Apple is no longer the most valuable brand in the world

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 maggio 2014

alexIt lost the top spot to Google! But what are the reasons behind Tim Cook’s downfall? It turns out that Steve Jobs’s renowned tendency to ruthlessly refine his products still cultivated by Apple might actually work against the company. Conversely, Google’s fast, aggressive and varied product turnovers may have contributed to its 40% rise in value in 2014. Using Millward Brown’s latest data we have created an infographic presenting top 10 most valuable brands of 2014 that also tries to explain the reasons behind Google’s sudden rise to power. You can check out the infographic here: http://comparisons.finance sonline. com/ comparison-of-the-most-valuable-brands-of-2014/. From the infographic, you can find out that: Google’s strategy is to excite the crowds by launching beta versions (like Google Glass) early on while Apple prefers to smooth out their products before their release. Apple has the biggest drop in value (by 40%) among the top 10 brands on the list I’m sure your readers would be interested in learning how Google managed to wrestle the most valuable brand title from seemingly almighty Apple and which other companies made it to the list.Would love to know your thoughts. The infographic is free to use, just credit us, the creators, as source.(alex)

Ministero Salute chiede 1,2 miliardi di danni a Roche e Novartis

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 maggio 2014

Divorzio breve

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 maggio 2014

European elections: What form of cohabitation between France and the EU?

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 29 maggio 2014

electionThis Tribune by Yves Bertoncini explains that the result of the European elections in France and in Europe on 22-25 May teaches us three major lessons at both the national and the Community level:
1. The Right in government has lost ground and the Left in government is treading water, both in France and in Europe as a whole, to the benefit of eurosceptic and europhobic parties
2. The National Front’s lead singles France out and weakens it in Europe
3. The new European Parliament’s decisions will continue to rest on the variable-geometry majorities set in motion by the conservatives and the socialists and democrats under the europhobes’ gaze
So all in all, the European election has opened up an era of cohabitation not only between majority pro-European forces and minority europhobic forces, but also between France and the other members of the EU in areas extending well beyond the mere arena of the European Parliament. This Tribune was published in the French edition of the Huffington Post (election)

Miami Real Estate Affordable despite Rising Prices

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 29 maggio 2014

Miami-skyline-for-wikipediaMiami, FL – An analysis of prices in Miami-Dade County year-to-date reveals that 58 percent of residential properties are selling for less than $250,000 despite rising prices, according to the 30,000-member Miami Association of Realtors. While record real estate sales activity in Miami-Dade has fueled double-digit price increases for nearly three years, median sale prices are what they were in 2003. The price growth that began in 2011 is relative to the bottom of the market, which means prices remain low compared to their peak in 2007. The current median sale prices for homes in Miami-Dade are what they were in 2003. Compared to the peak in 2007, prices for single-family homes and condominiums are respectively 36 and 29 percent lower. The National Association of Realtors latest Affordability Index of Existing Single-Family Homes for Metropolitan Areas shows Miami remains very competitive in terms of affordability. Based on the relationship between median home price, median family income and average mortgage interest rate, a composite index of 100 is defined as the point where a median-income family household has exactly enough income to qualify for the purchase of a median-priced existing single-family home, assuming a 20 percent downpayment and 25 percent of gross income devoted to mortgage principal and interest payments.
Miami’s index was 120 for all of 2013, following three years of robust market performance. This means in Miami a median-income family household has 120 percent of the income necessary to qualify for a conventional loan, more than enough to purchase a median-priced home.In contrast, the index for other major metro areas was: Anaheim-Santa Ana-Irvine, CA (67.8), San Diego (80.9), Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, CA (79.9), New York-Wayne-White Plains, NY-NJ (73.8), and San Francisco (72.6) – compared to Miami (120).
The MIAMI Association of REALTORS was chartered by the National Association of Realtors in 1920 and is celebrating 94 years of service to Realtors, the buying and selling public, and the communities in South Florida. Comprised of five organizations, the Residential Association, the Realtors Commercial Alliance, the Broward County Board of Governors, the YPN Council and the award-winning International Council, it represents more than 30,000 real estate professionals in all aspects of real estate sales, marketing, and brokerage. It is the largest local Realtor association in the U.S., and has official partnerships with nearly 120 international organizations worldwide. MIAMI’s official website is http://www.miamire.com.

