European Churches: Visions of Unity

Budapest, Hungary, 22-25 June 2011 the second annual meeting of the Churches in Dialogue Commission (CiD) of the Conference of European Churches (CEC). The purpose of this consultation, organised by the CiD, will be to identify the main points of convergence in relation to the vision of unity within the CEC Member Churches. Positions will be presented from the Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran, Orthodox and Catholic perspectives. This consultation follows on the work of the one held in 2010 on “Visions on unity challenging ecumenism today”. Among the items to be considered at the CiD meeting on the 25th of June will be evaluations on the Graz Process and the Charta Oecumenica – 10 years after the signing; the working priorities up to 2013; and the decisions of recent governing body meetings in relation to the CiD.
The Committee will also be welcoming The Revd Dr Kaisamari Hintikka as the newly elected Interim Director of the Churches in Dialogue Commission. Dr. Hintikka will take up her position in September 2011.
The Conference of European Churches (CEC) is a fellowship of some 120 Anglican, Orthodox, Protestant, and Old Catholic Churches from all countries of Europe, and of 40 associated organisations. CEC was founded in 1959. It has offices in Geneva, Brussels and Strasbourg.
