EOS imaging Announces First Private Practice Installation of An EOS® System in Germany

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 29 giugno 2018

EOS imaging (Paris:EOSI) (Euronext, FR0011191766 – EOSI – Eligible PEA – PME), the pioneer of 2D/3D imaging and data solutions for orthopedics, today announced the installation of an EOS® imaging system at ATOS Klinik Heidelberg, establishing it as first private practice in Germany to offer the low-dose 2D/3D imaging system. The system will be available at the spinal surgery center, Zentrum für Wirbelsäulenchirurgie, a private practice led by Dr. Bernd Wiedenhöfer and Dr. Stefan Matschke, two specialists with 20 years of experience in spine therapy each. The practice specializes in non-surgical and surgical treatments of spinal disorders, providing diagnosis and therapy through cutting-edge medicine and state-of-the-art equipment, with an emphasis on patient safety.“EOS imaging utilizes advanced scanning technology to allow ultra-low dose imaging of the entire body,” commented Dr. Wiedenhöfer. “Within a few seconds, the system provides a comprehensive overview of the patient in with up to 90% less radiation than a conventional X-ray and 100% reproduction of the ratios and angles. The resulting benefits for diagnosis and therapy of spinal pathologies are immense, and we are thrilled to now offer this vital technology.”
“Because the EOS® system provides a full-body 2D and 3D images, the patient can be assessed as a whole, which is not possible with a traditional X-ray,” added Dr. Matschke. “EOS® allows to accurately determine clinical parameters such as pelvic obliquity or sagittal disbalance, with valuable advantages for enabling physicians to provide the best treatment plans possible for our patients.”“We have been working to expand the use of the EOS® system in private practices, which serve a significant patient population, as we feel it is important to also offer safe and effective imaging to patients outside the traditional hospital setting,” commented Marie Meynadier, Chief Executive Officer of EOS imaging. “This installation is particularly important for EOS, as it is the first private practice to offer the system in Germany, a key market for us with notable precedent for adopting advanced technologies.”

Summit in Paris the African Renewable Energy Initiative

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 2 dicembre 2015

parisParis. the UN climate summit in Paris the African Renewable Energy Initiative – endorsed by African governments – unveiled a hugely ambitious plan to roll out clean energy across the continent. The announcement included a commitment to install 10GW of new renewable capacity by 2020, and a potential 300 GW by 2030.Meanwhile a report by Climate Action Tracker has found that if all the global coal plants currently in planning are actually built, the world will not be able to limit climate change to two degrees C. This week the Chinese government has had to shut down parts of industry due to air pollution from coal.Commenting on the Africa initiative Kumi Naidoo, Greenpeace International executive director and a South African, said:“Today I am proud of my continent. It has often been said that the nations of Africa do not have the same historic responsibility to act because they’ve done so little to cause the problem. But today they came forward and demonstrated remarkable vision. Africans are in the frontline of climate change, and ours have often been the loudest voices calling for ambitious action. The plan to push for 300 gigawatts of renewables by 2030 is certainly ambitious. But the major chunk of it needs to come through solar and wind installation, as opposed to big dams. Only then will this initiative bring sustainable low-impact energy to huge numbers of people who currently don’t have access to electricity. Africa could become the clean energy continent.”Commenting on the coal plant report and Chinese air pollution, Martin Kaiser of Greenpeace said:“The Paris climate summit needs to send a strong signal to the coal industry – build these plants and you’re burning money, because they’ll soon have to shut down anyway. We simply can’t power our world with coal for decades to come. If we do, we’re looking at temperature rises going well into the dangerous zone.” Her added:“Coal isn’t only a threat to the climate, it’s also poisoning our air. In China this week the government had to shut down parts of national industry because air pollution from coal burning hit critical levels. If Paris sets the world on a path towards 100% renewable energy by the middle of the century, and requires countries to come back with more ambitious short-term emissions targets, it will be good for the climate, our air, human health and our economies.”
China this week suffered one of the highest air pollution levels on record, with the government issuing orders to temporarily shut down or reduce production at factories in Hebei, a neighbouring province.

piscitelliBerlin until 20/9/2009 Singuhr – Horgalerie  Wasserspeicher Prenzlauer Berg Invited by the singuhr – sound gallery, students of the Royal College of Art, Music and Dance in The Hague are collaborating with TU Berlin students under Edwin van der Heide’s guidance to produce the sound installation “Klangspeicher – global/local” for the Small Water Reservoir. The installation focuses on the sound architectonic dimensions of this unique 19th century heritage site. Its function as a water reservoir, its role as a storage area and its transition to a place of artistic discourse all serve as departure points for the joint project.  Paolo Piscitelli  Unpacking  24th July 2009 – 20th September 2009  The Italian artist Paolo Piscitelli has a feel for combining spatial settings, conceptual approaches and transmedial work forms with concrete places. In his “Unpacking” installation, he has stacked hundreds of empty book boxes to act as unpassable walls within the rings of the water reservoir. Together, they create the surfaces for video projections with animated texts – book titles that Piscitelli and selected persons recall in writing, impelled by the relentless ticking of a clock. In “Unpacking”, the audience is both witness and silent participant to a time-based process. The installation invites the viewer to reflect on his/her own inner “residues”. (piscitelli)

