Nissoli (FI): Lieto fine per gli studenti bloccati a JFK airport a New York

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 1 aprile 2020

JAL Works with Accenture to Pilot Artificial Intelligence-Enhanced Airport Service

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 16 marzo 2019

Japan Airlines (JAL) is working with Accenture (NYSE: ACN) on a new service that applies artificial intelligence (AI) to answer passenger requests at the airline’s check-in counters. The service assesses what check-in counter agents are saying to passengers and then pushes relevant information to the agents’ tablets in near real-time, which includes additional relevant information tailored to the individual’s journey. JAL and Accenture are piloting the AI-enhanced service at its international check-in counters at Narita Airport and Haneda Airport starting today.
The service uses AI applications including voice recognition to identify and interpret statements made by the agents, so it can retrieve data from JAL’s knowledge database or website and proactively answer passenger queries. For passengers, the service is designed to speed up the check-in process and also make the time they spend at the airport less stressful. This supports the airline’s goal to create new value for customers and remain one step ahead of its competitors. For employees, the service will offer a seamless check-in process that previously involved a variety of operating systems and printed documents to answer inquiries like baggage pickup for connecting international flights, seat upgrade requests, and the location of an airport lounge at the destination.JAL recognizes the combination of people and technology is key to generating innovation and they expect this service will be greatly welcomed by both passengers and employees. The pilot runs on an AI platform that combines various AI engines, business processes, and data sources as a hub to generate and continuously improve responses — all designed to help JAL transform how customer service is delivered. The platform’s flexibility and agility are expected to help further accelerate JAL’s business growth. To create the platform, Accenture drew on AI capabilities from Accenture Applied Intelligence as well as agile project development methods and airline expertise from Accenture’s Travel consulting group.JAL will pilot this service in Narita airport and Haneda Airport until the end of March 2019 and evaluate the results to explore full implementation of the service at both airports.

Strengthening the position of Avinor Oslo Airport as an international hub

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 18 giugno 2018

Oslo Lufthavn Avinor has decided to expand the area after the passport control at Oslo Airport, which will provide a significantly better service to people travelling to and from countries outside the Schengen Area. Construction work starts in early October this year and the expansion will be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
– This expansion is important for developing Oslo Airport as an international hub. It will provide increased capacity and improve conditions for our passengers and airlines, as well as improving the framework conditions for Norwegian travel, tourism and business – which is an important part of Avinors strategy, says CEO of Avinor, Dag Falk-Petersen.The current capacity of the area for traffic outside of the Schengen Area is 5.5 million passengers per year, and following the expansion it will be approximately 8 million.
– In recent years, traffic to and from countries outside of the Schengen Area has experienced considerably greater growth than traffic within it. It is absolutely essential that we facilitate this traffic by building good and suitable infrastructure. It will increase Norway’s competitiveness and provide considerable economic benefits, says Falk-Petersen.The work on the expansion will start on Monday, October 1st and disruption to travellers will be kept to a minimum.
– After six years of building the new Oslo Airport, we have learned a great deal about how to simultaneously build and operate an airport. The knowledge we have gained will be applied to this expansion project. We should be able to achieve this without there being any noticeable impact on travellers, says Airport Director, Øyvind Hasaas.
There will be a total of 14 aircraft parking spaces, four of which will be flexible gates that can handle traffic from areas both inside and outside the Schengen Area. The extension will provide a total area of 39,700 square metres for travellers to countries outside the Schengen Area.
– The current area will be extended, with new aircraft parking spaces that are suitable for larger planes as well as new commercial areas. In total, this will give us the capacity necessary to be a top European airport for travellers, airlines and other partners, says Hasaas. The expansion also includes adaptations for US Preclearance, but a prerequisite for realising such a solution is a binding participation from relevant airlines and a bilateral agreement between the United States and Norway. The total budget for the extension is NOK 3.3 billion and is financed by Avinor. The ground works will start in the fourth quarter of 2018.Avinor owns and operates Norway’s main airport, Oslo Airport, which is an important communications hub in Norway with approximately 25 million travellers per year.

New Avinor Oslo Airport officially open

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 28 aprile 2017

Avinor Oslo AirportAt noon today, the new Oslo Airport was officially opened, courtesy of Minister of Transport and Communications, Ketil Solvik-Olsen. Norway’s main airport opened within budget and on time. The increased capacity is at approx. 32 million passengers annually.
Representatives from the government, Norwegian aviation authorities and other specially invited guests were gathered today for the official ceremony at Oslo Airport. Just before noon, Norway’s main airport was officially opened when the Minister of Transport and Communications and the CEO of Avinor tied together a ribbon, to symbolise that “Avinor ties Norway together”. Solvik-Olsen told the attendees that Norway’s main airport is important to the whole nation:”Norway depends on a well-functioning main airport. We now have a large international airport that will be the pride of the entire nation. This is a state-run flagship project that has been on schedule and within budget. Avinor can safely be proud of the work put into this expansion”, says Solvik-Olsen.
Since construction began in 2011, there has been great focus on not letting the expansion work affect the passengers and airlines. This has been challenging, as Oslo Airport has experienced an increase in traffic each year, and surpassed 25 million passengers in 2016.”This is an important day for Norwegian aviation, and we are very proud of the new Oslo Airport. We are happy that it was delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining a high quality. The thousands of people that have worked day and night since the resolution to expand was made in the spring of 2011 deserve a big round of applause”, says Avinor Chairman, Ola Mørkved Rinnan.
Avinor CEO Dag Falk-Petersen has been following the expansion closely throughout the process and is very pleased with the result. He feels that Norway now has an airport that will benefit the entire country.(photo: Avinor Oslo Airport)
