Accenture to Acquire Analytics8, Australian Analytics and Data Specialists

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has entered into an agreement to acquire Analytics8, a privately held Australian big data and analytics consultancy that specialises in data management, reporting and visualisation, data science and analytics services.
Founded in 2002, Analytics8 provides data and analytics solutions to some of Australia’s largest organisations. With deep expertise across multiple industries, from healthcare to financial services, Analytics8 enables clients to derive enhanced insights from data.
Analytics8’s Melbourne and Sydney-based team of 70 professionals will join Accenture Applied Intelligence, which uses artificial intelligence-powered data, automation and analytics to help clients transform their businesses.“In this data-driven age, organisations are increasingly seeking to harness the power of their information for competitive advantage and to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction,” said Amit Bansal, a managing director at Accenture who leads its analytics and artificial intelligence business in Australia and New Zealand.

Accenture Opens Advanced Technology Center in Alicante, Spain

Accenture, Cisco and Quest Alliance Team to Skill Youth for the Digital Economy

Accenture (NYSE: ACN), Cisco and Quest Alliance are teaming to equip 1.5 million youth across India with skills for the digital economy. As part of a year-long collaboration, the organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Training (DGT) within the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to offer a digital skilling program to all students enrolled in industrial training institutes (ITIs) via the government of India’s Bharat Skills portal.The three organizations have also signed MoUs with the state governments of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bihar and Assam to roll out a comprehensive blended learning program, which will cover more than 100,000 students from 227 ITIs across these states. The training modules will include online self-learning via the Bharat Skills portal as well as in-classroom training.The skilling program, which will be expanded in a phased manner to ITIs across other states in India, includes tailor-made curriculum with modules for digital literacy, career readiness, employability skills and advanced technology skills such as data analytics. The in-classroom program will deliver more than 240 hours of training to impart skills for digital literacy and fluency; workplace readiness, including creative problem solving and use of data in decision making; and career management skills, including the cultivation of a growth mindset and the ability to identify and plan career journeys. The online module is optimized for mobile phones to enable on-the-go self-learning, and the toolkit also includes train the trainer resources.

JAL Works with Accenture to Pilot Artificial Intelligence-Enhanced Airport Service

Japan Airlines (JAL) is working with Accenture (NYSE: ACN) on a new service that applies artificial intelligence (AI) to answer passenger requests at the airline’s check-in counters. The service assesses what check-in counter agents are saying to passengers and then pushes relevant information to the agents’ tablets in near real-time, which includes additional relevant information tailored to the individual’s journey. JAL and Accenture are piloting the AI-enhanced service at its international check-in counters at Narita Airport and Haneda Airport starting today.
The service uses AI applications including voice recognition to identify and interpret statements made by the agents, so it can retrieve data from JAL’s knowledge database or website and proactively answer passenger queries. For passengers, the service is designed to speed up the check-in process and also make the time they spend at the airport less stressful. This supports the airline’s goal to create new value for customers and remain one step ahead of its competitors.For employees, the service will offer a seamless check-in process that previously involved a variety of operating systems and printed documents to answer inquiries like baggage pickup for connecting international flights, seat upgrade requests, and the location of an airport lounge at the destination.JAL recognizes the combination of people and technology is key to generating innovation and they expect this service will be greatly welcomed by both passengers and employees.The pilot runs on an AI platform that combines various AI engines, business processes, and data sources as a hub to generate and continuously improve responses — all designed to help JAL transform how customer service is delivered. The platform’s flexibility and agility are expected to help further accelerate JAL’s business growth.To create the platform, Accenture drew on AI capabilities from Accenture Applied Intelligence as well as agile project development methods and airline expertise from Accenture’s Travel consulting group.JAL will pilot this service in Narita airport and Haneda Airport until the end of March 2019 and evaluate the results to explore full implementation of the service at both airports.

Culture of Equality Is Powerful Multiplier of Workplace Innovation, New Accenture Research Finds

Published today in the company’s “Getting to Equal 2019” report, the research found that in the U.S., employees’ innovation mindset — their willingness and ability to innovate — is nearly five times higher in companies with a robust culture of equality, where everyone can advance and thrive, than in least-equal companies.“In this era of widespread disruption, businesses and organizations need to respond with continuous innovation to succeed,” said Julie Sweet, Accenture’s chief executive officer – North America. “Our research makes it clear that tapping the power of workplace culture is essential to unleashing innovation across the company.”According to the research, the vast majority of executives around the world agree that continuous innovation is essential: 95 percent see innovation as vital to competitiveness and business viability. A culture of equality is a powerful driver of an innovation mindset — more than other factors that differentiate organizations, such as industry, country or workforce demographics. Among those surveyed, people across all genders, sexual identities, ages and ethnicities show a stronger innovation mindset in more equal workplace cultures.
Accenture’s new research is based on a survey of more than 18,000 professionals in 27 countries, including 1,400 in the U.S., a survey of more than 150 C-suite executives in eight countries and a model that combines employee survey results with published labor force data. It builds on Accenture’s 2018 research, which identified 40 workplace factors that contribute to a culture of equality, and grouped them into three actionable categories: Bold Leadership, Comprehensive Action and Empowering Environment.This year’s research determined that an empowering environment is by far the most important of the three culture-of-equality categories in increasing an innovation mindset, which consists of six elements: purpose, autonomy, resources, inspiration, collaboration and experimentation. The more empowering the workplace environment, the higher the innovation mindset score. For instance, U.S. employees in robust cultures of equality are seven times more likely to say that nothing holds them back from innovating (44 percent in most equal cultures vs. 6 percent in least equal cultures).However, organizations must close the important gap the research revealed between C-suite executives and employees. While 76 percent of executives globally said they empower employees to innovate, only 42 percent of employees agree. For example, executives appear to overestimate financial rewards, and underestimate purpose, as motivations for employees to innovate. In a more equal culture, the strongest factors underpinning an innovation mindset include providing relevant skills training, flexible working arrangements and respect for work life balance.

