Agilent Presents Thought Leader Award to Professor Hyun Joo An

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced today that Professor Hyun Joo An has received an Agilent Thought Leader Award in support of her work in glycomics and biopharmaceutical applications. Dr. Hyun Joo An is a professor at the Graduate School of Analytical Science and Technology, Chungnam National University, in Daejeon, South Korea. She also heads the Asia Glycomics Reference Site (AGRS), a collaboration between Agilent and the university’s Graduate School of Analytical Science and Technology. The AGRS supports the Asia-Pacific scientific community and industry in the field of glycoanalysis and glycotechnology, promoting collaborative research to develop and enhance the biosimilars industry, which is helping scientists to develop new treatments to cure or prevent diseases.
Dr. Killeen noted that identifying new structural entities, which is gaining increased emphasis among researchers, could have profound implications for the treatment of various cancers, Alzheimer’s disease, heart ailments, and infectious diseases.

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that Professor Antoni Ribas has received an Agilent Thought Leader Award in support of his genomics and immunotherapy research. A renowned oncologist, Dr. Ribas is implementing next-generation genomics solutions to identify mechanisms and biomarkers associated with resistance and response to immunotherapy in patients with melanoma.Dr. Ribas is a professor of medicine and surgery as well as molecular and medical pharmacology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Agilent to Expand Portfolio and Capabilities in Cell Analysis with Acquisition of ACEA Biosciences

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately-owned ACEA Biosciences Inc. (ACEA), a developer of cutting-edge cell analysis instruments for life science research and clinical diagnostics, for $250 million in cash.

ACEA is revolutionizing the field of flow cytometry with its high-performance, customizable line of NovoCyte® benchtop flow cytometers. ACEA’s xCELLigence® instruments enable label-free, real-time monitoring of cell growth, cell function, and cellular responses to a variety of treatments, providing scientists information-rich cellular assays.ACEA also has a CFDA approved and CE-IVD labelled cytometer configuration. Agilent Announces CFO Transition

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that Didier Hirsch, senior vice president and chief financial officer, has decided to retire on Oct 31, 2018. The company has appointed Robert W. McMahon, currently chief financial officer, Hologic, Inc., as his successor. McMahon will join Agilent on August 3, as senior vice president, and will become CFO on Sept. 1, 2018, when Hirsch will step down as CFO. Hirsch will continue as an active member of the executive staff until his retirement date at the end of the fiscal year, focused on working with McMahon to ensure a smooth transition.Hirsch has led Agilent’s global finance organization as CFO since 2010. Before that he had oversight of the corporate controllership and tax functions. He joined Agilent at its inception in 1999 as VP of treasury and investor relations. He held various international finance positions at HP, Agilent’s predecessor, from 1989 until joining Agilent.
“Didier has been a brilliant CFO. Under his financial stewardship, the valuation of the company has increased significantly, exceeding the growth rate of the S&P 500 over the same period,” said President and CEO, Mike McMullen. “I value his business insights and his leadership, and I deeply appreciate his unwavering integrity that is a hallmark of everything he does. Agilent and Nanyang Technological University Singapore to Develop Novel Approaches for Water Analysis

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that it will collaborate with the Nanyang Technological University Singapore’s (NTU Singapore’s) Nanyang Environment Water Research Institute (NEWRI) to develop novel approaches to testing and monitoring the region’s water supply.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the two organizations have agreed to address persistent and emerging contaminants in water. “We are pleased that, with this agreement, our shared vision and combined resources will be brought to bear on such a critical challenge,” said Nino Totino, Agilent vice president and general manager of Laboratory Solution Sales in the region. “We look forward to collaborating with NEWRI and Professor Shane Snyder, whose groundbreaking and influential research in water analysis is globally recognized, in addition to his receipt of an Agilent Thought Leader Award.” “NTU Singapore, one of the world’s top research-intensive universities, has a strong and established track record of working closely with industry to develop science and applications that have real-world impact,” said Shane Snyder, NEWRI executive director and professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering. “NEWRI, one of the world’s leading environmental research institutes, together with Agilent’s vast analytical expertise and technology, will be able to expand the breadth and depth of our research mission while co-developing novel environmental analysis solutions for Singapore and the world.” Getting access to clean water is an ongoing challenge in Southeast Asia, impacting public health and industry. To augment water supplies, water reuse schemes are being developed in the region, and effective monitoring practices are needed to ensure public safety. While the research will be conducted in Singapore, Agilent and NEWRI expect their collaboration to have far-reaching benefits, not only in Southeast Asia but around the world, in regard to water quality monitoring and availability.

Agilent Opens New Logistics Hub in China

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today opened a new logistics hub in Shanghai, designed to enable faster delivery of parts, supplies, and consumables to laboratories in China.
The 20,000 square-foot warehouse in Shanghai is the first of five forward stocking locations being established to improve delivery to customers throughout the country. The warehouse will store a wide range of consumables and service parts to support rapidly growing customer needs.
“With our rapid business growth in China, we needed more flexible and responsive logistics. This new center in Shanghai will enable record on-time delivery of service parts and consumables to our customers, and is a model for our future growth,” said Kristin Giffin, vice president, Operations, Quality and Support, Agilent CrossLab Group. “The facility leverages Agilent’s global operations model, and has been set up with best-in-class systems for delivery performance and rapid response,” said Chow Woai Sheng, vice president and general manager, Agilent Global Supply Chain. “Ultimately, this warehouse accelerates Agilent’s integration of supply chain logistics with our e-commerce systems to deliver even better customer experience.” Agilent is proactively taking steps to ensure continuous service to its customers, with regional warehouses around the world adding capabilities and scale to create a more flexible and robust distribution network. “This is just the latest example of how Agilent is working to ensure that its global supply chain is optimized to support rapid order fulfillment,” said Henrik Ancher-Jensen, senior vice president, Agilent, and president, Order Fulfillment and Supply Chain. “Our continual efforts to improve the customer experience speak to Agilent’s ability to be a trusted partner, and helping customers to achieve their goals.”

Agilent Thought Leader Award Presented to Renowned Drug Discovery Researcher Professor Jiandong Jiang

(NYSE:A) today announced that Professor Jiandong Jiang has received an Agilent Thought Leader Award in support of his studies on cancer stem cells differentiation induced by natural products.“Cancer is a chronic disease generated by multiple factors. Our research is focused on the treatment of cancers with new concepts or principles, using cutting-edge techniques,” said Professor Jiang.Professor Jiang is director of the Institute of Materia Medica (IMM), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in Beijing, China. He is also the vice-chairman of the China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Development Association (PhIRDA). Professor Jiang’s research focuses on antimicrobial drugs, including viruses and bacteria, anticancer drugs, and the development of treatments for metabolic syndrome. The Agilent Thought Leader Award will enable Professor Jiang’s team to implement metabolite flux analyses, metabolism analyses, and integrated biology approaches to characterize the anti-tumor activity of natural products. In addition to Agilent mass spectrometry solutions, Professor Jiang’s lab will also make extensive use of Agilent Seahorse XF technology, and Agilent MassHunter and VistaFlux software. The project will also include a collaboration with Professor Wenbin Li from the Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Capital Medical University to perform clinical related research.“Agilent is proud to continue its support of cancer research with the use of our mass spectrometry systems, bioinformatics software, and metabolic analysis tools to facilitate the identification and characterization of cancer drugs,” said Victor Chan, Agilent vice president, and general manager of Laboratory Solutions for Agilent Greater China.
