Invaluable Secures U.S. Patent Allowing It to Consolidate Online Bidding across the Auction House Industry

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 17 giugno 2018

Invaluable, the world’s leading online marketplace for fine art, antiques and collectibles, today announced it has secured a U.S. Utility Patent that paves the way for the company to consolidate and streamline online bidding technology across the auction industry.
Invaluable CEO Rob Weisberg said the patent recognizes the unique live auction bidding console technology developed and managed by Invaluable and offers intellectual property protections from any U.S. companies. Invaluable has applied for the same protections internationally; that application is pending.“I consider it a game-changer for our company and for auction houses everywhere, setting Invaluable apart as the go-to platform to consolidate the auction industry,” said Weisberg.
The Invaluable technology aggregates all online live auction marketplaces and funnels bids to a single auction house clerk utilizing one clerking console powered by Invaluable. This integration spares auction houses from having to use multiple clerks to take bids from several online live marketplaces and sort them in real time during a sale and manage them post-sale. It gives auction houses the ability to efficiently scale up their online sales – vital for growth in the challenging and competitive auction industry, said Weisberg. The patent award from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office came after a four-and a half-year application process, said D.J. Charles, the company’s Chief Technology Officer. Sotheby’s and eBay have used Invaluable’s console technology to power their live auction sales for the last three years, said Charles.
Additionally, Invaluable has filed a secondary “continuation-in-part” application to extend the patent on live auction bidding technology to further include timed auctions, said Charles.

Impact of Policies and Guidelines on the Cybersecurity Industry in Asia-Pacific

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 29 maggio 2018

The “Impact of Policies and Guidelines on the Cybersecurity Industry in Asia-Pacific, 2017” report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering. The report covers the study of policies/guidelines issued by the regulatory bodies or cybersecurity agencies of two countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The two countries covered in this issue are Singapore and China. The objective of this study is to identify the impact of these policies on the cybersecurity industry in the two countries, based on an observation of what deems to be a significant policy/guideline provided by government authorities. The report includes interpretation services and highlights of areas which may impact the country of study. Growth opportunities and a call to action are provided to highlight the areas of growth driven by the newly introduced policies or guidelines. In January 2018, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) released the Cybersecurity Bill. The main areas highlighted in the notification include the holistic approach it takes in applying the bill to all Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs), addressing the Commissioner’s powers in investigating cybersecurity incidents, the need for CIIs to carry out regular risk assessments and audit, the need for cybersecurity service providers to be licensed, and the various penalties that apply for any failure to comply. The Cybersecurity Bill in Singapore poses some challenges for CIIs as they may not have the expertise to ensure adherence to the Bill. As such, business opportunities arise for the cybersecurity industry, especially for the service providers and educational institutes as they provide services to CIIs to help them fill the gaps for ensuring compliance with the Bill.In June 2017, a fundamental law in cybersecurity came into effect in China. The implementation of the Cybersecurity Law has strengthened China’s regulatory regime in protecting cyberspace sovereignty and tightening the control over national security issues. The new law requires network operators and critical information infrastructure (CII) operators to comply with the stated security obligations. The law not only lays emphasis on data security, but also stresses the protection of individual information.

ILG Recognized For Its Philanthropic Initiative With Coveted Industry Award

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 18 maggio 2018

ILG (Nasdaq: ILG), a leading provider of professionally delivered vacation experiences, received the prestigious ARDA Circle of Excellence (ACE) Community Service and Philanthropic Award for its ILG Relief Fund, a charitable organization dedicated to providing safe housing for associates affected by natural or civic disasters. The award represents the highest level of excellence within the resort industry and was presented at the recent American Resort Development Association World Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ILG Relief Fund was created as a result of last year’s two devasting hurricanes ― Irma and Maria ― that wreaked havoc in the Caribbean and Florida, where hundreds of associates either lost or experienced major damage to their homes. In addition to the company’s donation, associates from each of ILG’s operating businesses contributed to the fund.“These acts of generosity epitomize teamwork, one of ILG’s core values,” said ILG Chairman, President, and CEO Craig M. Nash. “Challenging times can put us to the test. But what we saw during and after the storms certainly shows that in the face of great adversity, our associates can be counted on to show dedication, commitment, compassion, and strength. We are deeply grateful to all of them.”To date, nearly 500 grants have been awarded to the ILG associates whose lives were irrevocably affected by the hurricanes. One of the unique features of the fund is its lack of overhead or administrative costs, because the review and disbursement process is handled by associates who voluntarily handle these tasks above and beyond their normal responsibilities.
“Our associates take care of our guests’ needs every day,” Nash added. “We want to make sure that we take care of them during their critical moment of need. This was the right time to establish a vehicle to help all of our associates facing a catastrophe outside of their control.”

