Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 26 aprile 2015

Hunt divingIt was a season-start in style for four-time World Series champion Gary Hunt, who dominated the first competition of the 2015 season in Colombia’s Cartagena, making it his 20th victory in seven years of the World Series. The Brit’s haul of 526.20 points is his second-highest score to date, and just 0.20 points short of his personal best. 30,000 vocal spectators cheered their local hero Orlando Duque (477.60pts) to a podium finish from the 27m-platform on the Centro de Convenciones and secured the Colombian the best start to a season for three years. Second-placed David Colturi, from the USA, gave another very strong performance plunging into the year with a new personal best (493.80pts). After this superb opener in the Caribbean, the cliff diving elite heads to the chilly waters of La Rochelle, France, for the second stop on Sunday, May 17.
Gravity-defying freefall punctuated by awe-inducing tricks – that is cliff diving. The sport’s best athletes leap aesthetically from almost three times the Olympic height with no protection at all, except their concentration, skill and Huntphysical control. In less than three seconds, gravity propels the divers’ bodies as they fall the equivalent of eight stories, reaching speeds in excess of 85kph.
Since 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has provided a platform for breathtaking action and dives of incredible complexity, spotlighting the sport’s top athletes as well as young talent and in 2014 it introduced a Women’s World Series. In its seventh season, this rapidly-evolving sport will crown new champions during eight demanding competitions for the men and three stops for the women. Between April and September, this pure extreme sport will touch waters in natural and urban surroundings as well as remote and iconic venues across South America, the US and Europe and top it all with the season finale and the 50th World Series competition.

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 17 ottobre 2014

divingThe stages for the final showdown of the 2014 World Series have been set at 20m and 27m at the ‘Blue Cenote’ Ik Kil, a natural phenomenon which looks like an imaginary place with root-covered walls, crystal-clear waters, lush green vegetation and wildlife. The first-ever female World Series champion will be confirmed, as well as the ‘brilliant Brit’ Gary Hunt who will be crowned overall winner after securing the title at the penultimate stop. Competition among the men remains high, particularly for one of the coveted top-five places and a guaranteed spot for next season. After a long season of sensational diving, vital ranking points are still up for grabs and the final showdown on the Yucatán Peninsula will provide cliff diving at its most majestic.“It’s been a wicked year and it’ll be a pleasure to dive in Mexico knowing the title is already secured,” says Gary Hunt (910pts), with a hat-trick of wins to his name already in 2014. Besides the top spot, nothing has yet been determined. Defending champion Artem Silchenko (680pts), from Russia, moved up in the overall rankings from 5th to the position of runner-up by winning the competition in Bilbao, ahead of America’s Steven LoBue (660pts) who is in third place. The season of 85kph dives comes down to the wire and with only the top five of the overall standings qualifying automatically for next year, the fight is tight. England’s Blake Aldridge holds fifth, but Jonathan Paredes is nipping at his heels and is only 10 points behind (540pts), in sixth, before stop number 7 on home soil.In the Women’s World Series, it’s Texan Rachelle Simpson coming to Mexico as the leader of the standings. After two straight wins from 20m, she is 80 points ahead of six-time European cliff diving champion Anna Bader, from Germany. The third spot in the women’s standings is currently shared by Americans Ginger Leigh Huber and Tara Hyer-Tira, as well as Mexican Adriana Jimenez (200pts). As the top-four divers from the first Women’s World Series are automatically qualified for the 2015 series, Cesilie Carlton (180pts), the FINA high diving world champion, is still in the running for automatic qualification. The high diving elite returns to this awe-inspiring cenote close to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula, where the trophy for the best of the best will be awarded to both the male and female champions. On October 17, at 10am local time, the ladies will compete from 20m, a day later the men’s competition from 27m starts at 11.30am. Who will confirm their place in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2015?
It’s pure, it’s fast and it takes your breath away. Cliff divers leap aesthetically from almost three times the Olympic height and hit the water at speeds of 85kph, protected only by their concentration, skill and physical control. Since 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has featured the biggest talents, the most promising newcomers, and since 2013 has also provided a platform for women. Seven tough competitions for the men, three challenges for the women – in its sixth season this jaw-dropping sport will hit new as well as proven ground in the Caribbean, North and Latin America and Europe between May and October to determine a new champion for both men and women. Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 15 settembre 2013

Steven LoBue - ActionBy a margin of just 1.65 points, the 29-year-old overall leader of the current season was declared the winner of the sixth round of the World Series in a competition that was not decided until the very last dive. After a third place at the ‚Blue Lagoon’ in 2012, Gary Hunt wanted a home win more than anything else and he accomplished the feat on Saturday afternoon in front of an enthusiastic Welsh crowd. Second place went to Russia’s Artem Silchenko and Orlando Duque, from Colombia, completed the podium. More than 5,500 spectators over the weekend watched as three UK divers made the final round of the top-eight athletes for the first time this season and bright sunshine made up for a week of wet and physically-demanding weather conditions. The city that never sleeps was about to wake up when Orlando Duque from Colombia leapt into New York Harbor in Manhattan, New York City, Monday morning. With the world’s most famous icon of freedom in the back, the 38-year-old professional cliff diver dove 23m backwards from a helicopter. The Statue of Liberty has always been a welcoming signal to people arriving from abroad and with today’s high dive welcomes the best cliff divers in the world in the United States. After four stops in Europe, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series leaps over the Atlantic into the second half of the season and touches down in one of America’s oldest cities – Boston, Massachusetts, on August 25.
“It’s really exciting to get such a warm welcome back to the US,” said Orlando Duque after his dive into the Hudson. “It doesn’t get any better than diving in front of something as iconic as the Statue of Liberty. It’s beyond what I ever could have imagined.”From this once-in-a-lifetime experience, the ten-time world champion travels north to Boston for the fifth stop of the 2013 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series this coming weekend. Going into the second half of the season, the fight for the prestigious title is still wide open. Current tournament leader Gary Hunt, from England, Russia’s Artem Silchenko, who already has two victories to his name in 2013, and the latest winner, 24-year-old US-diver David Colturi, will take on the next challenge, along with the Colombian, who sits in third after the first half of the Series. The international high diving elite will for the third time climb to the top of the 90-foot-high Institute of Contemporary Art building on Fan Pier and try to propel their performances towards perfection in the latest ‘exhibit’ at a place of inspiration and imagination. Count on the divers – among them five Americans – to deliver unforgettable impressions on Sunday, August 25, from 2pm local time.
85kph, aesthetic gravity-defying freefall – cliff diving is the purest extreme sport on earth. Ten of the world’s best cliff divers launch from 27 metres with no protection at all, except their concentration, skill and physical control. They add flips and twists to their freefall and hit the water three seconds later. As the pinnacle of cliff diving competitions, the 2013 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is once again the platform for breathtaking action and beyond-belief complexity, spotlighting the sport’s top athletes as well as young talent. In its fifth season, the World Series title is decided during eight competitions across Europe, Asia, North and South America between May and October.
