Detained in Dubai: Ruler of Dubai exonerates Jamie Harron

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 23 ottobre 2017

dubaiDubai. By special order of the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Jamie Harron has been freed. The cases against him have been dismissed, and the sentence imposed by the court yesterday has been nullified.“We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for his personal intervention in this case, and for exonerating Jamie at long last. It has now been established that the allegations against Jamie were entirely unwarranted, defamatory, and meritless; to such an extent that the Ruler of the country found it necessary to step in and correct the wrongful action of the Public Prosecutor and to quash the judgment of the court. This was a courageous and honourable decision on the part of Sheikh Mohammed, and while it highlights the urgent need for judicial reform in the country, it is also a hopeful sign that the UAE’s leadership possesses the will and vision to pursue such reforms in the future,” Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, said today.“When Jamie was called this morning by the police he was told that the case had been dismissed, and that he should come in to collect his passport”, Stirling explained. “He was understandably nervous; as similar calls from the police in other cases were merely tactics to lure individuals into police custody. But when Jamie arrived at the police station, his passport was returned, and he was told that he was free to go. The charges were dropped, the sentence annulled, and he faces no order for deportation. This came by direct order from Sheikh Mohammed.” Stirling noted that ideally such intervention would not be necessary, but was grateful that the Dubai Ruler took the initiative. “Of course, a fully functional legal system would not require outside intervention, and a case like Jamie’s would never proceed in the first place. But we are enormously grateful to Sheikh Mohammed for stepping in and vindicating Jamie after months of hardship. ”It is expected that Jamie will initiate civil proceedings against his accusers, Emad Tabaza and the company he works for; Neuman & Esser; as the allegations against him have been definitively proven false and slanderous, and have caused him tremendous suffering and financial loss. Dubai Health Authority Implements Masimo Patient SafetyNet™

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 18 agosto 2017

dubai-franchise-expo-uaeDubai. Masimo Patient SafetyNet enables information from bedside monitors, such as Masimo Root® with the Radical-7® or wearable Radius-7® Pulse CO-Oximeter®, to be accessible from a central viewing station. When changes occur in measured values, which may indicate deterioration in a patient’s condition, Patient SafetyNet automatically sends wireless alerts directly to clinicians, wherever they may be. In addition, Patient SafetyNet can automate the transfer of patient data, including admission data, vital signs, early warning scores (EWS), and other physiological parameters, directly to hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems, helping to improve clinician workflows and reduce the possibility of transcription errors.Dr. Andreas Taenzer and colleagues found in an 11-month study conducted at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center that using Patient SafetyNet and Masimo SET® pulse oximetry as part of a comprehensive alarm management strategy reduced rescue events by 65% and intensive care unit transfers by 48%, and as a result, reduced costs by $1,480,000.1,2 In a subsequent article, they announced that after five years, Dartmouth-Hitchcock had had zero preventable deaths or instances of brain damage due to opioids since the installation of Patient SafetyNet.2 In 2016, after ten years, they reported achieving a 50% reduction in unplanned ICU transfers and a 60% reduction in rescue events, despite increases in patient acuity and occupancy. The two Dubai Health Authority medical centers implementing Patient SafetyNet are Dubai Hospital (625 beds), which provides general medical and surgical care, and Latifa Hospital (367 beds), which specializes in maternal and child care. Dubai Hospital installed its first Patient SafetyNet in 2013. Latifa Hospital is in the process of installing four systems, with a further system planned for Dubai Hospital. “We are excited to deepen our partnership with Masimo,” said Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of Dubai Health Authority. “The Dubai Health Authority’s mission is to develop an integrated and sustainable healthcare system that ensures our comprehensive services achieve the highest international standards, and we believe that Masimo’s monitoring devices, now even more connected to hospital infrastructure through the power of Patient SafetyNet, will help us meet that goal.” “Patient SafetyNet, in conjunction with Masimo SET® pulse oximetry, enables continuous supplemental monitoring of active patients in post-surgical wards and can help save the lives of patients on opioids, among many other benefits,” said Joe Kiani, Founder and CEO of Masimo. “We applaud the Dubai Health Authority, dedicated to providing no less than the best health care in the world, for recognizing the importance of implementing such a proven and powerful centralized monitoring and patient surveillance system.”