British MP Benn Talks Brexit Challenges and the Future of UK Clinical Research Industry

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 22 aprile 2018

Facing unprecedented challenges associated with Brexit, on 13 April the UK’s major clinical research organizations (CROs) met with the Rt Hon Hilary Benn (Labour – Leeds Central) to tour Covance’s research facilities in Leeds and discuss the implications of the impending separation from the European Union. The Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO), facilitated the discussion between Benn and seven CROs with active operations in the UK, to examine the industry’s role in advancing new medicines, Brexit-related concerns and how the industry can retain its competitiveness. The clinical research industry reaches more than 35,000 patients in the UK through over 1,600 studies each year. ACRO member companies are also a major source of UK employment, providing over 13,000 highly skilled jobs, including about 300 jobs in Leeds. With pan-European health, data, privacy and employment implications, the UK CRO industry has unique concerns as it grapples with the UK’s pending withdrawal from the EU.“I learned a great deal about the important role played by CROs in clinical research and the development of new drugs,” said Benn, Chair of Exiting the European Union Committee. “We also discussed ACRO’s concerns about the implications of Brexit for ensuring a continuing strong relationship between the MHRA and the EMA and the need to maintain continuity and alignment with EU regulations such as the Clinical Trial Regulation and the General Data Protection Regulation.”
Direct discussions with MPs at research sites can illustrate the work of the industry, its employees and the positive impacts of CROs. “With their critical role in advancing innovative new medicines for Europe and the world, the UK’s clinical research organizations are an important voice,” said Karen Noonan, ACRO’s Vice President, Global Regulatory Policy. “As we look toward an even stronger future for clinical research across the UK, we want this site and the entire UK industry to be competitive. It is vitally important that we discuss the challenges, decisions and policies surrounding Brexit.”

A recovering industry and a valuable source of healthy food – European Commission calls on regions to embrace aquaculture

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 28 febbraio 2018

After more than a decade of stagnation, EU aquaculture is finally showing signs of recovery. With 4% growth in volume and 8% in value between 2014 and 2015, and profits exceeding 400 million euro, the sector is generating more value than ever before. The success is in part due to strong cooperation over the last years between the European Commission and national authorities to remove barriers to growth. As a result, many governments have been taking steps to cut red tape, which clearly has been paying off.At FARMEDintheEU Regions, a conference organized by the European Commission and the Committee of the Regions showcasing some of the success stories of European aquaculture, European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, today stressed the need for even greater buy-in from the EU regions.“Aquaculture can deliver local food and local jobs in an environment-friendly way. The planning, authorisation, and ultimately the success of aquaculture in the EU lie in the hands of our regions and Member States. We count on you to support investment in this promising industry”, Commissioner Vella said. With global population expected to reach 10 billion people by 2050, Commissioner Vella sees aquaculture as a key pillar of global and European food security. “We need to plan ahead now to provide more fish, shellfish and algae in a sustainable, responsible way”, Commissioner Vella said. “Of course we must continue our work on sustainable wild fisheries, but if we are to get more seafood, it has to come from farming. Having many small, well-planned farming actions at regional scale, and helping consumers to make informed, responsible choices is the key to success.”

