Top American Amusement Parks Ranked

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 29 aprile 2023

Holidaymakers have been told the best amusement parks to visit in America as millions flock to the theme park capital of the world this summer.Holiday car rental experts at StressFreeCarRental.com have analysed the top 20 US amusement parks and ranked them based on the key ingredients that make American theme park holidays so special. With over 400 iconic amusement parks across America it can be tricky for the millions of tourists visiting every year to choose which ones to explore. Now, holiday experts have revealed a new comprehensive ranking of the best amusement parks across the US, based on factors such as distance from the airport, ticket prices and the total number of attractions. With over 18 million visitors annually, it comes as little surprise that the original is still the best with Disneyland, California topping the list.Despite not having the highest number of attractions – that award goes to Hersheypark, Pennsylvania with 75 – Disney is unmatched when it comes to catering for everyone’s needs, having by far and away the most food and drink options at 119.Beating all the Universal parks and Florida based Disney reports in the ranking is Cedar Point, Ohio, which makes it to second place. The self proclaimed ‘Roller Coaster Capital of the World’ ranks surprisingly high thanks to the sheer number of attractions, 72, and being the cheapest of all to visit at only $45 at peak time.Like Hersheypark, Pennsylvania, which is the largest park on the list and boasts the most attractions, 75, Cedar Point has no hotels nearby suggesting that these parks primarily cater to American thrill seekers. But canny tourists can enjoy these great value, highly rated theme parks if they want to explore off the beaten track and try out something new.Florida dominates the top 20 index, with 8 amusement parks in the state making the list – including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld Orlando which both receive over four million visitors annually, despite ticket prices being over $130.The only theme park in Tennessee to make the list was Dollywood, ranking 10th, with the second most number of water rides, affordable ticket prices and plenty of food vendors.Three Six Flags parks are also among the top 20 – ranking 9th, 11th and 19th – in Illinois, New Jersey and California – all with high numbers of attractions despite low Instagram hashtag numbers.Despite featuring near the bottom of the list, adrenaline junkies should head to Six Flags Magic Mountain which boasts a massive 20 roller coasters, the most of any park on the list.John Charnock, CEO of StressFreeCarRental.com said: “Millions of tourists flock to America every year to experience some of the best amusement parks on the planet.

Why saving American democracy starts with the Republicans

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 3 gennaio 2022

Our last cover of 2021 assesses the state of the Republican Party nearly a year after the Capitol riots and ahead of the mid-term elections in November. Americans are anxious about the stability of their democracy. Roughly 40% of politically active people say that members of the other tribe are evil; 60% believe they are a threat to the country. Pundits routinely talk about the decay of political life. Some have gone so far as to warn of the risk of civil war. America’s political sickness became terrifyingly apparent after the attack by Trump supporters on the Capitol. Today, fully 70% of Republican voters still believe that the presidential election in 2020 was stolen. Extreme partisanship and the Republican Party’s denial about the election make a dangerous combination. Yet easily lost in the daily diet of outrage is a fundamental truth about two-party politics: Democrats and Republicans need each other for the system to function. Renewal therefore must flow through the Republican Party. That will be hard—but not as hard as the catastrophists would have it. Zanny Minton Beddoes Editor-In-Chief The Economist

The Economist this week: Donald Trump is the author of the attack on the heart of American democracy

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 7 gennaio 2021

By The Economist: “Our cover this week focuses on the sickening sight of a sitting president urging a mob to march on Congress—and then praising it after it had descended into rioting. Be in no doubt that Donald Trump is the author of this attack on the heart of American democracy. His lies fed the grievance, his disregard for the constitution focused it on Congress and his demagoguery lit the fuse. The violence pretended to be a show of power. In fact it masked two defeats. While Mr Trump’s supporters were breaking and entering, Congress was certifying the results of the president’s incontrovertible loss in November. And as a rabble was smashing windows, Democrats were celebrating a pair of unlikely victories in Georgia that will give them control of the Senate. The mob’s grievances will reverberate through the Republican Party as it finds itself in opposition. That could have profound consequences for the imminent presidency of Joe Biden”. By Zanny Minton Beddoes Editor-In-Chief The Economist (Photo copyright The Economist) Four years ago Donald Trump stood in front of the Capitol building to be sworn into office and promised to end “American carnage”. His term is concluding with a sitting president urging a mob to march on Congress—and then praising it after it had resorted to violence. Be in no doubt that Mr Trump is the author of this lethal attack on the heart of American democracy. His lies fed the grievance, his disregard for the constitution focused it on Congress and his demagoguery lit the fuse. Pictures of the mob storming the Capitol, gleefully broadcast in Moscow and Beijing just as they were lamented in Berlin and Paris, are the defining images of Mr Trump’s unAmerican presidency. The Capitol violence pretended to be a show of power.

