Apple Unveils Groundbreaking New Technologies for App Development

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 5 giugno 2019

Apple® today unveiled several innovative technologies that make it dramatically easier and faster for developers to create powerful new apps. SwiftUI™ is a revolutionary development framework that makes building powerful user interfaces easier than ever before. ARKit 3, RealityKit™ and Reality Composer™ are advanced tools designed to make it even easier for developers to create compelling AR experiences for consumer and business apps. New tools and APIs greatly simplify the process of bringing iPad® apps to Mac®. And updates to Core ML® and Create ML™ allow for more powerful and streamlined on-device machine learning apps.
The vision for Swift™ has always been about making development faster, easier and more interactive, and a modern UI framework is a huge part of that vision. SwiftUI provides an extremely powerful and intuitive new user interface framework for building sophisticated app UIs. Using simple, easy-to-understand declarative code, developers can create stunning, full-featured user interfaces complete with smooth animations. SwiftUI saves developers time by providing a huge amount of automatic functionality including interface layout, Dark Mode, Accessibility, right-to-left language support and internationalization. SwiftUI apps run natively and are lightning fast. And because SwiftUI is the same API built into iOS, iPadOS™, macOS®, watchOS® and tvOS™, developers can more quickly and easily build rich, native apps across all Apple platforms.

Apple Supports Malala Fund Expansion in Latin America

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 16 luglio 2018

Apple launched a new collaboration between its 10 Apple Developer Academies in Brazil and Malala Fund to advance girls’ education opportunities. As part of its new expansion into Latin America, Malala Fund, which works to provide safe, quality secondary education and opportunities for girls, has also offered grants to local advocates in Brazil. The advocates join Malala Fund’s network of Gulmakai champions and will implement projects across the country designed to empower girls, teachers and policymakers through skills development, school enrollment efforts and education advocacy.
The challenge will harness the creativity and ingenuity of Apple Developer Academy students and alumni in Brazil, giving them the opportunity to work with Malala Fund to design and develop apps that enhance education opportunities for girls. The challenge will also encourage students to find ways to better enable Malala Fund’s network of Gulmakai champions around the world to communicate and share best practices in a secure environment. The young developers at the Apple Developer Academy in Rio met Malala Yousafzai on Friday when she visited the students and explained the important role the developers will play in supporting the fund’s mission to provide education opportunities to girls across the globe.“My hope is that every girl, from Rio to Riyadh, can be free to choose her own future,” said Malala Yousafzai. “Whether she wants to be a developer, a pilot, a dancer or a politician, education is the best path to a brighter future. By tapping into Apple’s network of student developers, Malala Fund will gain access to new tools to support our mission of free, safe, quality education. The students in Apple’s Developer Academy program share my passion for improving the world around us, and I am eager to see their innovative ideas to help girls in Brazil and across the globe.” “We share Malala’s goal of getting more girls into quality education and are thrilled to be deepening our partnership with Malala Fund by mobilizing thousands of Apple Developer Academy students and alumni across Brazil,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Apple has been committed to education since day one, and we can’t wait to see what our creative student developers come up with to help Malala Fund make a difference for girls around the world.” “The students in the Apple Developer Academy program are passionate about using their skills to support their communities, and this challenge gives them the opportunity to make a real difference in the world,” said Beatriz Magalhães, a former Apple Developer Academy student who is now a design teacher with the program. “Within minutes of the announcement, students were already brainstorming creative ways to address this global challenge.”In January, Apple became Malala Fund’s first Laureate partner, enabling the organization to double the number of grants awarded by its Gulmakai Network and fund new programs in Latin America and India, with the initial goal of extending secondary education opportunities to more than 100,000 girls.Since 2013, more than 3,000 students have gone through the Apple Developer Academy program in Brazil, with another 500 currently enrolled in 10 sites located in Brasilia, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Seventy-five students from Brazil attended this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Jose, California, as scholarship winners.Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Apple Launches New Clean Energy Fund in China

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 15 luglio 2018

Apple® today announced a new first-of-its-kind investment fund in China to connect suppliers with renewable energy sources. As part of Apple’s commitment to address climate change and increase the use of renewable energy within its supply chain, 10 initial suppliers and Apple will jointly invest nearly $300 million over the next four years into the China Clean Energy Fund. The fund will invest in and develop clean energy projects totaling more than 1 gigawatt of renewable energy in China, the equivalent of powering nearly 1 million homes.“At Apple, we are proud to join with companies that are stepping up to address the climate challenge,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives. “We’re thrilled so many of our suppliers are participating in the fund and hope this model can be replicated globally to help businesses of all sizes make a significant positive impact on our planet.Transitioning to clean energy can be complex. This is especially true for smaller companies that may not have access to viable clean energy sources. By virtue of its size and scale, the China Clean Energy Fund will give its participants the advantage of greater purchasing power and the ability to attain more attractive and diverse clean energy solutions. The China Clean Energy Fund will be managed through a third party, DWS Group, which specializes in sustainable investments and will also invest in the fund.Today’s news follows Apple’s announcement earlier this year that its global facilities are powered by 100 percent clean energy and the launch of its Supplier Clean Energy Program in 2015. Since that program began, 23 manufacturing partners, operating in more than 10 different countries, have committed to powering all of their Apple production with 100 percent clean energy. Apple and its suppliers will generate more than 4 gigawatts of new clean energy worldwide by 2020 — representing one-third of Apple’s current manufacturing electricity footprint.Apple is also working with its suppliers to find new ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company recently announced it reached a breakthrough with aluminum suppliers Alcoa Corporation and Rio Tinto Aluminum on a new technology that eliminates direct greenhouse gas emissions from the traditional smelting process, a key step in aluminum production.

