Forbes Names Commerce Bank One of the Best Midsize Employers in America for the Third Consecutive Year

Forbes recently published their 2019 America’s Best Midsize Employers List, ranking Commerce Bank in the top one-third among a selection of 500 employers across the country. This marks the third consecutive year Commerce has been named to the list. The list was developed based on comprehensive survey findings compiled by research firm Statista.
Commerce took the 13th highest ranking among the other banking and financial services companies on the list and ranked seventh among employers headquartered in Missouri. In speaking to this recognition, John Kemper, president and chief executive officer, said, “The key to Commerce’s long-term success is the culture our team creates every day. Being honored with this award for a third consecutive year is a testament to the strong culture we have at Commerce. Our team of associates come to work every day to help our customers focus on what matters most to them. America’s Best Employers are chosen based on an independent survey of more than 50,000 U.S. employees working for companies with at least 1,000 people in their U.S. operations. Employees are surveyed anonymously through several online panels, not through their employers. By doing so, employees can openly state their opinion. The evaluation was based on responses to two criteria – would employees recommend their own employers to friends and family and how do employees perceive other employers in their industry. The respondents also gave their opinions on a series of 35 statements surrounding work-related topics on working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image regarding their current employer. In the industry for more than 150 years, Commerce offers a super-community banking experience that pairs large bank products and services with local market knowledge and a high-touch customer experience. Art Educators Innovate Creative Learning to Develop Metacognitive Skill Set Required by Educators and Employers

Creativity, curiosity and critical thinking skills go hand in hand with knowledge, yet art programs which nurture these competencies are continuously being cut from school curriculums across the United States. Agnes Gund’s organization, Studio in a School, has found new ways to provide and enhance art education for young learners. “If we want our children to grow up learning how to learn and how to think, we should be working in the other direction: make the classroom look more like the art studio,” says Christopher Wisniewski, Executive Director of the program. In a new interview with C.M. Rubin, Founder of CMRubinWorld, Wisniewski says Studio’s success is all about “quality”. The organization hires “extraordinary artists” who work to become “great teachers.” In addition, the success of the Studio in a School program is dependent on an open line of communication between the artist instructors and the schools’ principals, classroom teachers, and families. While every student should have access to the arts in their respective schools, Wisniewski believes that the general focus should be on bettering middle school education, where encouraging the use of projects and creativity will enhance their learning capabilities and thinking capacity overall.Chris Wisniewski is the Executive Director of Studio in a School, an organization founded by Agnes Gund to get around the budget cuts geared towards arts programs in New York City schools by providing training in house for artists to become teachers and lend their combined skill set to these schools. PPG Named to Forbes’ 2019 “Best Employers for Diversity” List

Cintas Recognized as an Aon Best Employer in Canada for the 11th Time

Federation of British Industries 241 350For over a hundred years it has been common practice for employers to group together into employer associations. In the USA, for instance, the American Society of Employers has been operating since 1902 and in the UK the Federation of British Industries (now the CBI) was formed in 1916. Most employer associations are veiled in mystery and do not openly reveal their costs of membership. Often subscriptions are based on a company’s size and calculated as a percentage of payroll – which means that large companies may be paying in excess of $25,000 a year to retain their affiliation. The Federation of International Employers (FedEE Global) has always operated – like the World Economic Forum – on a highly exclusive basis and limited its membership to the largest multinational companies in the world. However, now its approach has changed to be highly transparent, offering particularly fast growing companies the best possible value for money. That is why its basic grade of “Enterprise Membership” is now completely free. Announcing this change at a breakfast meeting of FedEE members today, the Secretary-General of The Federation, Robin Chater” said that “Employers operating internationally face huge risks and currently there is a significant gap between a company’s in-house resources and outside professional firms such as lawyers and accountants.” “Human resource executives have to make many decisions every day about how to treat employees in widely differing situations and cannot be expected to call their lawyer every time they wish to check out how they should act. This is where FedEE Global is an invaluable resource, with its massive database of employment legislation and pay levels around the world and its vast body of related data. We believe information about significant HR developments should, at the very least, be open to the widest possible audience of multinational employers.”At the end of 2014 FedEE Global launched its business travel online community (but-n.com) for executives on the move. FedEE Global is now about to launch a programme of video-conferenced events aimed at companies that need to keep up-to-date with issues and trends not addressed by conventional conference organisations. The first of these will address the risks of abduction faced by senior multinational executives as they travel around the world.