American Academy of Optometry

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 28 ottobre 2019

US-based medical device company and manufacturer of the NaturalVue® (etafilcon A) Multifocal 1 Day Contact Lenses Visioneering Technologies, Inc (ASX: VTI) (‘Visioneering’ or ‘the Company’) will be presenting the science behind the NaturalVue® Multifocal (etafilcon A) 1 Day Contact Lens with a poster on Friday, October 25. The poster, entitled “Instantaneous Power Profiles vs Sagittal Power Profiles of Various Center Distance Multifocal Lenses” was authored by Rosa Lee, MS, Peg Achenbach, OD, FAAO, Jim Schwiegerling, PhD. Authors Rosa Lee and Dr. Peg Achenbach will be on-hand to share insights from the data from 10:00am to noon (Poster #54).The patent for the design of the NaturalVue Multifocal lens describes the optics of this unique, extended depth of focus lens in terms of instantaneous power. While familiar to many specialists, instantaneous power may be less familiar to the broader community. Partnering with Lambda-x, a customized algorithm was developed using the fundamental concepts of differential geometry to describe the instantaneous power profile of the contact lenses.
The scientific community uses two methods of expressing the power profile in a lens design:
Sagittal (also called axial or radial)
Instantaneous (also called tangential)
Both methods of description are useful in creating and describing lens designs, but provide different information and are used for different purposes. The poster concluded that understanding the optical design of multifocal contact lenses may help predict how it may act on eye, because not all center distance, center near, or extended depth of focus lenses are created the same way. This experiment showed that it is not enough to look at the power difference between the periphery of the optical zone and the center of the lens to estimate the ADD of a lens, the entire profile is important to help determine the performance of the lens. While sagittal power describes a wavefront as it intersects the optical axis, instantaneous power allows us to assess the “true focus,” by describing the wavefront without forcing the focal point to fall on the optical axis.

American Lending Center Expands EB-5 Opportunities in Hong Kong

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 24 ottobre 2019

American Lending Center (ALC), a leading EB-5 regional center, has strengthened its presence and increased resources in Hong Kong amid burgeoning interest in the EB-5 investment opportunities. ALC will support new investors and continue laying groundwork to establish themselves in the area as Hong Kong develops into a key Asian EB-5 market.“We have increased our Hong Kong footprint after noticing growing demand for uniquely successful EB-5 investment opportunities,” stated John Shen, ALC’s Chief Executive Officer. “Just as we expanded our operations in Taiwan, Vietnam and India, ALC is excited to lead industry growth in the region by ensuring the EB-5 program remains a sustainable pathway of investment and immigration.” While EB-5 interest has grown steadily in Hong Kong over the last 10 years, the number of EB-5 visas issued to Hong Kong residents increased sharply in 2019. EB5 Investors Magazine chose to host their first ever EB-5 Expo in Hong Kong on October 19th, further indicating the industry’s movement in that direction. ALC will join this conference as a Platinum sponsor and John Shen will be a panelist, discussing the “The Future of EB-5.” ALC’s predominant focus on placing EB-5 investments exclusively in the senior loan structure has created the best capital protection for investors throughout the EB-5 process. Its rigorous construction management system led by highly successful third parties, in coordination with the senior loan operation, has driven the consistent success of its investments. As a result, ALC has successfully provided over 350 million dollars to American ventures and created over 10,000 full-time jobs throughout the US. It has achieved a 100 percent construction success rate and fully refunded the EB-5 investors who obtained permanent green cards.

The AON Pharmacy streamlines the process of filling prescriptions for cancer patients who are being treated with oral oncolytic medications. The AON Pharmacy is a prime example of this. Pharmacy staff members not only handle the complicated insurance authorization process, they also work with patients and educate them about potential side effects of these powerful cancer drugs and ensure that patients are compliant and understand how to take prescribed medications.”Director of Pharmacy Ray Bailey added, “Our pharmacists are experts in oncology medications and they are available to speak with both patients and physicians, as needed. Through the AON Pharmacy, which ships directly to patients’ homes, usually within 48 to 72 hours, patients have easier, more convenient and much faster access to the medications they need.”

