JAGO. The exhibition

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 29 dicembre 2021

Sacred Noise Exhibition

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 28 giugno 2018

London As part of the June Season at Christie’s, Sacred Noise, a major exhibition that explores religion, faith and divinity through artists including Francis Bacon, Maurizio Cattelan, Lucio Fontana, Damien Hirst, Pablo Picasso, Gerhard Richter, Sir Stanley Spencer, and Francisco de Zurbarán, is now on view in the King Street Galleries until 21 July 2018. These themes have pervaded art throughout the centuries, and across the world. The means of expression are many and varied, and – in today’s multi-cultural society – are more relevant than ever. Referencing key figures in Western art history, with Francisco de Zurbarán’s dramatically-lit paintings as a springboard, Sacred Noise charts the reinvigoration and subversion of these themes in the twentieth century. From Francis Bacon’s anthropomorphic Popes writhing in existential anguish, to Damien Hirst’s formaldehyde disciples and Lucio Fontana’s image of birth and regeneration in his celestial Concetto spaziale, La fine di Dio, the exhibition will explore how the European legacy of religious painting was reborn and redefined in the urban landscape of post-war and contemporary art.

shanghaiShanghai In a formal ceremony that witnessed the performance of a creation of a unique work by artist Qin Feng, Christie’s officially opened their new exhibition space and office in Shanghai at the historic Ampire Building, near the Bund.“When James Christie first opened the doors in London in 1766, nearly 250 years ago, his intention was to bring people art lovers together with the art they loved. Today in Shanghai we open this wonderful building that speaks of the history of the city, the tradition of Christie’s and yet also feels very contemporary and looks to the future. This building gives us the opportunity not only to bring art from around the world to Shanghai, but to bring the art of China to the rest of the world,” Steven Murphy, Chief Executive Officer, Christie’s commented in his opening remarks. “China now plays a hugely important role in the global art market. Nearly one third of all buyers are from Asia and in the last year, 20% of all new clients to Christie’s globally came from Greater China. We continue to lead the art world in our dedication to be an advocate for Asian art and culture on the global stage. During the last year, we have staged over 73 public exhibitions of Asian and Chinese art across the world. Philippe Parreno Retrospective

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 3 giugno 2009

philippeParis until 7/9/2009 Centre Pompidou Place Georges Pompidou curated by Christine Macel Curator in Muse’e national d’art moderne Head of the Contemporary Art and Prospective Creation Department assisted by Me’lanie Mermod in charge of research, Anna Hiddleston assistant curator Offered a retrospective by the Centre Pompidou, Philippe Parreno has come up with a -journey through time,- a re-reading of the artist’s work by the artist himself that is articulated through three elements: the exhibition proper, the accompanying series of special events for young people, and the substantial catalogue. The first large-scale presentation of the artist’s work in France since 2002, this is also a component of a wider project, being one of a number of concurrent exhibitions that Parreno is staging at leading international venues: the Kunsthalle, Zurich, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, and Bard College, NY. The exhibition will occupy the Galerie Sud, a 1,200 m2 glass-walled space that is both full of light and integrally related to the city outside. Exploiting these features, Parreno avoids the use of internal partitions, the exhibition design being inspired by the notion of contextuality. Exhibited works and other events are organised around the projection on a vast screen of a 70mm film. Visitors are welcomed by a large light sculpture specially made for the occasion that hangs above the entrance to the exhibition. Inspired by the marquee of the old American movie house, it advertises a film programme. And like the other elements of the exhibition, it is linked to a synchroniser that orchestrates the succession of events. On entering the exhibition space, one finds a new, red, version of Parreno’s Speech Bubbles (White) Finally, the exhibition will also host a number of regular events. A Christmas tree in cast aluminium, entitled Fraught Time, serves as the inspiration for performances by teenagers, with music specially written by London group The Monroe Transfer. Every morning between 11 and mid-day during the first month of the exhibition, Parreno’s No More Reality (suite et fin) of 1993 offers children an opportunity to make shadow theatre using marionettes based on posters of masterpieces of modern art, from Renoir to Matisse. And puppets based on New York illustrator Johan Olander’s monsters for Parreno’s Parade? – a children’s book published to go with the exhibition – will be used for a once-weekly event for primary school children. Two exhibitions Dalek + Mike Giant

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 25 aprile 2009

dalekParis 11 – France 78, rue Amelot Galerie Magda Danysz Dalek and Mike Giant reunite in a show. The Magda Danysz gallery is pleased to welcome two major artists from who have developed a style of their own: Dalek and Mike Giant. Though they have very different styles they talk about the same culture, the same influences, the same world.  Dalek is one of the artists who is developing a style of his own. Dalek and other artists like him are taking the old influences they’ve inherited and taking them steps further. The work is young, raw, and energetic. One can notice that his paintings are brightly colored and sometimes with funny little creatures he calls monkeys that have also evolved in his work, yet behind the surface a whole mysterious world is to be discovered with strong messages. For years now Dalek has been showing his world around the world in art galleries and art center always renewing his message and his style.  Mike Giant on his side has added the whole tattoo culture to his graffiti background. He started writing in 1989. A habit he has kept from his graffiti years as now, Mike Giant uses words as the building blocks of language. He uses language to describe everything we experience. Then Mike Giant started tattooing in 1998 and opened up to a whole new world where he became a legend. In his pieces the tattoo culture takes a whole new meaning with references to Mike Giant’s own multicultural life. He refers to Buddhism, folk art, the 50s imagery, religions, philosophy, biking, etc.  On the occasion, the artists, the gallery and DRAGO are pleased to launch the books (Image: Dalek)
