Interaxon Inc. Announces French, German and Spanish Languages for Its Muse Meditation Headband

Velodyne Customers Cheer New Pricing

The significant cost reduction—up to 50 percent lower in price—is paving the way for advanced autonomy and roadway safety. Al Parco Archeologico di Ercolano personale Ales amplia possibilità fruizione

Casa dei CerviCasa dei Due AtriIl 2018 al Parco Archeologico di Ercolano parte con l’ampliamento dell’offerta di visita grazie all’impiego di 6 nuovi addetti all’assistenza al pubblico e sorveglianza, assunti in seguito all’accordo tra il Parco Archeologico di Ercolano e la società ALES che fornirà anche due unità di supporto per gli Uffici amministrativi del Parco. Dopo un primo periodo di formazione all’interno del sito, sarà a partire dal 15 gennaio che l’apporto di tale personale permetterà di garantire l’apertura stabile di 4 edifici caratteristici del sito archeologico di Ercolano, in particolare :
· Casa dei Due Atri, la cui facciata conserva un arco cieco al di sopra del portale e, all’interno, una testa di Gorgone contro il malocchio. L’interno è caratterizzato dalla presenza di due atri.
· Casa del Bel Cortile, abitazione che si distingue dalle altre dell’antica città per la presenza di un cortile pavimentato con un bel mosaico bianco e crocette nere uncinate; da qui si accedeva al piano superiore grazie ad una scala e un ballatoio in muratura.
· Casa dell’Erma di Bronzo, nell’atrio di questa casa, a impluvio centrale e pareti affrescate in terzo Casa del Bel CortileCasa dell'Erma di Bronzostile, è stata ritrovata un’erma (cioè un busto-ritratto su pilastro) in bronzo, raffigurante il proprietario dell’abitazione, di cui è esposta una copia.
· Casa dei Cervi, una delle dimore più ampie di Ercolano. Occupava circa 1100 m2, sviluppandosi sia al piano terra, riservato ai proprietari, che in un secondo livello, destinato alla servitù. E’ caratterizzata da un ampio porticato coperto su cui si aprono ambienti lussuosi, in parte affacciati sul mare. Tra gli arredi marmorei del giardino sono presenti due statue di cervi assaliti da un branco di cani, che danno il nome alla casa.Tra queste si distingue la casa del Bel Cortile, tipo di costruzione completamente nuova rispetto alle tipiche case pompeiane, organizzata intorno ad una corte dalla quale si accede ai piani superiori, forse insieme di piccoli appartamenti, forse sede di un’associazione privata.L’assunzione di personale ALES rappresenta un sostanziale passo in avanti per affrontare la carenza di addetti alla vigilanza, uno dei problemi più gravi che affliggono i siti archeologici, e rappresenta, allo stesso tempo, una grande opportunità di ampliamento dell’offerta di visita così come richiesto dagli operatori turistici e dai visitatori di tutto il mondo.

FIRST Robotics CompetitionInventor and FIRST® Founder Dean Kamen launched the 2018 FIRST® Robotics Competition season today with the Kickoff of a new robotics game called FIRST® POWER UPSM before a crowd of more than 1,000 people, including Governor Chris Sununu and Senator Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire, hometown of FIRST Headquarters. More than 91,000 high-school students on 3,647 teams at 137 venues around the globe joined the 2018 Kickoff via Twitch Live Broadcast.“It’s not about the robots – it’s never been about the robots,” said Dean Kamen, president of DEKA Research & Development. “We are not using kids to build robots. We are using robots to build kids.”FIRST POWER UP finds FIRST Robotics Competition teams trapped in an 8-bit video game. Each three-team alliance has three ways to help defeat the boss: Tipping the scale or the alliance’s switch in their favor to earn points, exchanging power cubes for power ups (force, boost, and levitate) to gain a temporary advantage during the match, and climbing the scale tower to face the boss. The alliance with the highest score at the end of the match, which includes autonomous and teleoperated periods, defeats the boss and wins the game.At today’s Kickoff, teams were shown the FIRST POWER UP game field and challenge details for the first time, and received the Kickoff Kit from the Kit of Parts, which is made up of motors, batteries, control system components, construction materials, and a mix of additional automation components – with limited instructions.Working with adult mentors, students have six weeks to design, build, program, and test their robots to meet the season’s engineering challenge. Once these young inventors build a robot, their teams will participate in one or more of the global 158 Regional and District events that measure the effectiveness of each robot, the power of collaboration, and the determination of students.By participating in FIRST, students gain confidence to explore the innovation process while learning valuable science, engineering, technology, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. FIRST Robotics Competition participants are eligible to apply for more than $50 million in FIRST Scholarships from leading colleges and universities.