Aptitude for careers in the construction industry

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 8 febbraio 2018

georgiaThe Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia are partnering with YouScience to uncover high school students throughout the state with an aptitude for careers in the construction industry. More than 11,000 public high school students from Georgia have already participated in the YouScience Program, and the results clearly demonstrate that these students have the talent to fill the workforce needs for Georgia’s burgeoning construction industry.AGC Georgia has placed an emphasis on workforce development for several years to keep pace with the State’s growing needs for construction, and member firms are looking to hire high school students for work-based opportunities this summer. The organization and many of its construction firm members have committed to hire at least one high school student as identified by their YouScience Profile as a good fit, based on aptitudes and interests, for a 2018 summer internship.
Early qualifying students must have completed their YouScience Profile by March 5, 2018 and demonstrate a high aptitude or interest for construction to be eligible to interview at the Georgia Career Expo and Hiring Fair (March 22-24, 2018), AND can become part of the CEFGA workforce pipeline through their ongoing student hiring database. Students will also be interviewed by participating construction firms near the student’s high school. In addition to summer internships, CEFGA will be identifying work-based learning opportunities for the 2018-2019 school year. The Georgia Department of Education and the Technical College System of Georgia partnered together to make YouScience available at no cost to every student attending public high school in the state of Georgia. A representative from the school, or its superintendent’s office, simply needs to reach out to YouScience and request free access to the program. http://www.youscience.com/contact/“YouScience has shown that Georgia has more than enough students with the talent for careers in the construction industry,” said Mike Dunham, CEO of AGC Georgia. “AGC Georgia wants to encourage those students by offering construction summer internships with a local construction firm. By engaging these students at a younger age, we are able to nurture and groom them for a solid career in our industry.”Unlike traditional self-reported, interest-based career tools, YouScience is the only system that employs decades of rigorous scientific research to measure students’ aptitudes through a series of engaging “brain games.” The YouScience patent-pending technology combines cutting-edge matching algorithms with the most reliable and comprehensive career data, providing each student with a highly-personalized online profile that highlights the intersection of their unique talents, passions and opportunities.

Revolutionizing the process/supply chain, Unlimited Tomorrow also taps into digital, scanning and 3D printing technologies to streamline development and reduce multiple fittings – minimizing the impact to each patient.Core to the announcement is the selection of Stratasys and Dassault Systèmes as the program’s dedicated 3D printing and CAD/CAE suppliers. Stratasys’ exclusive cooperation provides Unlimited Tomorrow with the development and production of the prosthetics through the company’s PolyJet expert team, as well as Stratasys Direct Manufacturing. Capitalizing on Stratasys’ 3D printing solutions for healthcare, Unlimited Tomorrow accesses best-in-class 3D printing know-how and materials to engineer sturdy, functional, and aesthetically-pleasing devices. Backed by unique levels of realism, Stratasys solutions are perfectly suited to match prosthetic to patient for maximum personalization.
With Dassault Systèmes’ SOLIDWORKS applications, Unlimited Tomorrow leverages the ultimate 3D design and engineering portfolio to facilitate an integrated design-to-creation process and bring innovations to market faster. The software permits a high degree of collaboration and idea-sharing for rapidly-made and more cost-effective devices for recipients.
In keeping with Unlimited Tomorrow’s promise to empower people, the organization has chosen Indiegogo’s platform for current equity fundraising efforts. GSMA Report: Mobile Industry to Play Critical Role in Bangladesh’s Digital Transformation

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 5 dicembre 2017

Onu palaceThe GSMA released a new report that highlights the mobile industry’s unique position to play a critical role in achieving both the Bangladeshi government’s Vision 2021 development roadmap and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Titled “Bangladesh: Driving mobile-enabled digital transformation”, the report notes that by working closely together, the government and industry have the capacity to unlock digital transformation for millions of Bangladeshis, as well as drive social and economic growth for the country. The report was produced in partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the UK Department for International Development (DFID), and supported by the United Nations Development Programme.“By encouraging the use of mobile technology across all aspects of society, especially driven by government agencies that may not have considered mobile a key tool they can use to achieve their development targets, Bangladesh can potentially leapfrog other developing markets in terms of growth and economic progress,” said Alasdair Grant, Head of Asia Pacific for the GSMA. “The government has already embraced the UN SDGs and incorporated the goals into the Vision 2021 plans, and it is clear that mobile can play a critical role in achieving those long-term goals.” Vision 2021 is the government’s roadmap for Bangladesh to become a middle-income country where poverty will be completely eradicated by 2021 – the 50th year anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence. One of the components of Vision 2021 is Digital Bangladesh, which aims to bring socio-economic transformation through information and communication technology (ICT). To date, mobile has been an important element in the advances that Bangladesh has made.“In Bangladesh, Sida focuses on deepening the support to basic health care, gender equality and women’s rights, private sector development and the environment, as well as climate change adaptation, said Johan Hellström, Program Manager Specialist, Digital Development, Unit for Global Economy and Environment (GECO), Department for International Organisations and Policy Support (INTEM), Sida. “Sida believes that mobile technology is a cost-effective – and increasingly essential – large-scale tool for inclusive development. Delivering access to information can help in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, and increases the effectiveness of private and public services including health care and financial services.”“UNDP feels privileged to partner with Bangladesh on yet another transformative development initiative. Long known as a rich laboratory for innovative development solutions, Bangladesh has creatively leveraged the unprecedented availability and use of simple technologies to pioneer simplification of governance and improvement of people’s lives,” said Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Bangladesh. “With this new engagement, I am confident that Bangladesh will have plenty to offer for other developing nations to emulate, thereby contributing to global achievement of Agenda 2030.”