Lauder urges EU leaders not to allow the extremists to set the agenda

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 29 maggio 2014

BruxellesBRUSSELS / NEW YORK – “The surge of far-right and anti-Semitic parties in a number of countries is a shock and a reason for great worry. European leaders must address this problem urgently and come up with a strategy to fight extremism. The future of European Jewry is a stake if these forces are not reined in. Extremists must not be allowed to set the agenda in Europe,” World Jewish Congress (WJC) President Ronald S. Lauder said in reaction to the results of EU-wide elections for the European Parliament. He urged European governments to enter into a constructive dialogue with the WJC on this issue.
The poll in the 28 EU member states saw a strong showing of xenophobic and anti-Semitic groups in a number of countries, including in Austria, France, Greece and Hungary. Several heads of European Jewish communities shared Lauder’s view.“Jews cannot be expected to remain silent when radical or extremist parties that used to be on the margins of politics make it into the top three in several countries, and in the case of France even come out on top,” said Ronald S. Lauder, adding: “Even if they remain a minority in the new European Parliament, these parties will be able to influence the European agenda, unless they are completely isolated. In the wake of the Brussels and Toulouse murders of Jews, it is high time the EU leaders came up with a credible plan on how to combat anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia on the continent, and how to ensure that Jews and other minorities are protected effectively. In this, the voice of the Jewish communities must be heard and concerns about their safety taken seriously.”WJC Vice-President Roger Cukierman, the head of the Jewish umbrella organization CRIF in France, where the far-right National Front (FN) of Marine Le Pen polled 26 percent of the vote and became the strongest party, declared: “This weekend, we witnessed the deadly attack in Brussels, the anti-Semitic incident in Créteil, and the result of the European elections. We are very worried. While the strong result of the FN can be explained with the economic crisis in France, which must be overcome, it is also of critical importance that the mainstream republican parties reestablish trust with French citizens.”
In Hungary, the extreme-right Jobbik party received 15 percent of the vote nation-wide and again became the third largest political force in the country. In Germany, the extremist NPD polled 1 percent and will send a lawmaker to the Strasbourg-based EU assembly for the first time. The neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, which is openly anti-Semitic and whose leaders have denied the Holocaust, became the third-largest party in Greece and got its best nation-wide result ever, polling 9.4 percent.WJC Vice-President Benjamin Albalas, the head of the Central Board of Greek Jewish Communities (KIS), declared: “It is not only very disappointing that Golden Dawn saw a significant rise in its share of the vote, winning three seats in the European Parliament, but also that other extreme-right parties in Greece and beyond did so well in the elections. A great number of European citizens seem to have forgotten what happened during the Holocaust and World War II. Racism and anti-Semitism are again hitting Europe. It is time for immediate action.”

European Parliament elections: It’s about Europe, it’s about you!

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 maggio 2014

parlamento europeoStatement by the General Secretary of Conference of European Churches on European Parliament elections 2014The elections to the European Parliament are an opportunity for each citizen of the European Union to make their voices heard and to shape our common future. It belongs to the Christian understanding of the role of each person in society not to hide individual responsibility for the development of the community. Every day the European Union pervades our life in many different ways. At this particular time, when the daily existence of millions of people in Europe is affected by the continuing impacts of the economic and financial crisis, when peace and reconciliation neither in society, nor within the continent as such are any longer as obvious as it used to be just a couple of years ago, and when the future of Europe more than ever raises questions and concerns, the Conference of European Churches (CEC) urges Christians all over the European Union, members of our  member churches, to seize the opportunity of the upcoming elections to cast their votes for candidates promoting peace, reconciliation, societal justice and cooperation instead of extremism and separation. As was expressed in an earlier statement on the topic by CEC Governing Board, our vision is ‘Europe as a place of peace, solidarity and cooperation.’ For this particular reason: “CEC invites its member churches to stand up actively against extremist positions that are contrary to basic standards of humanity and that deny values on which the European tradition has been built and that stand against basic principles of Christian ethics and faith.” We wish to express our support for those candidates standing in elections who value human life and the dignity of each individual without distinction. Christians all over Europe have a long-standing tradition in working towards justice and fairness in interpersonal relations, in cooperation among nations, as well as in our relation to the world. This should drive us to make our position clear also in the upcoming elections. For more information about themes related to the elections important for CEC, its member churches and our partners you are invited to read the CEC leaflet and the website http://www.eurovoices2014.eu. A voice for a Europe of peace, solidarity and cooperation is crucial at this particular moment!