L’intelligenza artificiale fa parte della nostra vita

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 12 giugno 2018

After a bite of Apple, Margrethe Vestager targets another tech giant

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 6 ottobre 2017

margretheMARGRETHE VESTAGER’S assault on technology firms she deems to have improperly massaged down their tax bills continued this week with a tilt at Amazon. The internet retailer faces a bill of €250m ($293m) for back taxes over what the European Union’s competition commissioner considers to have been an illegal sweetheart deal with Luxembourg. The order requiring the Grand Duchy to recover the money follows a well-publicised three-year investigation. It is the latest in a series of tax-avoidance cases brought by the European Commission against multinationals, most of them American. Last year, Ireland was ordered to recover €13bn from Apple—smashing all past records for EU corporate-tax cases. As with Apple, the commission concluded that Amazon received illegal state aid—in the retailer’s case between 2006 and 2014—through a tax-cutting arrangement that was unavailable to its rivals. This came in the form of a ruling from Luxembourg’s tax authority, known as a “comfort letter”. Amazon accordingly moved intellectual property of various types into a Luxembourg partnership that served as an intermediary between Amazon’s European operations—whose headquarters was a separate Luxembourg entity—and its American parent. As a partnership, the go-between was not subject to tax under Luxembourg law (the statutory corporate rate is 29.22%). The European operating company was.The operating company was required to pay to the partnership substantial royalties for, among other things, the right to use the Amazon name, thereby shifting lots of profit to the untaxed entity. The commission argues that the level of royalty payments was inflated and did not reflect economic reality. It says the arrangement allowed Amazon to avoid tax on three-quarters of all profits on its sales in the EU (which the company does not disclose). Both Luxembourg and Amazon deny wrongdoing. Luxembourg’s authorities have said before that Amazon chose to put its main European operations in the tiny landlocked country for a variety of reasons, tax not being the main one. They have also pointed out that its operations in Luxembourg are hardly empty shell companies: the company employs over 1,500 people there (though the IP-holding partnership, which no longer exists, had no employees or offices). Amazon says it did not receive special treatment and is considering an appeal. This week’s order could stoke transatlantic tensions. After the Apple ruling last year, American politicians queued up to echo the sentiments of Tim Cook, the firm’s boss, who derided Ms Vestager’s action as “total political crap”. Many of them saw Brussels’s tax probes as being driven by tech-envy, not sound economics. Washington hinted at retaliation, though nothing specific has been tabled. The commission’s critics have a point. The details of the case are complex, and tax experts will disagree about the legality of the arrangements under the spotlight, just as they did with Apple. Few would deny that the frayed patchwork of international corporate-tax rules need reforming; one proposal, espoused by President Emmanuel Macron of France and supported by several other EU countries, would see multinationals taxed on revenues in particular territories instead of on profits. However, punishing a company for a 14-year-old ruling from a national government, happily accepted by both sides at the time, looks harsh. The uncertainty it stokes may also dampen foreign investors’ interest in Europe.Ms Vestager’s ruling will add to the discomfort felt by Jean-Claude Juncker, the commission’s president, who was prime minister of Luxembourg when the tax arrangement in question was hammered out. Mr Juncker has been widely pilloried for having run a government that sucked tax revenue from neighbouring countries through behind-closed-doors deals with big companies. He has been on the back foot since the “LuxLeaks” revelations in 2014, which exposed hundreds of cushy deals with multinationals. In the wake of that data breach, Luxembourg and other EU member states agreed to start systematically providing each other with detailed information about such arrangements.
American firms should brace for further scrutiny of past tax deals. The commission is also looking into the tax affairs of McDonald’s and FiatChrysler in Luxembourg, and those of Starbucks in the Netherlands. The only non-American firm known to be in its sights on tax is Engie, a French utility. The Apple case is likely to produce plenty more drama, too. The company and Ireland are both appealing. The commission, meanwhile, is taking Ireland to the European Court of Justice over its failure to collect the €13bn that it has been told it is owed but clearly does not want. (by The Economist)

Apple utilizza i materiali riciclati

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 22 aprile 2017

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 17 settembre 2016

Apple e i suoi benefici fiscali

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 1 settembre 2016

Apple should pay more tax, says co-founder Wozniak

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 23 aprile 2016

Warwick_Business_School_Scarman_road_viewExpert comment on Steve Wozniak suggesting Apple and other companies should pay a 50% tax rate. Crawford Spence, a Professor of Accounting at Warwick Business School who is researching tax avoidance, has made the following statement: “Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak’s comments that Apple should pay more tax would have had more weight had he still been playing an active role in the company that he helped found 40 years ago.”Now, he is just another concerned citizen baffled as to why corporate behemoths like Apple manage to avoid paying tax at the same rates as many individuals, or even other companies, do.”The current executives at Apple are clearly of a different view, doing their utmost to minimise tax in anyway possible.”However, if more public criticism was showered upon them to the point where people stopped buying their products (although there is not much sign of that happening just now) then that would really start to force a rethink about whether tax minimisation strategies are really good for business or not.”

