Former sugar factory heated by Mark Infra Line radiant heaters

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 22 giugno 2016

zuccheroThe former sugar factory “Suikerfabriek” in Groningen (Netherlands) is becoming a well-known event location. The “Suikerfabriek” is an old production location of the Suikerunie, where sugar beets were processed into sugar. The building was built in 1913 and has been completely emptied, giving it a rough appearance. To make sure visitors of current and future events experience a pleasant temperature, Mark Climate Technology has installed six gas-fired radiant heaters with a total capacity of 420 kW. The installation of the radiant heaters existed of four Infra Line’s type 90/44 with a length of 40 meters each and two Infra’s type 30-9, each with a length of 9 meters. With these the main hall, restaurant, bar, vestibule and entrance are comfortably heated. In addition, five Mark MDV Blue roof fans are providing the main hall and restaurant of fresh air, which is supplied through the walls.Because of the height of the building and the large volume that needs to be heated, the energy-saving Infra’s are a very suitable solution for the former sugar factory. To give the visitors a comfortable feel, units that do not cause air movement and produce little noise were specifically preferred. The radiant heaters also needed to be suitable for propane gas, since there was no gas connection available in the building. The entire project has been carried out in three weeks.

WJC President Commends 100 US Universities for Rejecting Israel Boycott

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 3 gennaio 2014

NEW YORK – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder today commended the 100 US universities that have publicly denounced the American Studies Association (ASA) boycott of Israel.“It is heartening that the leaders of so many great American universities have stepped forward to condemn the ASA’s discriminatory and pernicious assault on Israel and academic freedom,” Lauder said. “This resounding response shows that American society is united in rejecting the Orwellian anti-Semitism that underlies such unfair efforts to single out the Jewish state for opprobrium.”Lauder also thanked the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations for its recent letter urging the university presidents to disassociate their schools from the ASA and to remove any funding designated for the association. Lauder is a former chairman of the Presidents Conference.Under Lauder’s leadership, the WJC last summer launched its Global Campus Initiative (GCI) in order to counter Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) campaigns and other attempts to delegitmize Israel in university environments around the world. The GCI, a joint project with the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) and the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS), held sessions in Jerusalem on December 30, at which 100 student activists heard speakers and shared knowledge about the best ways to counteract the campus campaigns to vilify the Jewish state. As of January 1, the presidents or chancellors of 100 American universities and colleges, including such prestigious campuses as Harvard, Columbia, Brown, MIT, University of Michigan, and Georgetown, have rejected the ASA boycott. Also opposing the boycott are the Association of American Universities, which represents 62 institutions in America and Canada, and the 48,000 member American Association of University Professors. The ASA, a 5,000-member association of academics who teach American studies, announced the passage of its anti-Israel boycott resolution on December 16.

