Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 gennaio 2015

san franciscoThe Route des Lasers will be at booth 1323 at Photonics West and at booth #8310 at BIOS, February 7 – 12, in San Francisco, California  The Route des Lasers, a competitiveness cluster exclusively for photonics companies, today announces it will join eight of its emerging technology firms exhibiting their latest innovations at Photonics West and BIOS 2015. The innovations will span a range of light-based technologies and systems for present day and future applications. They cover everything from healthcare and consumer products to materials processing for advanced manufacturing, lighting and quantum computing. The Route des Lasers sees the US as a highly important and attractive market for photonics technologies; the main driver of innovation in the 21st century according to the European Commission. The majority of French photonics firms export. Exports represent 70 per cent of their of their production, approximately €7 billion in annual sales (source: upcoming Photonics Market Study, the French Ministry of the Economy, Finances and Industry’s Directorate General for Enterprises).Participation at Photonics West and BIOS, where 20,000 attendees are expected, creates an opportunity for them to demonstrate the technological appeal underlying their innovations to international audiences.“The Route des Lasers is excited about the remarkable innovations that its cluster members will exhibit at both BIOS and Photonics West next month. Our participation further builds on the worldwide recognition French photonics has garnered in aerospace, biomedical, automotive, telecommunications, defense and security, instrumentation and industrial processes and other fields,” said Herve Floch, VP of the Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster. “Visitors will see super resolution microscopes, new ultrafast lasers showing the ultimate in beam quality, deformable mirrors for wave-front correction of intense laser beams and learn about the 3D printing of human skin, among others. We expect high interest in our innovations on show this year from system integrators, researchers, OEMS or anyone developing photonics materials and processes. We also aim to leverage this interest by seeking new cluster collaborations.”The Route des Lasers will be at BIOS booth #8310 and Photonics West booth #1323. It will host two cocktail events: BIOS on Saturday, February 7 at 4:00pm and Photonics West on Wednesday, February 11 at 4:00pm onwards.Based in Bordeaux, France, the Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster has become one of Europe’s highest concentrations of scientific expertise in photonics. This includes developing and building one of the two largest ever laser facilities: the Laser Megajoule (LMJ), which the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls officially launched in October 2014.The Route des Lasers’ upcoming partnership with the French Tech Hub in San Francisco is one of the steps the cluster is also taking to reinforce the presence of its photonics firms in the US market. It will be coordinating regional events to celebrate the ‘International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies’.

First-time regional viewing of 13.3 inch 8K adds to the Super HiVision excitement at IBC Content Everywhere MENA

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 19 gennaio 2015

menaLondon. Super Hi-Vision is the biggest video system in the world. At 8K resolution it has 16 times the detail of today’s high definition television. On giant screens it is a stunning experience – and now NHK have developed a system that puts 8K anywhere. NHK’s Super Hi-Vision system is being demonstrated in the Middle East for the first time between 20 – 22 January 2015 at IBC Content Everywhere MENA, a three day exhibition and conference which will bring together the leaders from the converging world of media, telecoms and IT. In addition to this being the first time that 8K will be demonstrated in the MENA region, this will also be the first time that 8K is seen displayed on portable screen outside Japan. The 13.3 inch OLED screen has been developed by Semiconductor Energy Laboratory, and it will be in action alongside some very much larger displays, showing the flexibility and immersive power of high resolution video. This incredible, handheld 8K screen uses a high resolution with 664ppi, going far beyond visual limitations, creating a picture that is better than high quality printing. This means that the OLED displays videos in higher quality than photographs, producing an image that appeals to the viewer’s senses. Despite its small 13.3 inch display, the image is so sharp that it provides a close-up three dimensional effect. Whilst still in prototype phase, this development proves that 8K is not only for the big screen, but could also be used to provide a truly immersive experience on personal devices such as tables or notebooks. NHK has been responsible for some of the most important developments in television, including the plasma screen, HD and satellite television. Super Hi-Vision is its biggest technical challenge yet, and it aims to broadcast it to homes in Japan by 2018. Demonstration material to be shown at IBC Content Everywhere includes remarkable coverage of games at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Also on the programme will be video created for art galleries and museums in Japan, showing how the system is ideal for public spaces and eventsDates for forthcoming events:
IBC Content Everywhere MENA Dubai 20-22 January 2015
IBC2015 Amsterdam 11-15 September 2015
IBC Content Everywhere Europe Amsterdam 11-15 September 2015

USA: the future of health

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 5 marzo 2010

Last Thursday’s first-of-its-kind summit capped off a debate that has lasted nearly a year. Every idea has now been put on the table. Every argument has been made. Both parties agree that the status quo is unacceptable and gets more dire each day. Today, I want to state as clearly and forcefully as I know how: Now is the time to make a decision about the future of health care in America. The final proposal I’ve put forward draws on the best ideas from all sides, including several put forward by Republicans at last week’s summit. It will put Americans in charge of their own health care, ensuring that neither government nor insurance company bureaucrats can ration, deny, or put out of financial reach the care our families need and deserve. I strongly believe that Congress now owes the American people a final vote on health care reform. Reform has already passed the House with bipartisan support and the Senate with a super-majority of sixty votes. Now it deserves the same kind of up-or-down vote that has been routinely used and has passed such landmark measures as welfare reform and both Bush tax cuts. Earlier today, I asked leaders in both houses of Congress to finish their work and schedule a vote in the next few weeks. From now until then, I will do everything in my power to make the case for reform. And now, I’m asking you, the members of the Organizing for America community, to raise your voice and do the same. Essentially, my proposal would change three things about the current health care system: First, it would protect all Americans from the worst practices of insurance companies. Never again will the mother with breast cancer have her coverage revoked, see her premiums arbitrarily raised, or be forced to live in fear that a pre-existing condition will bar her from future coverage Second, my proposal would give individuals and small businesses the same choice of private health insurance that members of Congress get for themselves. And my proposal says that if you still can’t afford the insurance in this new marketplace, we will offer you tax credits based on your income — tax credits that add up to the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history.
Finally, my proposal would bring down the cost of health care for everyone — families, businesses, and the federal government — and bring down our deficit by as much as $1 trillion over the next two decades. These savings mean businesses small and large will finally be freed up to create jobs and increase wages. With costs currently skyrocketing, reform is vital to remaining economically strong in the years and decades to come. (Barack Obama)
