Australian Labor Party Government and Liberal/National Party Coalition representatives on the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics have recommended against passing a Bill put forward by Independent Senator, Nick Xenophon, for the mandatory labelling of palm oil in products sold in Australia. This represents a significant step towards the rejection of both the Bill and NGO inspired environmental trade barriers. The final decision on the fate of the Bill now lies with the Australian House of Representatives. (from World Growth)
