Defying conventional education modes

Founders of Green School put the notion of sustainability as the centerpiece of their educational philosophy. Wall-less classrooms allow students to connect with nature directly while environment-friendly infrastructures enable students to discover the significance of sustainability on a daily basis. According to Chickering, the educational goal of Green School is to teach students to become “system thinkers” who aim to steer the world, “be they environmental, economical, societal or personal”, to a sustainable path — a key element to solving current global issues. In order to achieve this goal, educators from Green School focus on helping students understand the importance of reflecting on mistakes, asking the right questions rather than giving the right answers, and additionally offer students choices in their learning journey.
To make the “system thinkers” idea practical, teachers in Green School also educate students to become “world-ready”.
