Il sospetto

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2013

Acne Causes and Treatments Under the Spotlight

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2013

London, PRNewswire Acne treatment has been in the headlines in recent months as studies have been conducted into the causes of the condition and the therapies used to tackle it. The team at The Laser Treatment Clinic in London has read the recent developments in this key area of dermatology with interest and has some advice for sufferers. A recent report in the Daily Mail suggested that a long-term study of the relationship between diet and acne found that high fat and high sugar diets were indeed related to the condition. This has inevitably led dermatologists and skin experts like those at The Laser Treatment Clinic to suggest that lifestyle changes represent a positive form of acne management. Taking more exercise and eating a healthy, balanced diet that does not rely too heavily on fat and sugar are considered the most positive changes to make. However, another report regarding the treatment of acne has also surfaced this month. Dianette is one of the drugs used to tackle persistent and troublesome cases of acne, but as this report, also from the Daily Mail, indicates, the medication is now banned in several countries in Europe. Dianette has been linked to the deaths of a number of British women but the drug is still prescribed for severe skin complaints in the UK. The team at The Laser Treatment Clinic is keen to point out that there is an alternative to intensive drug therapy when it comes to the treatment of active acne vulgaris and the scars left behind by the condition. Laser acne treatment and acne scar treatment are gaining popularity as successful and non-invasive means of diminishing breakouts of acne and reversing the damage historical breakouts do to the complexion. These forms of treatment are available at The Laser Treatment Clinic and the clinic currently has a promotion in place offering considerable discounts on forms of laser therapy. The Laser Treatment Clinic is based in Harley Street in London. The clinic was one of the very first advanced laser skin clinics to be founded in the capital and the team boasts over 13 years of experience in a wide range of treatment areas, including hair removal and scar treatment.

Una donna al Quirinale

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2013

Interventional Radiology and Cardiology Treatment Methods Find Newer Markets in Asia-Pacific, Finds Frost & Sullivan

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2013

KUala Lumpur, Malaysia, PRNewswire The growing number of aging people, along with the high incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Asia-Pacific due to unhealthy lifestyles, has spurred the need for interventional radiology and cardiology procedures. Interventional methods’ benefits such as reduced hospitalization and faster recovery times have lowered in-patient admission rates and lent momentum to the market in the region. New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.medtech.frost.com), Asia-Pacific Interventional Radiology and Cardiology Market Assessment, finds that the market earned revenues of more than US$591.3 million in 2012 and estimates this to grow at a CAGR of 3.5 % through 2017. Greater focus on the early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and government initiatives to promote health check-up programs, aid the growth of the interventional radiology and cardiology market in Asia-Pacific. Although most countries in the Asia-Pacific position themselves as ideal destinations for medical tourism, the limited budgets of hospitals and medical facilities curb their ability to offer interventional therapies. Public sector hospitals are reluctant to invest in interventional treatment systems owing to high equipment costs and a shortage in workforce and infrastructure. To equip healthcare centers, governments in the region are chalking out strategies for increased funding and setting up educational institutions to train specialists. Equipment vendors too are providing new private hospitals in developing countries with integrated solutions to enhance penetration while universities and private hospitals in developed Asia-Pacific countries are looking to establish hybrid labs to enhance co-ordinated care for endovascular procedures in an interventional environment. If you are interested in more information on this research, please send an email to Donna Jeremiah, Corporate Communications, at djeremiah@frost.com, with your full name, company name, job title, telephone number, company email address, company website, city, state and country. New Cardiac Electrical Biomarker Featured In Johns Hopkins Abstract Demonstrates Strong Correlation To High Sensitivity Troponin To Rule Out Acute Myocardial Ischemic Injury

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2013

Totowa, New Jersey and San Francisco, American College of Cardiology (ACC) Convention One of the leading complaints in the Emergency Department is chest pain and the timely detection of a heart attack is essential. Because of this, VectraCor, Inc., an emerging medical device company for cardiovascular solutions, is pleased to announce that The Johns Hopkins Hospital presented an abstract at the ACC conference in San Francisco that utilized their VectraplexECG System. The abstract, entitled New Cardiac Electrical Biomarker Measured on 12-Lead ECG Strongly Correlates with High Sensitivity Troponin in Patients Admitted to the Emergency Department to Rule Out Acute Myocardial Ischemic Injury, was presented by Dr. Larisa Tereshchenko, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA, of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The VectraplexECG System incorporates a novel biomarker, the Cardiac Electrical Biomarker™ (CEB™), which in real-time, detects ECG changes suggestive of an Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI/Heart Attack). The CEB™ is an easy-to-read index number that will continuously display as the patient is monitored, potentially leading to faster treatment and clinician intervention for patients in the Emergency Department. Data was analyzed on 130 patients, participants of a prospective cohort study, admitted to the emergency department (ED) to rule out acute myocardial infarction. Overall, 475 ECGs and 489 High Sensitivity Troponin (HST) measurements were included in the analysis. The CEB™ showed a strong, positive correlation with (HST) (r=0.560; P=0.0007). The current “gold standard” for AMI detection is a long process which can continue up to 24 hours and involves placing 10 electrodes to produce a 12-lead ECG and measuring cardiac serum biomarkers (i.e. troponin) every 3-6 hours via invasive blood draws. The VectraplexECG System (FDA-cleared/CE Marked) uses only 5 electrodes to detect ECG changes suggestive of AMI and derives a 15-lead ECG (US) and the 22-lead ECG (EU). This will give the clinician more information with fewer electrodes, while potentially reducing lead placement error.
About VectraCorVectraCor is a New Jersey-based medical device company with disruptive technology in the cardiovascular and emergency markets. This unique technology has the potential to become the new standard of care in cardiac monitoring.
