Mitsubishi Electric to Build Net Zero Energy Building Test Facility

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 1 febbraio 2019

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO:6503) announced today that it plans to build a new test facility for its broad and integrated portfolio of technologies for net Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) at its Information Technology R&D Center in Kamakura, Japan. The facility will accelerate the company’s development, evaluation and demonstration of ZEB technologies to meet the growing demand for buildings that combine comfort and superior energy savings. Mitsubishi Electric’s ZEB technologies are part of the company’s wide-ranging effort to help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The new facility, which will cost approximately 3.6 billion yen, is scheduled to start operating in June 2020.
ZEBs maintain comfortable indoor conditions while considerably reducing annual energy consumption compared to conventional buildings by incorporating measures such as advanced heat insulation, solar shading, natural energy and high-efficiency equipment as well as on-site energy generation (photovoltaic power, etc.), as officially defined by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The new facility will examine all such systems, which generally enable ZEBs to generate all of their necessary primary energy to operate independently.Mitsubishi Electric is helping to popularize ZEBs by providing planning and providing business-support services. The company registered with METI as an official ZEB planner in 2017. Going forward, Mitsubishi Electric aims to accelerate it development and application of ZEB technologies to contribute to higher energy savings and more comfortable living spaces. In addition, the company will contribute to more convenient office environments via its original ZEB+ concept.

To build a better world for humanity by 2015

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 3 settembre 2010

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are a series of targets agreed by the 189 UN member States in 2000 to build a better world for humanity by 2015. While progress has been made in improving lives, millions still live in unacceptable poverty, facing hunger, lack of rights, and disease.  World leaders will meet at the UN Headquarters in New York for the High-Level Meeting ‘MDG2010 Summit’ to assess progress and recommit to their pledges. Our members and partners are engaging in the meeting.  Caritas Internationalis Secretary General Lesley-Anne Knight said, “Right now over one billion people are suffering from hunger and malnutrition because they are so poor. Our promises to lift them out of poverty will fall short on current projections.  Global partnerships for justice need decisive investments now. In achieving the MDGs, Caritas says more than just 5 rich countries need to meet the long-promised target of giving 0.7 percent of national income in development aid. Aid needs to double to $100 billion a year – and be more efficient, effective and fair.  Aid must not be tied so as to benefit the giver. Recipients must be allowed to choose and plan themselves what is best to do in their countries. More debts need to be cancelled. A poor country cannot spend money on health and education if it all goes to servicing national debt. Caritas will be following the MDG2010 Summit through its office in New York, where its Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Joseph Donnelly is a member of the General Assembly President’s MDG2010 Summit Task Force.
