Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 15 Mag 2018

E-flyer-TheBodyLink-FirstPart-RedStampArtGallery-Amsterdam.jpgAmsterdam Saturday 19 May 2018 – 17:00 / 21:00 (Exhibition: 19 May – 16 June 2018) Radisson Blu Hotel, Red Stamp Art Gallery Rusland 22, is pleased to present THE BODY LINK I, first part of an exhibition that, through the personal sensibilities and readings of contemporary artists, throws a look at the wide and universal theme of the body, physical connection that binds the human conscience to the material sphere, to sensoriality, to the awareness of the identity, to experiencing life and being in the world, within the dimension of space and time.
The first phase of the exposition, which will open on Saturday and can be visited until the 16th of June 2018, proposes the vision and insights on the topic of seven international authors (from Italy, France, Japan and the Netherlands): Armida Gandini, Lory Ginedumont, Virginia Monteverde, Jean Sadao, Ellen Schippers, Sara Tirelli, Marilena Vita.
THE BODY LINK, curated by Sonia Arata, suggests, with an open title, the predisposition and the interest to receive the multiple interpretative meanings offered by each of the presented artworks: video and photographic works, the latter however always related to a dynamic sequentiality or a performative action.
The show, which is composed of two parts, will continue during a subsequent exhibition event, in October 2018, through the point of view of a second group of artists.

EMA: lavoro agenzia a rischio se l’edificio di Amsterdam viene ritardato

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 23 febbraio 2018

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 febbraio 2018

CENTAUROMACHY, Christian Zanotto’s personal exhibition

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 29 gennaio 2018

zanotto christianAmsterdam. Red Stamp Art Gallery is pleased to present CENTAUROMACHY, Christian Zanotto’s personal exhibition the show is curated by Sonia Arata and takes place from the 23rd of December 2017 till the 3rd of February 2018 at the gallery’s location, in the heart of the historical center of Amsterdam.
On display are artworks which, after their premiere at important international events, are exhibited for the first time in the Netherlands: recent works on crystal, videos and an holographic theca which “bring on stage” powerful and enigmatic representations of intense charm; complex compositions emerge from a captivating and mirroring black background with their multiple, precious and refined details.
These virtual sculptures have been created with mastery through a unique use of digital mediums which combines the plasticity and the material physicality of traditional painting and sculptural techniques with the intangibility, the lightness and the ubiquity of the numerical universe; it’s an artistic investigation which involves continuous experimentation and studies on perception and vision, in search of new expressive forms and unprecedented shifts of knowledge, with the elaboration of a visual cosmos that’s constructed as a symbolic alphabet, in whose imaginary past, present and future mix.The common thread is the theme of centauromachy and of battle, a constant tension of conquest and supremacy, a vital tangle of forces and impulses, in the sense of a chromatic-compositional tapestry, where conflict and equilibrium alternate, a field of intricate dynamics of creation and destruction, weaving in which the intertwining of opposites generates varied configurations; the mythological figure of the centaur encompasses the oscillating balance between the mighty instinctual energy, the brutal and uncontrolled force, the thrust of impulses and the light of intellect, rationality, wisdom and discernment: two opposing spheres which, in their union, can give rise to harmonious or scary results. The artworks contain a comprehensive collection of links to contemporary and universal thematics and events, which range from the scale of the self and the individual, to that of the masses, till the sphere of arcane and hieratic entities and obscure powers, allusions to implied directives and hidden plots, in a broad and emblematic outline of various aspects of our era. Friends of the Earth International urges states to advance talks on binding treaty to reign in corporate abuse

