Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 19 gennaio 2017

Jakarta. RBF Food and Agriculture 2017 will be held in Jakarta, 13-15 March 2017, and brings together leaders from business, finance community, NGOs, and several regional governments, including Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos.
FAO’s latest report on food insecurity praises Asia for its great progress in significantly reducing the number of malnourished individuals and for halving the proportion of hungry in the last few decades. Despite this progress, there is much still to be done and the report calls for a more intensive, inclusive and holistic approach, which fosters greater integration of health and nutrition-sensitive interventions, to ensure food and nutritional security for future generations.Under the theme ‘Securing Asia’s Food & Nutrition Future’, the 4th Responsible Business Forum on Food and Agriculture (RBF) will address these issues and explore ways to increase sustainable food production, and engage small-holder farmers towards improving nutrition and health in the region.
Seven commodity working groups will focus on aquaculture and fisheries, cocoa, coffee, dairy, grains, palm oil and rice. These working groups will produce actionable recommendations for enhancing farmer access to finance, technology, knowledge and markets, and for solving Asia’s nutrition crises.Confirmed speakers include: Kundhavi Kadiresan, Assistant Director General & Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific, UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Shinta Kamdani, President, Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development, Beverley Postma, Chief Executive Officer, Harvest Plus, Kamel Chida, Deputy Director, Nutrition, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Phouthone Moungpak, Vice-Minister, and, Chair, National Nutrition Committee, Ministry of Health, Lao PDR, Anna Chilczuk, Regional Director, South-East Asia, Mercy Corps, Imran Nasrullah, Chief Executive, Indonesia, Louis Dreyfus Company, Siang Hee Tan, Executive Director, CropLife Asia, Grahame Dixie, Executive Director, Grow Asia, U Tin Htut, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Myanmar, Steve Staal, Program Leader Policy, Trade and Value Chains, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Ganesh Pamugar Satyagraha, President Director, Monsanto Indonesia, Colin Lee, Director of Corporate Affairs, Cargill and Nurdiana Darus, Director, Southeast Asia, Rainforest Alliance, amongst many more.
