PCM Announces Participation in Southwest IDEAS Conference in Dallas

EarthX Presents the World’s Largest Environmental Expo, Conference and Film Festival in Dallas

With a mission to connect the global community to create a sustainable world for all life and future generations, Texas-based nonprofit EarthX is hosting the world’s largest environmental expo, conference and film festival from April 13-22, 2018, at locations throughout Dallas.
The EarthX three-day expo, five-day group of conferences and 10-day film festival champions progress and innovation by bringing together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, interactive programming and thought leaders. The event also fosters celebration with interactive and immersive family entertainment, live music and sustainable food pavilions.Founded in 2011 by Dallas-based environmentalist and businessman Trammell S. Crow, EarthX, formerly known as Earth Day Texas, began as an outdoor event spanning five blocks of Flora Street in the Dallas Arts District. Dallas: Non basta accogliere occorre integrare

dallasDallas. “Quello che sta accadendo in questi giorni negli USA con una strana recrudescenza della conflittualità tra le forze dell’ordine e gli afroamericani deve farci capire sempre meglio cosa significhi oggi una vera inclusione all’altezza della dignità dell’uomo e del rispetto per i suoi diritti. Gli afro-americani sono americani a tutti gli effetti, lo stesso presidente degli Stati Uniti è di fatto un afroamericano; occupano posti di rilievo a tutti livelli della società americana. Hanno avuto leader che ancora oggi segnano la passione civile di tutti gli americani, senza distinzione di colore, di razza o di religione, per quel desiderio insopprimibile di libertà che caratterizza tutta la loro Carta costituzionale. Ma ancora oggi, come ai tempi della marcia di Selma, l’aggressione è in agguato e miete vittime tra gli uni e gli altri, nell’impossibilità di capire chi abbia innescato una miccia così pericolosa.”
Lo afferma l’onorevole Paola Binetti di Area popolare, che continua: “La grande lezione che ce ne viene è che non basta accogliere, occorre integrare, e non basta integrare occorre davvero fare un altro passo avanti per creare quella coscienza civica che faccia sentire tutti parte di un unico popolo: americano, italiano, francese, tedesco e perfino inglese. Le umiliazioni subite dalle prime generazioni si scaricano inevitabilmente sulle seconde generazioni che mentre cercano una legittima affermazione dei propri diritti, contestualmente devono fare i conti con quel desiderio di vendetta mai del tutto sopito per la sofferenza subita dai padri o dai nonni. La battaglia per la pace, come prerequisito per lo sviluppo, è stata al centro della predicazione di Giovanni XXIII con la Pacem in terris e successivamente di Paolo VI con la Populorum progressio, oltre 50 anni fa e ben prima di Papa Francesco. Ma nessuno ascoltò quelle voci con la concretezza di una attenzione che si fa prassi e attiva cambiamenti radicali di atteggiamenti e di chiavi di lettura dei fenomeni in cui pure siamo immersi. I fatti americani oggi proiettano l’Europa di molti anni in avanti per capire oggi quali errori evitare e quali azioni positive innescare per imparare dalla storia, senza rimanere pigramente e pericolosamente alla finestra. Il nostro governo è ancora attestato sulle primissime fasi del processo: l’accoglienza, ma si tratta di una condizione necessaria ed insufficiente. Forse potremmo davvero provare ad immaginare uno scenario più ampio e più umano”, conclude la Binetti.