Apple avrà un futuro?

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 29 gennaio 2016

Apple is no longer the most valuable brand in the world

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 maggio 2014

alexIt lost the top spot to Google! But what are the reasons behind Tim Cook’s downfall? It turns out that Steve Jobs’s renowned tendency to ruthlessly refine his products still cultivated by Apple might actually work against the company. Conversely, Google’s fast, aggressive and varied product turnovers may have contributed to its 40% rise in value in 2014. Using Millward Brown’s latest data we have created an infographic presenting top 10 most valuable brands of 2014 that also tries to explain the reasons behind Google’s sudden rise to power. You can check out the infographic here: http://comparisons.finance sonline. com/ comparison-of-the-most-valuable-brands-of-2014/. From the infographic, you can find out that: Google’s strategy is to excite the crowds by launching beta versions (like Google Glass) early on while Apple prefers to smooth out their products before their release. Apple has the biggest drop in value (by 40%) among the top 10 brands on the list I’m sure your readers would be interested in learning how Google managed to wrestle the most valuable brand title from seemingly almighty Apple and which other companies made it to the list.Would love to know your thoughts. The infographic is free to use, just credit us, the creators, as source.(alex)

Apple ‘I’ – Too Late and Too Limited for the Automotive Market, Says Frost & Sullivan

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 23 luglio 2013

London, UK – 22nd July, 2013 – Consumer electronics giant Apple has unveiled the new IOS 7 for the automotive industry with notable changes to the interface and improved voice capabilities of personal assistant SIRI. Auto OEMs however, with their respective partners have moved many a mile without the need for Apple’s involvement. The announcement may be seen as a phased approach after last year’s announcement of SIRI EyesFree by Apple at WWDC.“If compared to other players, such as Google and Microsoft, Apple’s intention for the automotive industry seems ambiguous at large and the announcements regarding EyesFree and iOS integration is, at best, a predictable reflex reaction to being left out of the automotive OS game,” says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Krishna Jayaraman (www.automotive.frost.com). “Even if exciting, the ‘iOS for cars’ comes way too late into the market.”In 2012 Apple voiced its EyesFree partnership with nine Automotive OEMs and there were talks that this would be the next big thing for the connected car and that Apple would topple the traditional Tier Is for a much larger role in the connected car ecosystem. To date only GM, Honda, and Mercedes Benz have implemented this. Other OEMs are still focusing on the prioritisation between SIRI and the natively developed embedded voice recognition supplied by the likes of Nuance – developed for the car as primary and secondary speech recognition – and the limits of its functionality. So far only GM succeeded by creating Spark and Sonic, which includes the SIRI as a feature, while BMW is expected to follow suit with all its 2014 models.“The announcement from Apple will not make it a big threat for the traditional automotive infotainment ecosystem,” believes Mr. Jayaraman. “While OEMs – for instance, BMW – have categorically declined to use this new solution, it will be ideal for a few niche OEMs which can benefit greatly from a readymade solution such as this.” The advantage is that it is a proven platform in smartphones; there is no need to create proprietary solutions for personalisation and connectivity. Dedicated app development process and apps store for automotive are available but are limited to music, phone, navigation, and do not offer app support. In addition, the availability of Siri to control smartphone and native vehicle features could be a great boon.Apple says iOS in the Car will be adopted by a wide range of car brands, including Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Vauxhall/Opel, and Jaguar. BMW does not feature in this list, while Hyundai and Kia do. “For OEMs which have already established their infotainment systems, specifically smartphone integration with apps and content however, changing the entire architecture and implementing a completely new system becomes difficult,” cautions Mr. Jayaraman. The biggest challenge is balancing iOS with current OEM developments. OEMs’ attitude toward iOS device integration technology and their tendency to not really scout for proprietary development at all might help Apple establish its niche.OEMs are finding it hard to balance out an offering which provides the latest and greatest features but also assures safety; the recent example being Ford’s announcement of going back to buttons and switches, in addition to touch screens, clearly proving that full touch experience is not yet automotive ready. There have been major mishaps with the proprietary maps and issues with the interface in the iOS 6 release which hints at unreliability. Even though Apple has no real automotive experience, iOS7 with SIRI can be a sweet niche.OEMs, such as Ford, GM, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, and Audi, have invested in their own smartphone integration and app development efforts, while others have opted to tap into integrated ecosystems; for instance, Aha by Harman. This leaves very little room for Apple to play, but could result in the cleanest and tightest iOS device and content integration.