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 20 ottobre 2017

amsterdamAmsterdam. Ahead of the next round of talks on a UN treaty on transnational corporations and human rights in Geneva on 23-27 October 2017, Friends of the Earth International is urging states to enter constructively on negotiations for a legally binding treaty to hold transnational corporations to account on human rights and environmental abuses.Lucia Ortiz, Friends of the Earth International, said:“There are currently hundreds of legally binding agreements to protect the commercial interests of transnational corporations abroad, but no treaty to hold them to account on human rights. We need a binding treaty that will reign in abuses. Concrete treaty elements are now on the table to provide a minimum basis for negotiations, but the UN process must be protected from undue influence of big business and avoid conflict of interest of non-state actors participation.”According to Friends of the Earth International and its member groups around the world, transnational corporations fuel global climate, food, financial and humanitarian crises, and their disregard for the environment and intimidation of local activists defending it must be stopped. Apollin Koagne Zouapet, Friends of the Earth Africa, said:
“For the thousands of communities affected by corporate impunity in Africa and elsewhere, a treaty would provide the right to justice through an international tribunal. In some cases, the very survival of certain local indigenous peoples depends on it.”Alberto Villarreal, Friends of the Earth Latin America and the Caribbean, said:“Transnational corporations are ravaging our territories to further boost profits, but hide behind their hundreds of national identities and their chains of supply to escape responsibility for the impacts of their decisions. The corporate veil must be lifted and corporate decision makers brought to account.” Khalisah Khalid, Friends of the Earth Asia Pacific, said:
“International financial institutions and transnational corporations are currently shielded by immunity from legal suits. The treaty must enable aggrieved parties to hold corporations to account through local courts and international tribunals. It must also protect environment defenders, especially women, who are more vulnerable to pressure when defending their territories form corporate greed.”
Anne van Schaik, Friends of the Earth Europe said:“The European Commission (EC) is still very reluctant to engage in this process.. Yet European citizens and the European Parliament have spoken out repeatedly in support of the treaty. France has already adopted a pioneering law on duty of care for multinationals in 2017 that could inspire them. The EC needs to embrace this opportunity and show its citizens that it cares about human rights.”This will be the third session of the intergovernmental working group (IWG) on transnational corporations and other business enterprises on human rights. Negotiations on the draft text of the Treaty elements are expected and environmental organizations, affected communities and social movements worldwide will be mobilized to monitor the UN process and its outcomes.A Friends of the Earth International delegation will be present at the session, including environmental justice activists, human rights defenders and representatives of affected communities from: Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, El Salvador, Finland, France, Honduras, Hungary, Indonesia, Mozambique, Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Uruguay.

Dichiarazione di Amsterdam per fermare la deforestazione

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 20 Mag 2017

Greenpeace reacts to the REN21 “Renewables 2016 Status Report”

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 2 giugno 2016

amsterdamAmsterdam. Responding to the REN21 report which takes a global looks at the renewable energy sector, Greenpeace International global energy strategist, Emily Rochon said:“Although the deck remains stacked against renewables – with fossil fuel subsidies, low fuel prices, problems accessing the grid, vested interests and government inertia – they are still breaking through. If renewables can add 147 GW of power in 2015 with this economic picture, imagine what they could achieve if the cards were even.”The cost competitiveness of renewable energy is driving this transformation, even with low fossil fuel prices. But governments must accelerate this change by stopping investment in fossil fuels and diverting that money to renewable energy because it is the only chance we have to deliver the Paris Agreement’s objective of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5C. The G7 says it will end “inefficient” fossil fuel subsidies by 2025. G7 countries, and all others, need to end fossil fuel use, not just subsidies, and by 2050 at the latest. Accelerating the take-up of renewables is the best way to achieve this.

Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council honours International Campaign for Responsible Technology and GoodElectronics Network for their work on chemicals

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 27 Mag 2016

amsterdamAmsterdam. The GoodElectronics Network and the International Campaign for Responsible Technology (ICRT) have been awarded the 2016 Public Interest Advocate Award by the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) for their work on the responsible management of hazardous chemical substances during the production process of ICT hardware. In announcing the award, the SPLC declared that the actions of the both network organisations “have enabled institutional purchasers to better understand and take responsibility for the consequences of their spending”.
Alejandro Gonzalez (coordinator GoodElectronics): “We feel honoured to receive this award on behalf of all members of the GoodElectronics Network as it highlights and promotes our efforts towards guaranteeing respect of human rights, workers’ rights and the environment throughout the entire production cycle of the electronic industry“.The use of chemicals in the electronics industry cause illness and deaths upon workers over the world. Civil society organisations report hundreds of cases of electronics production workers who have fallen ill over the past few years in China, Thailand and South Korea from exposure to benzene and other chemicals used in electronics manufacturing. The illness patterns are very similar to the illnesses originally documented in Silicon Valley during the early days of electronics manufacturing.
On March 2015, ICRT, GoodElectronics with support of allies around the world, issued the ‘Chemicals Challenge’ to the electronics industry, calling upon them to adopt safer and more sustainable manufacturing practices and to proactively reduce and eliminate chemical and physical hazards through the development and adoption of safer alternatives. More than 200 civil society organisations and individuals from more than 40 countries have endorsed the Chemicals Challenge. Later they published ‘Meeting the Challenge’ with detailed recommendations for the industry. The overall response of the electronics industry to the Chemicals Challenge has been one of ‘wait and see’. Individuals companies contacted by ICRT and GoodElectronics all deferred to the position of the industry body Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC). ICRT and GoodElectronics have entered into a dialogue with EICC. The concerns about human rights and workers’ rights abuses in relation to occupational health and safety and protection of environment remain unabated as gross violations persist.
Ted Smith (ICRT): “We will continue our work on chemical safety. Currently we are working on a gap analysis that identifies weaknesses in the EICC code and audit protocol and compares them to the Chemicals Challenge. We have offered to engage with the industry to work together for safer chemicals. This award encourages us to carry on.”

Amsterdam app agency creates new form of mobile poker

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 13 Mag 2016

amsterdamAmsterdam. PokerConnect is the first poker app which allows you to play across platforms offline. How? Each player has the PokerConnect app on his or her own device. This can be a tablet or phone, either iOS or Android. We are proud to announce a scoop for our poker app: smooth interfacing between these two major operating systems. As they say: the best ideas fit onto the back of a beer mat. The PokerConnect beer mat was scribbled during a team outing by app developer DTT Multimedia from Amsterdam, a team of young app fanatics whose motto is “work hard, play hard”. During the week, they work on developing app concepts. On Friday nights after work, they socialise; for example, by playing a round of poker. In early 2015, the DTT team was in a bar at Spui in Amsterdam. Time for a game. As befits loyal app fans, they opened the app stores. Finding an app that would serve as a poker table turned out to be a hell of a job. And so the PokerConnect idea was born. That’s the way it can go: from a scribble on a beer mat to a unique concept that goes on to conquer the app stores. The app serves as a digital poker table. The goal was to create a poker experience that would be identical to playing poker in real life – which means enabling users to play against friends, one on one or with a group of up to ten people. You can play with real money or with chips. The advantage compared to playing at a physical poker table with friends is that no one has to deal. The smooth cross platform operations between iOS and Android is what makes PokerConnect unique. DTT Multimedia software development company, in the person of Jeffrey van Dijk, says of this breakthrough: “Getting the iOS and Android operating systems to communicate via a server is common these days. But the challenge with PokerConnect was to achieve this communication offline. After all, not every poker fan can rely on a good internet connection wherever they are. After more than a year of development, the game is now ready for the general public. However, this is only the start and we’re going to enrich the game even further in the future.” PokerConnect is free to download for Apple and Android devices. Eager for a first impression of the game? View the video. The application was developed by DTT Multimedia, which has previously supplied apps for, among others, ING bank, FOX Sports, Boston Consultancy Group, Belkin and the Dutch government. Risks and challenges of multinational corporations operating in fragile and conflict-affected areas

