Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 24 settembre 2020

AHF Urges G20 to Prioritize Public Health; Fully Fund the Global Fund

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 21 aprile 2019

With the 2019 G20 summit coming up June 28-29, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is joining other civil society organizations (CSOs) at the Civil 20 (C20) Summit in Japan to support C20 efforts and to call on the G20 to honor its earlier commitment to fully fund the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (The Global Fund)—the world’s most effective mechanism for fighting our deadliest infectious diseases. No other global body has more power to positively affect development worldwide than the G20— since G20 countries account for almost 90% of global GDP, 80% of international trade, and nearly two-thirds of the world’s population.
In addition to building support for increased HIV/AIDS funding and resources, AHF will be supporting C20 efforts in Tokyo to raise awareness on key health initiatives, including the fight against tuberculosis and antimicrobial drug resistance, universal health coverage, quality standards of healthcare, and investment in medical research and development.
Even though the G20 was established to address economic issues, there is nothing more important to prosperous nations than the health of their citizens. The AIDS response and other key health concerns deserve the G20’s full attention—AHF urges world leaders to adopt and start to implement the proposals put forth by C20 summit advocates to ensure that people from all countries have the opportunity to be healthy and thrive.

Global Fund Named as Leader in Aid Transparency

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 14 aprile 2016

Geneva, SwitzerlandGENEVA – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was ranked among the top five organizations and nations that are major donors of global aid for its transparency and accountability, a report published on Wednesday showed. Released by the non-profit Publish What You Fund, the AID Transparency Index also showed that the Global Fund ranked first in three of the operational categories – performance, related documents, and basic information.Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund, said the results of the report underlined the organization’s unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability as it pursues its mandate to end AIDS, TB and malaria as epidemics.“Transparency is essential for any organization that invests public money for the public good,” said Dr. Dybul. “It is in the bedrock of our founding principles, and absolutely crucial to our effectiveness.” Health investments made through the Global Fund partnership have saved 17 million lives, expanding opportunity and achieving greater social justice for families and communities worldwide.“The Global Fund partnership has made exceptional progress towards the global goal of eliminating the three diseases as epidemics by 2030, but we are not there yet. We need every dollar to get the job done. And this is where efficiency and transparency play a vital role,” Dr. Dybul said.Dr. Dybul said transparency was both a commitment towards donors to make sure development aid is spent effectively, particularly at a time of fiscal constraint, and a moral obligation towards the people we serve.“Transparency and accountability mean life-saving commodities are procured and delivered on time and in a cost-effective way. It also means that our programs are reaching the people who need them the most – adolescent girls and women, people in poor communities with little access to health care, men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, and prisoners. It means we continue promoting and protecting human rights, promoting gender equality, and making sure health investments are helping countries build resilient and sustainable systems for health.”As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and people affected by the diseases, the Global Fund mobilizes and invests nearly US$4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries. The Global Fund’s operating costs are just 2.3 percent of grants under management, reflecting an exceptionally high degree of efficiency.

Announcement – KDP Select Global Fund Update & Program Changes

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 16 giugno 2015

kindleThe KDP Select global fund. The first is that we’re adding a bonus of $7.8 million to the May KDP Select global fund on top of the previously announced $3 million base fund, bringing the total fund to $10.8 million. We are also pleased to report that:
• KDP Select authors are on track to earn over $60M in the first half of 2015 from books read in Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
• Total royalties across subscription and a la carte sales earned by KDP Select authors in the US are on track to more than double in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period last year.
• Authors have continued to renew their titles in KDP Select at rates in excess of 95% each month since Kindle Unlimited launched.
These trends give us the confidence to look forward and share that the KDP Select global fund will be in excess of $11M for both July and August.
We’re always looking at ways to make our programs even better, and we’ve received lots of great feedback on how to improve the way we pay KDP authors for books in Kindle Unlimited. One particular piece of feedback we’ve heard consistently from authors is that paying the same for all books regardless of length may not provide a strong enough alignment between the interests of authors and readers. We agree. With this in mind, we’re pleased to announce that beginning on July 1, the KDP Select Global Fund will be paid out based on the number of pages KU and KOLL customers read. As with our current approach, we’ll continue to offer a global fund for each month. Under this new model, the amount an author earns will be determined by their share of total pages read rather than their share of total qualified borrows. Here are a few examples illustrating how the fund will be paid out. For simplicity, assume the fund is $10M and that 100,000,000 total pages were read in the month:
• The author of a 100 page book which was borrowed and read completely 100 times would earn $1,000 ($10 million multiplied by 10,000 pages for this author divided by 100,000,000 total pages).
• The author of a 200 page book which was borrowed and read completely 100 times would earn $2,000 ($10 million multiplied by 20,000 pages for this author divided by 100,000,000 total pages).
• The author of a 200 page book which was borrowed 100 times but only read half way through on average would earn $1,000 ($10 million multiplied by 10,000 pages for this author divided by 100,000,000 total pages).
We will similarly change the way we pay KDP Select All-Star bonuses which will be awarded to authors and titles based on total KU and KOLL pages read.
We think this is a solid step forward and better aligns the interests of readers and authors. Our goal, as always, is to build a service that rewards authors for their valuable work, attracts more readers and encourages them to read more and more often. We welcome your continued feedback and ideas about how we can further improve Kindle Direct Publishing and Kindle Unlimited.
