Oslo/Arnhem: DNV has acquired 74.3% of KEMA’s shares, creating a world-leading consulting and certification company within the cleaner energy, sustainability, power generation, transmission and distribution sectors.DNV and KEMA will form a world-leading energy consulting, testing and certification company that can drive the worldwide transition towards a safe, reliable, efficient and clean energy ecosystem. DNV KEMA will consist of all 1,800 KEMA employees and 500 employees from DNV’s renewable energy and sustainability activities. The new company will be led by Thijs Aarten, the CEO of KEMA, and headquartered in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Mr Aarten will report to a Supervisory Board chaired by DNV CEO Henrik O. Madsen.
KEMA’s activities are highly complementary to those of DNV’s existing renewable energy and sustainability businesses and all these activities will be integrated to form one compelling service offering to the global energy sector. Services will cover the entire energy value chain from energy source to end user, including wind energy, carbon capture and storage, carbon trading, energy efficiency, power generation, transmission and distribution, and energy-related testing, inspection and certification. The global energy sector is heading for significant changes and investments. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that USD 10 trillion will be spent between 2010 and 2030. Stricter environmental regulations and increased fuel costs will drive a transition towards cleaner fossil fuel and more cost-effective power generation. This transition, including that towards integrating more renewable power into the energy grids, will require system-wide changes. In the US, Europe and Asia, the shift is already under way and will be partly supported by the introduction of smart grids or intelligent energy networks. While DNV becomes the majority shareholder with a 74.3% share, Alliander retains its holding (25.4%) as does Cogas (0.3%). The transaction is subject to the approval of the US, Dutch and German competition authorities.

Dark, and night and day

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 5 dicembre 2010

New York 1105 44th Road, 3rd Floor, Long Island City. NY Jeffrey Leder Gallery presents an exhibition of works by Donna Levinstone. Levinstone’s works of art concern themselves more with a spirit of place than an actual place – they are not descriptive of a specific location or place as much as they strive to create an essence of light and atmosphere. Her current work is centered around the relationships between tranquility and volatility, the ethereal and the earthly, light and dark, and night and day. Through the reflected light in her atmospheric drawings, Levinstone invites the viewer to explore the duality of what is permanent in our world and what is ever changing in it. An active member of the community, Levinstone has made giving back a large part of her life. She donates both her time and her artwork to many charities and causes throughout the city, including conducting art therapy workshops for cancer patients. Her collectors include the Library of Congress, the Museum of the City of New York, CBS, General Electric, the US Department of State, AT&T, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Citigroup, Time Inc, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Nabisco Brands Inc, Columbia House, The Disney Company, The Bristol Meyers Company, Pfizer, The New-York Historical Society and Touche Ross.

The ability to create events

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 17 settembre 2009

London. The increasing importance of social networking websites as a recruitment tool has been further underlined after it emerged that Japanese bank Nomura used social networking website Facebook to hire former employees of Lehman Brothers after the collapse of the US investment bank last year.  Nomura has reportedly hired about 60 percent of the graduate trainees which were let go by Lehman after it went bankrupt, with Facebook playing a vital role in enabling the Japanese bank to locate the trainees it wanted to hire. Social networking websites such as Facebook, Linkedin and the micro blogging website Twitter are playing an increasingly important role, both as a recruitment tool or in the personal branding of professionals. Martin Warner, co-founder of free business social networking site, Talkbiznow.com, says: “It is no surprise that Facebook was one of the first places that Nomura went when looking for the ex-Lehman graduate trainees. Social networking websites have quickly become essential tools in business and this is just the beginning. Talkbiznow has been devised specifically to tap into the pent up demand to use social networks for business.” It is now commonplace on social networking sites to be able to search, view and contact members completely free of charge. Users also have the ability to create events, join groups and post comments in forums. The latest Ofcom report shows that 50% of internet users in Britain now have an online social networking profile. “Having an online profile now is becoming as normal as having a mobile phone; those that don’t have one are missing out on a new level of communication,” says Warner.