Former Guantanamo Chief Prosecutor Responds to Obama’s Plan for Detention Center

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 28 Mag 2013

Washington, DC–In a speech held this afternoon at the National Defense University in Washington, President Obama announced concrete steps to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, including appointing a senior envoy in the State Department tasked with closing the facility, and lifting the ban on detainee transfers to Yemen. Col. Morris Davis, a former Chief Prosecutor at Guantanamo Bay who left his post in 2007 over the interrogation tactics used, provided the below response to the news. His popular Change.org petition calling on President Obama to close the facility has drawn more than 200,000 supporters in a number of weeks: “With the President’s announcement today, it seems years of rhetoric have finally turned into action. Since its beginning, Guantanamo has been costly, inefficient, morally wrong, and a stain on our human rights record. Most people know this is an issue I’ve been personally invested in for years, and I am thrilled to see Obama take a real stand to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center.” “I’d like to thank the countless groups and individuals who helped get us to this announcement. I’m especially thankful for the hundreds of thousands of people who signed the Change.org campaign in the last three weeks. When I launched it, I said we’d need help to do this. And boy, did people step up. “Americans know that real patriots don’t abandon their principles or surrender their liberties for temporary security. We’re ready for closure. No more excuses, no more stalling, just get it done as quickly as possible.”Col. Davis flew to Washington to attend the President’s speech this afternoon.Link to Col. London, (PRNewswire) National charity Abbeyfield has enlisted the support of former Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Twist and Pulse, an English street dance duo to help encourage young people from schools, colleges, universities and youth groups to join the Abbeyfield AGEnda Generational Skills Swap that is taking place in June. The launch of the charity’s AGEnda initiative, follows a national survey which showed that a high percentage of young and old hold negative opinions and views about one another. Ashley Tisdale (Twist), said: “We think it’s a great idea, young people can learn some cool things from older people and older people can learn some interesting stuff from young people so Abbeyfield AGEnda is a good thing.”Twist and Pulse who returned to Britain’s Got Talent this year with their own dance troupe ‘Twist and Pulse Dance Company’ said: “Every generation has something that they can share with the next one, a skill, a hobby or even an experience. This is a great chance to see what we can offer each other and hopefully help get rid of some of the negativity.”The AGEnda initiative which will take place during June (although more specifically during Abbeyfield Week June 9th -16th ) is to get younger people to arrange a Skills Swap event with a local Abbeyfield house or care home to help improve the relationship between the different generations. Everyone who participates in an Abbeyfield Skills Swap, will be asked to record their activity by drawing, filming, photographing, writing or any combination of these mediums, explaining their experience. Their entry will then go to an Abbeyfield panel of judges who will select the best Skills Swap. The winning group will be visited by the popular dance act and enjoy a dance workshop and an up close and personal Twist and Pulse performance for their school or youth group in September. Glen Coco (Pulse) said: “We can’t wait to visit the winning Skills Swap group in September. We really want people to get involved. If you haven’t done so already get involved contact Abbeyfield with your idea for a Skills Swap and then tell Abbeyfield about it.Abbeyfield spokesperson Sam Alleyne said: “We want to encourage young people to engage more with the older generation and hope this will help. Communication between the two groups is really important in today’s society where old and young no longer live so closely together. We are really keen for young volunteers to get involved with our residents on an ongoing basis. Our Skills Swap is part of a national drive, so Abbeyfield houses all over the country are running swaps during Abbeyfield Week.”Twist and Pulse who also featured on this years Britain’s Got Talent, as their new super slick, child dance troupe, sped through the qualifying stages all the way through to the live semi finals in May, are very excited and enthusiastic about the Abbeyfield Week AGEnda Skills Swap initiative.
The survey showed that older and young people spend little time one-to-one – the average amount is just 12 days a year. This applies to 30% of 18-30 year olds and 41% of 10-17 year olds. The remainder said they don’t spend any one-to-one time with older people. When they do spend time together, they watch TV (10-17 year olds) or have a natter over a cup of tea or lunch (18-30).

1989-2009: Turbulent World

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 10 luglio 2009

erbossynBerlin until 13/9/2009 Akademie der Künste Hanseatenweg 10 Telling Time. Contemporary Photography and Video Works from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Germany. curated by Jule Reuter (Berlin) in cooperation with local curators in participating countries  The exhibition, -Turbulent World – Telling Time-, looks at the far-reaching processes of change symbolized by the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, through the eyes of artists from the former Soviet Union. It focuses on an artistic reflection on this -turbulent- period, and is to be viewed as an empirical approach to a complex theme. Developed by Jule Reuter together with local curators, the exhibition presents 16 photographic and video positions: diverse reflections on processes and experiences of change in seven former Soviet states (today counted as part of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus) and in Germany. Four important themes come to the fore: family, identity, urban change and politics.  The central theme of family is exemplified in the documentary photographic series of Irina Abzhandadze and Christian Borchert. Other artists (Erbossyn Meldibekov/ Nurbossyn Oris, Vladimir Kupriyanov, Igor Savchenko) use photographs from old family albums as a point of departure for their artistic work. Using the biographies of their parents’ generation, these artists raise questions about the time, place and style of photography, and prompt reflection about the role of this medium in both private and public contexts. The exhibition includes about 200 photographic works and five video works.  Participating artists: Irina Abzhandadze (Georgia), Viktor An (Uzbekistan), Talgat Asyrankulov (Kyrgyzstan), Tina Bara/Alba D’Urbano (Germany, Italy), Christian Borchert (Germany), Olga Chernysheva (Russia), Shailo Djekshenbaev (Kyrgyzstan), Alevtina Kakhidze (Ukraine), Vladimir Kupriyanov (Russia), Viktor Marushchenko (Ukraine), Erbossyn Meldibekov/ Nurbossyn Oris (Kazakhstan), Koka Ramishvili (Georgia), Igor Savchenko (Belarus), Oksana Shatalova (Kazakhstan)  Catalogue: A tri-lingual catalogue (German, Russian and English) contains brief texts by the curators on works from their countries, as well as introductory essays by historian and Slavist Barbara Christophe and head curator Jule Reuter.