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 15 gennaio 2016

amsterdamAmsterdam. Wars and conflicts continue to destabilise large parts of the world. In 2014, there were more than 400 political conflicts. This includes 21 full-fledged wars, spread over the entire world, but concentrated in the Middle East, the Maghreb region and Sub-Saharan Africa. Worldwide, 55 million people fled their homes – as refugees or as internally displaced people. The result is that more and more businesses are currently operating in fragile and conflict-affected areas – either because they were already operating in a country when a conflict broke out, or because they arrived in a country that was already engaged in a conflict or during the post-conflict phase because they see opportunities for business. A new SOMO paper focuses on these risks and challenges, and offers recommendations on how to reduce business-related human rights violations in conflict-affected areas.Human rights abuses in conflict-affected areas, the lack of corporate accountability in such situations and the risk of sparking or intensifying a conflict are three types of risks that this paper addresses. The report highlights a number of cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo to illustrate to what degree multinational companies are involved. A local subsidiary of Dutch beer manufacturer Heineken, for example, was allegedly paying taxes to rebel groups engaged in human rights violations. Meanwhile, a local subsidiary of the Swiss-German Danzer Group, a major timber company, was accused in a German court of complicity in a violent attack on local villagers by Congolese police and military forces. In a report published last year on cobalt mining in Katanga province, it was reported that a Chinese mining company has violently ended peaceful protests by workers to demand a fair remuneration and respect for their rights, with some protesters dying in the event.‘These cases are just some notable examples’, says SOMO researcher Mark van Dorp, ‘and they reflect some of the challenges that companies encounter when operating in conflict-affected areas. Companies are confronted with questions such as: Should they be paying rebels or security forces to protect their assets? What are the criteria for assessing whether local business partners have been engaged in war crimes? And how can companies avoid buying conflict minerals or agro-commodities? Ultimately, companies should take extra care to act responsibly when operating in conflict-affected areas, because the most serious human rights abuses take place in exactly those settings.’This paper calls on governments to introduce measures to make ‘enhanced due diligence’ processes mandatory for any company, irrespective of where their operations are located, but with a special focus on companies operating in conflict-affected areas. The authors recommend that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court initiate an investigation into the conduct of corporate agents regarding their individual criminal liability for international crimes committed by their subsidiaries or business partners. This would complement the current practice of holding only political or military leaders criminally responsible. Moreover, the authors also propose including conflict sensitivity as a key aspect of international standards for responsible business practices that will serve as an added tool for the prevention of harmful practices of multinational companies in conflict settings.

Globally, more than 160,000 merchants use the company’s platform to process their payments and over 10 million buyers have registered to its online and mobile services which allow no less than 250 payment methods across the globe. In 2015, the company registered a double digit growth (ranging from 40% to 80%) in each of its markets with Colombia, India, Russia and Turkey showing the highest growth. According to Larry Illg, CEO of PayU Group, both external and internal factors contributed to propel the company’s outstanding results in these key regions as well as in the rest of the world:“We are seeing that growth markets from around the world come online in a major way thanks to continuous advancements in technology”, highlights Illg. “The apparition of middle-classes and the increasingly important role of mobile devices in emerging regions both contribute to the current shift in worldwide commerce and lay the ideal conditions for the implementation of our tailored solutions.”
By being physically present in each of the country it operates in, PayU is able to better understand the needs of consumers and adapt its services in order to deliver more accurate and up-to-date solutions. “The current state of global economy certainly impacts growth markets but it has minimal influence on long term business-builders like PayU”, explains Illg. ”Our strategy and ambition for 2016 is to sustain our growth by improving the e-commerce education of all parties, enhancing the online shopping experience for both merchants and consumers and, last but certainly no least, battling against fraud with innovative technology.’’
PayU is the leading online payment service provider dedicated to creating a fast, simple and efficient payment process for merchants and buyers in 16 high growth countries in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