U.S. Fertility Center on Mission to Educate, Give Hope, to Europeans Wanting Children via Surrogacy and Egg Donation

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 maggio 2014

The legal landscape around IVF (in vitro fertilization) and surrogacy in European countries cuts off hope for many singles and couples wanting to start or grow their family with the help of a doctor. But an increasing number of Europeans are coming to the United States to seek treatment, giving them hope in the face of significant opposition from their own country’s government. Two leaders in reproductive medicine via surrogacy, New England Fertility and Extraordinary Conceptions, will be visiting Europe in June to meet with potential patients.“Yes, we are eager to grow our business,” Gad Lavy, MD, founder and medical director of New England Fertility, says. “But we are on an educational mission to let people living abroad know that they have options if they want a family,” he adds.Gay couples are taking note, following American gay couples, and heading West to pursue family building via surrogacy. And not far behind are an increasing number of heterosexual couples.“They need treatment that just are forbidden in Europe.  And they go home with their families in tact and are happy they found this option,” Lavy says.Lavy and representatives from Extraordinary Conceptions, including a lawyer specializing in surrogacy, are available for interviews about surrogacy, IVF, their experience working with European patients and clients, and their upcoming trip. A gay German couple, patients of New England Fertility, also are willing to be interviewed.

Elezioni europee. Un euro del Sud?

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 maggio 2014

A nostro parere no. Vediamo.
No, purtroppo.

Massimo Cacciari e Grillo

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 maggio 2014

1800-Cacciari&Giorello04 Massimo Cacciari a La Zanzara su Radio 24: “Grillo?

Ukraine crisis will forever change Europe’s security architecture

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 20 maggio 2014

Ucraina-graThe current  crisis in relations between Europe and Russia over Ukraine is the first major continental crisis since the end of the Cold War in 1991. The consequences remain uncertain, writes World Review author Dr Uwe Nerlich, founding director of the Centre for European Security Strategies GmbH, Germany. ‘The crisis will change the European security architecture,’ he says. ‘It will change the geopolitical fabric on the continent, no matter what the future coherence and viability of Ukraine may turn out to be. Russia will be a different strategic player.’Europe faces multiple challenges. It has to maintain growth, competitiveness and social-political cohesion and to find the institutional solutions required to forge future common responses to upcoming crises. Further confrontational policies towards Russia will reinforce Europe’s drive to diversify its energy imports. ‘This would open an emerging market in Europe for US shale gas exports to replace Russian gas. Revenue from gas exports is vitally important for Russia’s economic viability,’ he says. Russia could move to more confrontation with the US and Europe in critical regions and to a greater anti-American, if not anti-Western alliance with China. This could increase Russia’s dependence on China, reduce its dependence on Europe, and free China’s hands in the evolving global competition – with the US newly-entangled in a distant quagmire.‘The world is undergoing thorough geopolitical change,’ says Dr Nerlich. ‘An unprecedented kind of global competition is unfolding. And it is creating unique conditions for Europe.  ‘Europe’s societal model and its strong, though underused technology-base, could provide it with the ability to dominate future global competition, provided it succeeds in alleviating internal tensions and increases its ability to compete globally as a united Europe.’

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 20 maggio 2014

How Europe freed itself from relying on Russian gas

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 20 maggio 2014

UkraineEach time there is a fall-out between Russia and Ukraine, urgent calls are made for the European Union to free itself from Russian gas. The reality is that the EU is in a better state than it has been for two decades, writes energy economist Dr Carole Nakhle in World Review.
‘The EU has diversified its sources of gas considerably since the 1990s’ she says. ‘More than 80 per cent of the growth in imports now comes from countries other than Russia – especially Norway, Algeria, Nigeria and the Middle East. Dependence on Russian gas almost halved in less than two decades, declining from 61 per cent in 1995 to 34 per cent in 2012.’‘The importance of natural gas, however, differs substantially from one country to the other’ says Dr Nakhle. For instance, five of the EU’s 28 members account for 68 per cent of the EU gas demand – the UK (18 per cent), Germany (17 per cent), Italy (16 per cent), France (nine per cent) and the Netherlands (nine per cent). ‘In other European countries, such as Malta and Cyprus, natural gas is absent while in Sweden its share is barely three per cent.’Imports by pipeline are the dominant route; the rest is delivered by LNG, mainly from Qatar, Algeria, Nigeria, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.‘Europe has built an extensive network of pipelines connecting it to major gas producers like Algeria, Libya, Norway, Russia and the UK. But the problem with pipelines is that the more countries they cross, the greater the risk of disruption.’Pipeline imports are delivered through three main gas corridors: the Eastern corridor (Russia); Northern corridor (Norway) and Western corridor (North Africa). The EU has been planning for a fourth, Southern corridor, which would bring natural gas from the Caspian region, the Middle East and East Mediterranean basin.‘The Southern gas corridor was described by the European Commission as one of the EU’s highest energy security priorities,’ she says. One additional pipeline has been causing controversy: Russia’s South Stream. It is designed to take Russian gas under the Black Sea – avoiding Ukriane – to the Balkans and on to other European countries. Construction is due to begin in summer 2014.
