MEPs to look into Artificial Intelligence in criminal law

Bruxelles Thursday, 20 February, from 14.00 to 17.30 European Parliament, Antall building, room 4Q2 The use of Artificial Intelligence by the police and judicial authorities, including facial recognition, will be discussed by the Civil Liberties Committee on Thursday.
The hearing will focus on the benefits and risks of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the criminal law framework, predictive policing, facial recognition, as well as the ethical and fundamental rights implications. The list of speakers includes representatives from the Council of Europe, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). Experts from academia, think tanks and civil society will also speak at the hearing.
