Celmatix Offers Fresh Insight into Women’s ‘Biological Clock’ with New Discoveries

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 13 ottobre 2018

Today, Celmatix, the next-generation women’s health company, announced the initial findings of two landmark research studies that shed new light on biomarkers that are related to a woman’s fertility and her ovarian reserve. These studies are among the largest ever aimed at understanding ovarian reserve and its role in regulating the so-called “biological clock.” Celmatix presented the findings during two scientific sessions at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) annual meeting this week in Denver, Colorado.Over time, a woman’s ovarian reserve gradually depletes, and continues to do so until menopause. It is generally accepted that a woman’s fertility starts to decline more rapidly in her mid-30s, but in reality, each woman’s experience is different. As more and more women across the world wait until later in life to have children, it is becoming increasingly critical for women to gain a deeper understanding of their ovarian reserve and how it may impact their fertility. The new studies presented this week by Celmatix are exemplary of this desperately needed research. The first study, Premature Menopause Genome-wide Association Study in 75,000 Women of European Ancestry, conducted in collaboration with personal genetics company 23andMe Inc, is the largest to date to examine the genomic factors associated with premature menopause, a condition that affects approximately one in 100 women. This case-control genome-wide association study (GWAS) utilizing data from 75,000 23andMe customers consented for research, confirmed an association between genes involved in cellular quality control and a DNA damage checkpoint with early menopause in women of European ancestry and suggested that many loci associated with age of menopause are also associated with premature menopause. The second study, also the largest of its kind, Decreased Ovarian Reserve Biomarkers are Associated with Reduced Fecundability in Women with No History of Infertility, established an association between biomarkers including anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), basal antral follicle count (BAFC), and day three follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and reduced fecundability in women seeking intrauterine insemination with donor sperm (DIUI) as a proxy to the general population. In the wake of recent studies questioning the utility of AMH testing as an indication of future fertility in women without a history of infertility, these initial findings shed new light on the complexity of the issue.

The Marrakech Art Fair

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 25 dicembre 2009

From October 9 to 11, 2010 at the Es Saadi Palace (Opening day October 8) Some forty European and Moroccan galleries will be meeting with collectors and art aficionados for three days to present their discoveries. On the agenda: modern art, contemporary art, and design, a moment’s stroll staged between the patio and garden through creations and works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries.  The launch of the Marrakech Art Fair will be accompanied by a program of cultural and artistic events: exhibitions at cultural centers, visits to artists’ workshops, discoveries of private collections, etc. An educational program on art market trends will round off these events.  To give ample attention to art de vivre, the Marrakech Art Fair is also preparing a “Tournament of the Galleries,” an art-milieu golf tournament in which the winner will receive a trophy made by a Moroccan artist.  The Marrakech Art Fair will become the main annual art market event in the Kingdom of Morocco, thus reaching beyond its borders and appearing on the international calendar of contemporary art fairs. This event was born out of collaboration between Moroccan and French players on the art market, who joined forces in order to provide Morocco with an exchange platform for gallery owners, artists, and collectors. Caroline Clough Lacoste, Henri Jobbé Duval, Brahim Alaoui, and Hicham Daoudi partnered to make this unprecedented artistic event a reality. They have the support of an honorary committee consisting of players from the local and international cultural scene. Application packets will be available starting on February 1, 2010.

Pompei and the Roman Villa

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 4 Mag 2009

pompeiLos Angeles County Museum of Art – LACMA 5905 Wilshire Boulevard until 4/10. Pompei and the Roman Villa focuses on the breadth and richness of cultural and artistic life in this region. The exhibition, organized by the National Gallery, Washington, D.C., includes works of art from the imperial villa at Oplontis and from aristocratic villas such as the Villa San Marco at Stabiae and the Villa dei Papiri at Herculaneum, as well as works from the opulent houses of the urban elite in Pompeii, whose very name conjures up ancient Rome and other towns along the bay of Naples. The objects proposed for this exhibition are a carefully selected group of approximately one hundred-twenty works of sculpture, painting, mosaic, and luxury arts, some of them long-familiar works, others generally unknown to the public. Recent discoveries from around the Bay of Naples that have never before been exhibited in the United States will complement more familiar finds from earlier excavations. In particular, the exhibition focuses on the influence of Classical Greek culture around the Bay of Naples, where wealthy Romans displayed impressive art collections in sumptuous homes.
