Installation of IntelliSpace Critical Care and Anesthesia system

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 17 novembre 2019

Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Jakarta, Indonesia – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, today announced a significant development in the digitization of patient treatment in Indonesia, with the country’s first installation of Philips IntelliSpace Critical Care and Anesthesia (ICCA) system at the Kasih Ibu Hospital in Denpasar, Bali. The critical care technology is part of Philips’ broader connected care suite aimed to help ensure seamless care and timely information flow between patients and the healthcare professionals who provide treatment. At Kasih Ibu Hospital, the critical care system will be integrated with Philips Patient Deterioration Solution – a portfolio of solutions to help manage patient deterioration outside the ICU – to better track patient conditions, helping the hospital achieve improved patient care, enhanced patient experience, lower costs and better staff satisfaction. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) workflow is quite complex, involving admission/discharge, daily routine care, emergency, and unscheduled events, as well as managing end of life care. The sheer numbers of medications, scans, treatments, and tests administered pose a huge burden on patients and their loved ones, and the complex workflow demands a huge effort from all clinical teams involved. It is estimated there are 178 processes delivered to each ICU patient per day, with 1.7 of them associated with some error. For those teams, decision-making becomes a complex yet time-critical process, made even more difficult by data-overload caused by disparate devices, patient record systems and data sources. Digitization of healthcare services, especially in hospitals treating emergency and post-surgical patients, is a pressing need worldwide as hospitals cope with meeting surging healthcare demand while not compromising the quality of care and patient safety. As hospitals across the globe team with industry to improve and save lives, Indonesia is no exception. Acute care is particularly challenging, associated with the highest number of medical errors. Nearly all ICU patients suffer a potentially life-threatening error during their stay, with medication errors accounting for 78% of serious medical errors. Decision-making and diagnosis are also more difficult in critical care due to the vulnerability of patients, who can have co-morbidities and deteriorate rapidly.

Erverless Platform to Europe to Support Enterprise Transformation with Time Series Technology

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 17 novembre 2019

InfluxData, creator of the open source time series database InfluxDB, today announced the general availability of InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 in Europe — the first serverless time series platform-as-a-service, purpose-built to meet the specialised requirements of today’s time-sensitive workloads. The launch supports the company’s expansion and focus on the region, with over half of users and one third of customers, and commitment to empowering developers wherever they are.Increasingly, successful business transformation in the digital age is being driven by collecting and analysing data; however, the volume and velocity of new data is overwhelming many businesses. Despite creating over 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day, in the UK alone, businesses only analyse an estimated 12 percent of their own data. Most of this data is time-stamped, generated at high frequency and in great volumes. Unlike relational and non-serverless databases, cloud-based time series databases such as InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 can rapidly ingest and query these large volumes of data cost-effectively and in real-time to ensure that customers can maximise the value of their data and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Able to collect, store, query, process and visualise raw time-stamped data with high precision, InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 is a purpose-built platform designed to improve the entire developer experience. With a rapid ingestion rate — up to millions of metrics per second — and highly efficient compute, downsampling and compression functions, InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 is up to 100 times more powerful than non-specialised time series solutions. The platform also includes a free rate-limited tier, transparent usage-based pricing and advanced analytic capabilities which allow customers to convert data into actionable information.

ThousandEyes Introduces Collective View of Global Internet Performance

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 17 novembre 2019

ThousandEyes, the Internet and Cloud Intelligence company, today unveiled Internet Insights(™), the only collectively powered view of global Internet performance. Internet Insights(™) analyzes common points across billions of service delivery paths in real-time to identify where business-impacting Internet outages are occurring. These insights enable enterprises and service providers to immediately see issues that directly or indirectly impact their users, accurately measure their scope, accelerate the remediation process and confidently communicate what’s causing service issues to their customers and employees.“Whenever a customer is having an issue with our service, even if we can definitively say the issue isn’t in our code or in our direct Internet service delivery path, it’s still our problem because it’s affecting our customer’s experience,” said David Mann, technology officer at a global education company. “That’s why it’s important to be able to see beyond our own service delivery paths and gain intelligence from the collective view of what’s happening on the global Internet, so we can help our customers pinpoint where the issue is, even when it’s not ours. We would never be able to do that without a collective intelligence solution like Internet Insights.” “Being able to look beyond our own view of the Internet to instantly verify if the issue is unique to us, or if it’s a larger issue impacting others is incredibly useful information to have when an application performance issue is impacting our customers or employees,” said Oleg Onatzevitch, vice president in the enterprise network services group at one of the largest multinational investment banks. “That data allows me to immediately escalate the conversation with the service provider that’s causing the issue because I can show them it’s not just us, but their issue is impacting several other major businesses too. It helps them effectively prioritize issue remediation, and it helps us be able to confidently communicate what’s going on to our customers, which is a win-win for everyone.”

Early Stage Lung Cancer at Innovation Summit San Francisco Conference

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 17 novembre 2019

Navigation Sciences™ will provide an update at the annual Medtech Strategist Innovation Summit San Francisco 2019 Conference on its Image Guided, Video Assisted Surgery (iVATS™) technology for the minimally invasive identification and removal of early stage lung cancer, the company announced today. The conference will take place in Burlingame, California on November 19, 2019.
The emergence of CT chest scanning as an effective tool in high risk populations to detect lung cancer at an early stage and lower cancer deaths is creating new opportunities to improve lung surgery. Removal of small tumors deep inside the lung with appropriate margins remains a significant challenge, as insufficient distance between the tumor and resection margin is associated with recurrence and death. Current surgical approaches either remove excess tissue via lobectomy, which lowers recurrence risk but results in more impaired lung function, or smaller, wedge resections, which reduces lung impairment but may increase recurrence risk. The Navigation Sciences™ solution integrates with multi-modal (imaging and surgery) technology and includes an active, GPS enabled marker (fiducial), proprietary, real-time navigation algorithms, and tumor cutting devices that allow for surgical precision specific to the patient’s anatomy. Radiology images are synchronized with real-time information to enable the clinician to perform surgery with precision guidance. The technology’s proof-of-concept was demonstrated in a Phase I-II clinical trial published in the Journal of Surgical Oncology. In the study, involving 25 patients (23 with early stage lung cancer), there were no significant complications, all nodules were fully resected with negative margins, and the technology was shown to integrate with surgical workflow. There are an estimated 87,000 patients in the U.S. diagnosed each year with early stage lung cancer and that number is expected to grow with growing recognition of CT X-ray screening’s value in early detection and favorable reimbursement coverage. Beyond lung cancer, the technology has significant potential in other soft tissue cancer surgeries including breast cancer, where an estimated 250,000 lumpectomies are performed annually, as well as liver, thyroid and brain tumors.