AVEnueS, a solution created by Accenture Health & Public Service, in collaboration with Accenture Interactive, is a first-of-its-kind use of virtual reality in the social services sector, designed to accelerate and expand the training and development of child welfare caseworkers. It was created with real actors and uses immersive storytelling and interactive voice-based scenarios to transform how caseworkers practice and hone data-gathering and decision-making skills. “VR technology is continuing to advance and has the potential to significantly improve outcomes for citizens by helping social service agencies provide even better services,” said Rainer Binder, who leads Accenture’s social services practice globally. “Advances have brought VR to a point where it offers a new transformative way for citizen services organizations to help train caseworkers and other social workers to be more prepared and effective in the field.”AVEnueS requires only a wireless Oculus® headset, a downloadable app and a WiFi connection. Accenture Names Jeffrey Russell President of Accenture in Canada

He is succeeding Bill Morris, who will retire from the company at the end of February 2019.Russell is currently a senior managing director with responsibility for leading Accenture’s multi-billion-dollar Products business in North America, which covers the life sciences, industrial, consumer goods, retail and travel industries. During his 20-year career with Accenture, Russell — a Toronto native — has worked across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and North America while based out of Melbourne, Singapore, New York, London and, most recently, Miami.Among the many leadership roles Russell has held at Accenture were leading Products in the United Kingdom and Ireland; Life Sciences in North America; and Supply Chain and Operations-Management consulting across Asia Pacific. Gli operatori del settore possono ora sfruttare le capacità di analisi predittiva di ACAI per proporre NBA (Next Best Action) ottimizzate, come ad esempio indicazioni su prodotti e servizi consigliati, personalizzati in base alle specifiche esigenze e alla storia individuale del cliente. L’evidente gap tecnologico delle banche

board membersdi Alessandro Onano, CMO Una ricerca di Accenture ha messo in evidenza la grave mancanza di esperienza in campo tecnologico nelle stanze dei bottoni delle principali istituzioni finanziarie mondiali.Secondo il rapporto Bridging the Technology Gap in Financial Services Boardroom, solo il 6% dei membri del CDA e il 3% per cento degli amministratori delle più grandi banche del Mondo hanno una qualche esperienza professionale tecnologia.
La maggior parte delle più grandi sfide che le istituzioni finanziarie devono fronteggiare in questa epoca sono connesse con la tecnologia. Anche chi muove i fili deve quindi avere una conoscenza solida della tecnologia se vuole prendere decisioni informate. FinTech, cyber-sicurezza e le implicazioni tecnologiche derivate dai cambiamenti normativi sono diventate tutte questioni critiche a livello di Consiglio d’Amministrazione ma molti CdA semplicemente non hanno sufficiente esperienza per valutare questi problemi e prendere decisioni sulla strategia, gli investimenti e il modo migliore per allocare risorse tecnologiche. – Richard Lumb, direttore dei Financial Services di Accenture. Il rapporto, sulla base di un’analisi delle esperienze professionali di quasi 2.000 dirigenti e membri del consiglio di amministrazioni di ​​oltre 100 tra le più grandi banche del Mondo, definisce “esperienza tecnologica” il ricoprire, o l’aver ricoperto, un ruolo di alto livello nel dipartimento tech di una società o un ruolo dirigenziale presso un società tech.I consigli di amministrazione delle banche negli Stati Uniti e nel Regno Unito hanno percentuali più elevate di dirigenti con esperienza professionale tecnologica rispetto a quelli di tutti gli altri paesi ma i numeri sono ancora bassi (16% degli amministratori negli USA e il 14% in UK). L’Italia, al pari di Brasile, Grecia e Russia, è il fanalino di coda di questa classifica con una rappresentazione dell’esperienza tecnologica a ridosso dello 0%… non esattamente un vanto.Molte banche si stanno comunque rendendo conto di quanto sia importante colmare questo divario tecnologico e sono alla ricerca di esperti di tecnologia da integrare nel proprio organico. Quel che è certo però è che avere uno o due esperti in squadra non può rappresentare la cura di tutti i mali. Le banche devono cambiare in primis a livello di cultura aziendale attraverso una combinazione di nuove competenze tecnologiche e una migliore alfabetizzazione degli altri amministratori per favorire la comprensione dell’impatto della tecnologia sul business.Il rapporto stesso raccomanda che siano le banche a istituire commissioni tecnologiche a livello di CdA. In maniera del tutto simile a quanto già accade con i comitati di rischio e di controllo, i comitati tecnologici fornirebbero ulteriori competenze e darebbero al board supporto circa le principali decisioni di tecnologia. Attualmente solo il 11% delle principali banche hanno una commissione tecnologiche.Il rapporto suggerisce anche che le istituzioni finanziare debbano prevedere dei programmi di coaching personalizzato per aiutare a migliorare l’acume tecnologico dei propri amministratori in modo che siano meglio attrezzati per prendere decisioni informate.Quel che è certo è che non è più sufficiente (se mai lo è stato!) semplicemente prendere coscienza del pericolo al quale vanno incontro e di come l’innovazione sia fondamentale per evitare di essere tagliati fuori dal mercato. Le banche hanno ormai sopratutto bisogno di un chiaro programma di innovazione con obiettivi misurabili, piani di investimento e strategia di esecuzione. I membri del Consiglio hanno un ruolo chiave da svolgere nell’aiutare a impostare la traiettoria e monitorare i progressi ma, per farlo, avranno bisogno di colmare questo grave ed evidente gap a livello di esperienza in campo tecnologico che oggi le caratterizza.
