Ambarella to Demonstrate New Robotics Platform During CES 2020

Ambarella, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMBA), an AI vision silicon company, today announced that it will demonstrate its new robotics platform during CES 2020. Based on Ambarella’s CVflow® architecture, it targets automated guided vehicles (AGV), consumer robots, industrial robots, and emerging Industry 4.0 applications. The robotics platform provides a unified software infrastructure for robotics perception across Ambarella’s CVflow SoC family including the CV2, CV22, CV25, and S6LM. It provides easy access and acceleration for the most common robotics functions including stereo processing, key points extraction, neural network processing, and Open Source Computer Vision Library (OpenCV) functions.Ambarella will demonstrate the highest-end version of the platform during CES 2020: A single CV2 chip will perform stereo processing (up to 4Kp30 or multiple 1080p30 pairs), object detection, key points tracking, occupancy grid, and visual odometry. This high level of computer vision performance combined with Ambarella’s advanced image processing—with native multi-camera support (up to 6 direct camera inputs on CV2, and 3 on CV25)—enables robotics designs that are both simpler and more powerful than traditional robotics architectures.“With all eyes on the future of home and industrial robotics, we are thrilled to introduce and demonstrate this high performance robotics platform during CES to our manufacturing partners and customers,” said Jerome Gigot, senior director of marketing at Ambarella. “Combining the best of Ambarella’s advanced imaging capabilities with our high-performance CVflow architecture for computer vision, the new platform will help enable a new breed of smarter and more efficient consumer and industrial robots.”The platform supports both the Linux operating system as well as the ThreadX® RTOS for systems requiring functional safety, and it comes with a complete toolkit for image tuning, neural network porting, and computer vision algorithm development. A rich set of APIs makes it possible for application developers to efficiently run higher-level algorithms including optical flow, visual odometry, and obstacle detection.The new robotics platform and its related development kits are available today and can be paired with various mono and stereo configurations, as well as rolling shutter, global shutter, and IR sensor options.Ambarella will demonstrate the new platform to select customers and partners during CES 2020.

LineaRx and Takis/Evvivax Anti-Cancer Vaccine Candidates Demonstrate Tumor Reduction

Applied DNA Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: APDN) (“Applied DNA”), a leader in large-scale PCR-based DNA manufacturing, announced today that LineaRx, Inc. (“LineaRx”), its majority-owned subsidiary focused on next-generation biotherapeutics, and its collaborators Takis/Evvivax have completed pre-clinical animal studies of two vaccine candidates produced with linear DNA. Tests of both vaccines in mouse models demonstrated their ability to eliminate tumors in vivo, and to potentially prevent initial occurrence.
Evvivax S.R.L. designed a synthetic gene sequence to produce immunity in companion animals, directed against the protein telomerase (TERT), which is overexpressed in 85% of all mammalian cancers, whereas Takis S.R.L. designed a neoantigen-based cancer vaccine (TK), as a proof-of-concept of personalized immunology. For the studies, the TERT and TK based vaccines were produced in linear DNA form by LineaRx. Here is a summary of the recently completed studies performed in vivo: Previous results from Phase 1 of the collaboration’s Joint Development Agreement (JDA) confirmed immunogenicity in mice that were vaccinated with linear DNA against the human protein telomerase. The results reported herein are from the Phase 2 of the JDA using mice implanted with murine colon cancer.
In the prophylactic use of the telomerase vaccine, wherein vaccination is done before addition of tumor cell lines to the mice, transplanted tumors were cleared within 10 days.
In the therapeutic application using either TERT or TK linear DNA vaccine application, cancer cells were introduced and allowed to grow before administration of the vaccine. The successful reduction of total tumor mass was accomplished in conjunction with antibodies that targeted PD-1 and CTLA4. These antibodies, known as Checkpoint Inhibitors, are commonly used in oncology strategies that rely upon immunotherapy. In this setting the tumor cells were reduced significantly within 30 days. The strategy of the Takis TK neoantigen vaccine uses unique multiple-target antigenic epitopes that have been identified from the tumor of a human patient. The linear DNA can utilize the genes for several of the most effective universal antigens such as TERT, or neoantigens that are more personalized to the patient.

Turkcell and Netsia Demonstrate RAN Slicing in Istanbul

Turkcell (NYSE:TKC) (BIST:TCELL) has added a new partnership to the strategic alliances it has made with the world’s leading technology companies for the development of 5G technologies. Following the launch of several strategic alliances with leading Turkish and international technology companies and universities aimed at furthering the development of 5G technologies, the successful integration of Netsia’s Virtual LTE RAN Platform into Turkcell’s Network Labs located in Istanbul has been completed.RAN slicing constitutes the cornerstone of any end-to-end slicing initiative, as radio resources are ultimately the basic building blocks to be shared (or sliced) among users. Netsia and Turkcell have worked towards integrating Netsia’s platform into Turkcell’s Labs, reproducing a Private LTE network with the ability to be sub-divided into multiple slices which, at RAN level, can offer different performances, latencies, and radio resources to different sets of customers. The result of such integration demonstrates that SDN/NFV techniques can be successfully applied to the RAN, hence completing the last piece of the puzzle towards an effective end-to-end network slicing.Netsia, a technology startup based in Sunnyvale (California) and a subsidiary of Argela, is actively working on programmable Software-Defined RAN Virtualization for 5G and has developed ProgRAN, a programmable Software Defined Network (SDN)-based Radio Access Network framework. ProgRAN virtualizes the wireless channel resources, as well as the radio resource management modules, in base stations, allowing a remote controller to “slice the network” into multiple virtual sub-networks. The virtual Private LTE platform reproduces a hospital scenario where wireless resources are shared among doctors, patients, visitors, and medical equipment. The resource partitioning is safely controlled by the hospital administration in a programmable way to provide wireless access services based on the type of the users and the emergency level at the hospital.

New Published Papers Demonstrate Reliability of RightEye Tests

Religious freedom for everyone

On Human Rights Day 2009, the Church and Society Commission of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) calls for everyone to join together to defend religious freedom and other fundamental human rights for everyone.The Swiss vote to ban the building of new minarets and recent decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, including the vote against the presence of crucifixes in Italian classrooms, demonstrate how important this is.Human Rights Day marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on 10 December 1948. “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance” states article 18 of the UDHR.  Yet 61 years after the UDHR’s adoption the struggle for religious freedom remains a daily concern for many individuals, CEC member churches, and other religious communities throughout Europe. The Conference of European Churches invites all people to commit themselves to human rights for all. CEC particularly calls on Christians to commit themselves to this struggle, remembering the words of St. Paul: “…’Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Love does no wrong to a neighbour; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:8-10).