Ziel Expands to Offer APEX Radio Frequency Technology for the Cannabis Industry

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 4 novembre 2017

CannabisZiel, a food safety solutions company with proven technology utilized across the globe, has launched a new cannabis division to help medium and large scale cultivators, processors, and distributors achieve regulatory compliance while maximizing product revenue. Ziel’s chemical-free, organic technology reduces total yeast and mold count in cannabis while retaining potency and terpenes.
Cannabis is placed in APEX to receive a patent-pending radio frequency treatment process that reduces yeast and mold. APEX is used by companies such as Los Suenos Farms and The Green Solution. (Photo: Business Wire)Ziel’s APEX technology is currently being used by Los Suenos Farms, the largest outdoor cannabis farm in the country, and The Green Solution, a vertically integrated retailer, cultivator and processor of cannabis flower with 13 locations in Colorado.Offering custom solutions using radio frequency (RF) technology and hand-crafted machine design, Ziel’s APEX ensures that total yeast and mold count present in cannabis falls within U.S. state regulatory guidelines of less than 10,000 colony-forming units (cfu) per gram. Ziel’s patent pending technology achieves this challenging target while retaining high potency and preserving terpenes using an efficient and organic treatment method free of chemicals. Mold and yeast count levels that rise beyond regulatory compliance will not only fail regulatory guidelines, but can pose a consumer health risk, as well as jeopardize a company’s license, brand, revenue, and enterprise value.“The ideal growing environment for cannabis is also the ideal growing environment for yeast and mold, making mold an issue for any indoor or outdoor cultivator,” explains Ketch DeGabrielle, cannabis consultant and former operations manager at Los Suenos Farms, the largest outdoor grow facility in the United States. “After exhaustively testing every disinfection option on the market, we found that Ziel’s radio frequency technology was the most effective and reliable method in removing contaminants while retaining the integrity of the plant.” Using APEX is a turnkey solution with no chemicals or waste. Up to 20 pounds of cannabis is placed in a box with probes to monitor temperature in real time, then placed in the RF cavity for 10 minutes process time. By creating an oscillating electromagnetic field at 27.12 MHz between two electrodes, any product containing polar molecules, such as water, will oscillate when placed in this field. The rapid internal gyration of molecules generates heat volumetrically, which then, based on Ziel’s proprietary processing parameters, kills targeted contaminants, pasteurizing and disinfecting the raw material, making it safe for consumption or inhalation. Ziel’s APEX also comes with a CE mark, and the design is UL compliant. Another version of the APEX with a CSA mark, suitable for the Canadian market, will be available in the first quarter of 2018. Best’s Special Report: How Chinese Life Insurers Need to Adjust to the New Regulatory Reality

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 26 ottobre 2017

pechinoPechino. Eight of the top 13 life insurers in China have experienced a decline in their solvency level since fourth-quarter 2015, underscoring the crucial need for regulation/supervision that ensures the industry develops in a viable and sustainable manner. A new A.M. Best special report explores how regulators in China’s life insurance sector have had a profound effect on the industry with the influence and enforceability of changes they have enacted. These changes will continue to affect life insurers in a wide range of areas, including product development, distribution, investments and risk management.
The Best’s Special Report, “How Chinese Life Insurers Need to Adjust to the New Regulatory Reality,” how previous changes in investment and pricing regulations by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) led to robust growth in recent years. Direct life premium (excluding premium for investment-linked products) accelerated to a year-over-year increase of 25% in 2015 compared with 4.2% in 2012. This growth rate increased further to 37% in 2016.The companies that exhibited gaps in their solvency level under the China Risk-Oriented Solvency System (C-ROSS), which was fully implemented in 2016, experienced rapid growth in their total required capital that outpaced their actual capital. The top 13 companies represent approximately three-quarters of the total market share. For the eight companies that saw a decline in its capital level, the magnitude ranged from 15% to more than 100%.These life insurers showed signs of solvency improvement in the first half of 2017 due to slower growth in the capital required to support market risk on a quarter-to-quarter basis, relative to the growth in the actual capital during the last quarter. To further improve their solvency position, A.M. Best believes the companies should look at their asset allocations, and consider duration-matching and investment risk more prudently during the investment decision-making process. However, it will take time for companies to divest and rebalance their investment portfolios, particularly if they were already heavily invested in private equity or other long-term investments that have less liquidity. Life insurers also may need to adjust their business mix to achieve a liability mix and duration that can be matched with appropriate investment assets.China’s growing middle class continues to provide ample business opportunities for life insurers to expand their book of business. However, life companies that are less skilled in asset-liability management will face pressure to sustain their business viability as well as capital adequacy over the medium term, and industry consolidation could occur as a result.

