WWF Rallies the World to Celebrate Poverty

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 10 aprile 2012

“The global scale of Earth Hour,” according to WWF President and CEO Carter Roberts, “is inspiring and captures our imaginations.” Quite—but only if you want to imagine living in Pyongyang. It’s certainly not the first time we’ve highlighted (no pun intended) how Earth Hour is nothing more than a celebration for anti-free enterprise environmentalists in self-righteousness and moral posturing, and it’s certainly not going to be the last. But that obviously didn’t stop WWF. Despite their best efforts to monopol ize morality, WWF’s Earth Hour actually does nothing to reduce overall carbon emissions. Thus despite being marketed as a noble endeavor to heel the environment, it’s actually nothing more than a global anti-development exercise. But it was curious that Earth Hour would also coincide with a New York Times piece about how North Korea is becoming “more open to gingerly discussing its environmental problems in recent years in the hope of finding solutions.” How could it be that a country as poor as North Korea faces so many environmental problems? It’s because free markets, not cheap publicity stunts, breed clean technology and innovation, allowing people across the world to live in a more healthy and prosperous environment. In fact, thanks to the power of markets and trade, some 500 million people escaped poverty between 2005 and 2010. And yes, they escaped poverty by using fossil fuels. But what’s the alternative? WWF’s black outs give you a hint (by Consumers Alliance for Global Prosperity)
The Consumers Alliance for Global Prosperity educates, empowers and mobilizes people to stand up against Green injustice. As an action-oriented alliance of advocacy groups that promotes economic growth and pro-consumer policies around the world, the Consumers Alliance works to counter the costly collaboration between environmentalists, the corporate sector, trade unions and others.