CRY to Ensure Children’s Potential is Unlocked Through Education

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 17 agosto 2017

dubaiDUBAI, UAE/PRNewswire/When Pampa Singh won a silver medal at the National Kung Fu Championship in Guwahati, India, this year, she stood as an inspiration to many. After losing both her parents by the time she was 7 years old, she thought it was the end of the road for her. Also, living in Sonagchi, Asia’s largest red light district was full of challenges. She, however, continued to study as the CRY-supported project ‘Sanlaap’ stood by her, counseled her brother and helped her finish schooling in times of adversity. Not only did she undertake training in Hotel Management but also discovered her potential in sports when she got introduced to Kung Fu and then there was no looking back.Only 32 out of every 100 children in India finish school age-appropriately and a staggering number of 99 million children have dropped out of school as per Census 2011. Reasons include poverty, lack of school infrastructure, societal pressure, child labour and child marriage. This lack of access to education is the reason children from weaker socio-economic backgrounds do not get the opportunity to explore and reach their full potential.
CRY mobilizes communities; works with local authorities to ensure schools are compliant with the Right to Education Act, work towards access to secondary schools and develop readiness for the same, and also lobby for schools where they are not available.CRY’s campaign will ensure that children across its intervention areas remain in school, and realize their full potential by finishing their education.

Costituzione del Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 26 ottobre 2016

(fonte: PR Newswire for Journalists)

Dubai.

(foto: giada curti)

The first edition of HITEC Dubai will be hosted by HFTP and Naseba in 2017

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 28 settembre 2016

hitec-dubaiDubai, UAE – Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, or HFTP, is a global hospitality association responsible for organizing the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition & Conference (HITEC), the world’s leading hospitality technology event. In partnership with Naseba, a business facilitation company based in Dubai, HFTP will now be bringing HITEC to the Middle East for the very first time. The most recent edition of HITEC in New Orleans, Louisiana USA, gathered 6,395 hospitality professionals representing 65 countries. The conference hosted over 106 speakers in daily education sessions, and 867 exhibition booths showcasing the latest products and services of 342 exhibiting companies. HITEC has become a must-attend event for every major stakeholder and decision maker in the global hospitality industry. Now, with the introduction of HITEC Dubai, the platform will become accessible to buyers from the lucrative Middle Eastern tourism and hospitality market, currently worth over 75 billion USD. With occupancy rates and REVPar in the Middle East climbing to some of the highest levels seen worldwide since the 2008 global financial crisis, hotels in the region are fighting to distinguish themselves from competitors. Many are choosing to do so by offering a superior guest experience shaped by the latest technology and digital services. However, the region provides very few platforms for Middle Eastern hospitality buyers to meet world-class vendors of technology and finance solutions. Naseba’s Hotel Technology Summit, organised in partnership with HFTP for the past three years, is one such platform. And now HITEC Dubai will provide an enhanced way for Middle Eastern hoteliers to do business with technology companies from around the world. In addition to the exhibition format seen at HITEC in the U.S., HITEC Dubai will feature a summit with one-to-one business meetings that have become the hallmark of Naseba’s platforms. Hoteliers attending the summit portion of HITEC Dubai will be pre-qualified to confirm their purchasing authority, budgets, timelines and solutions of interest. For participating technology and finance companies, HITEC Dubai will therefore combine the best of two worlds: thought leadership and reaching the right buyers.
The education sessions that have proven so popular at past editions of HITEC will also be a staple of HITEC Dubai, with experts from around the globe sharing key insights into the tech trends and transformations shaping today’s global hospitality market.
“Over the past four and a half decades, HFTP has built an extensive network of global industry leaders that come together each year for HITEC, an unparalleled hospitality technology event,” said HFTP CEO Frank Wolfe, CAE. “In effort to accommodate HFTP’s expanding global audiences, HFTP and Naseba will bring HITEC to the Middle East for the first time. HFTP is pleased to continue its successful alliance with Naseba, and we are confident that combining experience and resources from two global associations will result in a highly effective event that will be of value to industry professionals located in the Middle East as well as the hospitality technology industry at large.” Nicholas Watson, Managing Director at Naseba, said “We are proud to be partnering with HFTP to host the newest edition of HITEC, allowing leading technology and finance companies to access the world’s fastest-growing hospitality market. We look forward to seeing contributions from not only CEOs of innovative companies and owners of established hotel brands, but also the directors, managers and executives who ensure the continued success of those organisations. Our partnership with HFTP has helped us to better serve the needs of the regional hospitality market. Bringing HITEC to the region for the first time will completely change the landscape of doing business in this market, and create exciting new opportunities for global vendors and Middle Eastern hotels.” Registration for this unique platform will be available to all qualified hospitality professionals and technology vendors.