The first edition of HITEC Dubai will be hosted by HFTP and Naseba in 2017

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 28 settembre 2016

hitec-dubaiDubai, UAE – Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, or HFTP, is a global hospitality association responsible for organizing the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition & Conference (HITEC), the world’s leading hospitality technology event. In partnership with Naseba, a business facilitation company based in Dubai, HFTP will now be bringing HITEC to the Middle East for the very first time. The most recent edition of HITEC in New Orleans, Louisiana USA, gathered 6,395 hospitality professionals representing 65 countries. The conference hosted over 106 speakers in daily education sessions, and 867 exhibition booths showcasing the latest products and services of 342 exhibiting companies. HITEC has become a must-attend event for every major stakeholder and decision maker in the global hospitality industry. Now, with the introduction of HITEC Dubai, the platform will become accessible to buyers from the lucrative Middle Eastern tourism and hospitality market, currently worth over 75 billion USD. With occupancy rates and REVPar in the Middle East climbing to some of the highest levels seen worldwide since the 2008 global financial crisis, hotels in the region are fighting to distinguish themselves from competitors. Many are choosing to do so by offering a superior guest experience shaped by the latest technology and digital services. However, the region provides very few platforms for Middle Eastern hospitality buyers to meet world-class vendors of technology and finance solutions. Naseba’s Hotel Technology Summit, organised in partnership with HFTP for the past three years, is one such platform. And now HITEC Dubai will provide an enhanced way for Middle Eastern hoteliers to do business with technology companies from around the world. In addition to the exhibition format seen at HITEC in the U.S., HITEC Dubai will feature a summit with one-to-one business meetings that have become the hallmark of Naseba’s platforms. Hoteliers attending the summit portion of HITEC Dubai will be pre-qualified to confirm their purchasing authority, budgets, timelines and solutions of interest. For participating technology and finance companies, HITEC Dubai will therefore combine the best of two worlds: thought leadership and reaching the right buyers.
The education sessions that have proven so popular at past editions of HITEC will also be a staple of HITEC Dubai, with experts from around the globe sharing key insights into the tech trends and transformations shaping today’s global hospitality market.
“Over the past four and a half decades, HFTP has built an extensive network of global industry leaders that come together each year for HITEC, an unparalleled hospitality technology event,” said HFTP CEO Frank Wolfe, CAE. “In effort to accommodate HFTP’s expanding global audiences, HFTP and Naseba will bring HITEC to the Middle East for the first time. HFTP is pleased to continue its successful alliance with Naseba, and we are confident that combining experience and resources from two global associations will result in a highly effective event that will be of value to industry professionals located in the Middle East as well as the hospitality technology industry at large.” Nicholas Watson, Managing Director at Naseba, said “We are proud to be partnering with HFTP to host the newest edition of HITEC, allowing leading technology and finance companies to access the world’s fastest-growing hospitality market. We look forward to seeing contributions from not only CEOs of innovative companies and owners of established hotel brands, but also the directors, managers and executives who ensure the continued success of those organisations. Our partnership with HFTP has helped us to better serve the needs of the regional hospitality market. Bringing HITEC to the region for the first time will completely change the landscape of doing business in this market, and create exciting new opportunities for global vendors and Middle Eastern hotels.” Registration for this unique platform will be available to all qualified hospitality professionals and technology vendors. 5G e Industry 4.0 creano nuove opportunità nel mercato globale di test e misure

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 1 aprile 2016

Lo studio “2025 Vision for the Global Test and Measurement Industry” fa parte del programma Test & Measurement Growth Partnership Service. Altri studi di Frost & Sullivan collegati a questo argomento sono: “Global Network Recording Market”, “Global Centralized Radio Access Network (C-RAN) Testing and Monitoring Market”, “Global Mass Spectrometry Market”, “Adapting to the Future of Dimensional Metrology: Evaluating the potential for CT systems” e “Global Fire Safety Services Market”. Tutte le analisi comprese nel servizio in abbonamento forniscono dettagliate opportunità di mercato e tendenze del settore, valutate in seguito ad esaurienti colloqui con gli operatori del mercato.