American InterContinental UniversityAmerican InterContinental University (AIU®) is proud to announce a new specialization for its Bachelor of Business Administration degree program. Developed by AIU and Le Cordon Bleu North America, the Le Cordon Bleu® Hospitality Management specialization combines the best of both worlds — a business degree that is designed to provide an education in core business foundations and development of competencies applicable in a hospitality management setting.
Dr. Ruki Jayaraman- AIU Provost and Chief Academic Officer said; “Building on the long history of Le Cordon Bleu, we have collaborated to bring this new Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality Management specialization to our Bachelor of Business Administration program. This new option provides students with the opportunity to blend a standard business program with specialty courses that exposes them to specific skills needed in the hospitality sector particularly in the hotel, restaurant, and food services industry.”
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program focuses on core business foundations while the specialization allows students to engage in an in-depth study in their areas of interest. The Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality Management specialization introduces students to concepts and practices related to event management, food and beverage management, and food service operations, and learn about the evolution of gastronomy and oenology as an industry. The program is also designed to help students develop skills to start a hospitality business. Curriculum for the specialization areas have been derived from Le Cordon Bleu’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs. The business programs at American InterContinental University are programmatically accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

VEDC and JPMorgan Chase Announce Loan Fund for African American-Owned Small

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 29 ottobre 2015

New YorkNEW YORK, October 23, 2015 /3BL Media/ – VEDC and JPMorgan Chase & Co. today announced a new lending program for African American-owned small businesses in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. The National African American Small Business Loan Fund will boost economic opportunity for minority-owned businesses in these cities and help them serve low-income communities by providing them with greater access to capital, technical assistance and financial consulting. JPMorgan Chase Foundation has contributed a $3 million grant to help VEDC reach its goal of creating a $30 million loan fund.Facilitated by VEDC, a California 501(c)3 Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), this new Fund will provide financing for businesses across all industries. By providing the initial $3 million grant to seed the Fund, JPMorgan Chase is helping VEDC support small businesses that are a critical source of jobs and economic opportunity in their neighborhoods, but may be credit-impaired and unable to qualify for traditional capital. Without access to sustainable financing, these businesses may miss a growth opportunity or risk closing their operations.“As a direct small business lender and a leading intermediary of SBA loan programs, VEDC has a 39-year track record of providing business services to small businesses in low-and middle-income communities and especially in communities of color,” said Robert Barragan, President and CEO, VEDC. “Approximately 20 percent of our existing portfolio serves the African American community. With JPMorgan Chase’s seed funding, we look forward to helping more small businesses in our effort to further narrow the lending gap.” Currently, there are 268,000 African American-owned small businesses in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles – making them among the top cities for African American-owned small businesses. With ownership of approximately 1.9 million, 7 percent of small businesses nationwide, African Americans are the fastest growing segment of small business owners. [1]However, business loans to African American entrepreneurs have yet to rebound since the economic downturn in 2008. To address this need, the National African American Small Business Loan Fund will provide short and long-term loans. Loan sizes will vary, but the average loan will range from $35,000 to $250,000. The JPMorgan Chase grant will allow the National African American Small Business Loan Fund to provide loans and technical assistance and establish a loan loss reserve. This reserve will allow VEDC to expand its lending criteria to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles small businesses that traditionally did not qualify for a loan. “African American small business owners have identified flexible capital as a critical resource for growth, but they face a shortage of this kind of support,” said Janis Bowdler, Head of Community Development for Global Philanthropy, JPMorgan Chase. “CDFIs like VEDC provide small businesses with the consulting and financing they need to grow their operations and often serve as a bridge to traditional bank loans down the road. We’re proud to partner with VEDC on this new fund, which will increase access to the capital and assistance that African American entrepreneurs need most.” Businesses receiving financing will be able to use the capital to expand, finance equipment, address short-term cash flow needs and provide contractor lines of credit. The Fund will also provide small business loan recipients with technical assistance such as networking, marketing, business plan development and financial consulting. Eligible small businesses must be majority-owned by African Americans.
“This new lending program will be another critical piece in our ongoing efforts to promote small business development and entrepreneurship in all Chicago communities, and particularly those that have traditionally lacked access to capital,” said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “By investing in Chicago’s minority-owned businesses, VEDC and JPMorgan Chase are showing the power of the private sector to help cities tackle some of our biggest challenges.” “African American-owned small businesses are vital economic engines in Los Angeles, and when they are empowered, our communities have new doors open to them — opportunities that they both need and deserve,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “We expect great things from this fund, and thank VEDC and JPMorgan Chase for their commitment to addressing this great need.” “These small businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. “They put people to work and create opportunity for families to make their way up the economic ladder. We are excited to partner with JPMorgan Chase and our fellow cities to support and grow African-American small businesses.” “We know that mission lenders hold the key in providing a sustainable source of capital to minority borrowers and those that have been left out of the economic mainstream,” said Grady Hedgespeth, Director of U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Economic Opportunity.