Transition Stage

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 11 luglio 2009

erasmusBerlin until 11/10/2009 Akademie der Künste  Pariser Platz 4, Portraits and Sequences 1980-1990. Photographs and installation Curated by Matthias Flügge  “Übergangsgesellschaft” (Transition Stage) is an exhibition of photographs produced in the 1980s in the GDR. The works, which avoid pathos, are at once poetical and punctilious in the way they depict the mood of those momentous years.  The photographic section of the exhibition dovetails with an installation by Thomas Heise, likewise a member of the Academy. Heise’s installation is an assemblage of asynchronous pictures, everyday observations and other fragments using visual and audio material gathered in the course of an art career spanning 30 years.  The exhibition forms part of the Academy’s “Arts and Revolt ’89” programme, an assessment of the 1989 upheavals that follows hard on the heels of its treatment last year of the 1968 revolts. The opening on 9th July will be followed by an Academy discussion. Events scheduled for 16th and 24th September will be dedicated to Hans-Hendrik Grimmling and Wolfgang Hilbig. On 9th October 2009 the Academy is planning a Long Night of readings, discussions, concerts and performances. Other events to be announced. (Image. Erasmus Schröter)

Imi Knoebel Help, help…

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 23 maggio 2009

imiBerlin untikl 9/8/2009 Neue Nationalgalerie  Potsdamer Straße 50 Curator: Prof. Dr. Eugen Blume The German artist Imi Knoebel (born 1940) ranks as one of the most internationally renowned abstract artists. Ever since his earliest works in the nineteen-sixties and in his subsequent pictures and installations, Knoebel treads a fine line between the realms of painting and sculpture. Upon request by the curator, Eugen Blume, Imi Knoebel has now developed an exhibition for the upper hall of the New National Gallery which, by way of a few exceptional works, affords us a retrospective view of his diverse body of work.  The starting point for the exhibition is the famous -Room 19′ from 1968 – a large installation in four parts made of wood, in which Knoebel first introduced a core principle of his work: the principle of layering individual elements which then combine in ever new variations, in pictures and spatial compositions. Leading on from this early key work, the exhibition traces the artist’s life through individual works of the 70s and 80s, such as the documenta piece or the installation entitled -250 000 Drawings’, all the way up to the radiant colour pictures and colour forms of his current creations.  The exhibition does not have a rigid structure imposed on it, but is instead conceived of as an open venue for works either standing or hanging freely within the space. The spacial character of the exhibition thus interacts with the unique architecture of Mies van der Rohe and in the process opens complex perspectives both to the works themselves and to the way they each respectively handle the space. The exhibition -Imi Knoebel’ honours an artistic figure from the Rheinland, someone who is of great importance both nationally and internationally and yet whose work has hardly ever been given the space it deserves in Berlin until now. The exhibition Aernout Mik

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 5 maggio 2009

exhibitionsNew York from May 5 to 30/11/ 2009 The Museum of Modern Art – MoMa 11 West 53 Street –  The Museum of Modern Art presents the exhibition Aernout Mik, the first North American survey of the artist’s work. Mik (Dutch, b. 1962) is distinguished for his ability to combine, shift, and transform artistic practices by creating installations that integrate moving images, sculpture, and architecture into single constructions. Eight of the artist’s works are installed in gallery and non-gallery spaces throughout the Museum, ranging from Mik’s first filmed work Fluff (1996) to Schoolyard (2009), which was commissioned by the Museum for the exhibition. Aernout Mik is organized by Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, with Kelly Sidley, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Film, The Museum of Modern Art, and is on view from May 6 to July 27, 2009.  The installation Vacuum Room (2005) is on view in the Special Exhibitions Gallery on the second floor..
Raw Footage (2006) is on display in the Museum’s Roy and Niuta Titus 1 Theater Lobby Gallery. This two-channel film installation marks a turn for the artist. Instead of devising scenarios and shooting the imagery himself, Mik used materials from newsreels documenting the civil war in Yugoslavia. Mik often pairs related subjects side-by-side, ranging from soldiers loading and firing their guns to visual records of their off-duty hours as they nap and listen to music. At mid-century, The Museum of Modern Art played a leading role in the definition and dissemination of ‘Good Design’, a concept that started taking shape in the 1930s and emerged with new relevance and currency in America and Europe in the decades following World War II. What was Good Design? MoMA’s Message 1944-56 presents over 100 selections from the Museum’s collection-ranging from domestic furnishings and appliances, to textiles, sporting goods, and graphics-to illuminate the primary values of Good Design as promoted by MoMA within an international debate conducted by museums, design councils, and department stores. Iconic pieces by designers including Marcel Breuer, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, and Hans Wegner are shown alongside more unexpected items such as a hunting bow and a plumb bob, as well as everyday objects including an iron, a hamper, a rake, a cheese slicer, and Tupperware. The exhibition is organized by Juliet Kinchin, Curator, and Aidan O’Connor, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design, The Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition is made possible by Design Onscreen, the Initiative for Architecture and Design on Film, Denver. Media support provided by Modern Magazine.
The Museum of Modern Art presents Polish Posters 1945-89, an installation drawn from the Museum’s collection of 24 posters from the Cold War era of the Polish Poster School, which attracted international attention and admiration. Drawing on a rich Central European tradition in graphic arts, designers like Henryk Tomaszewski, Roman Cieślewicz, Jan Lenica, and Franciszek Starowieyski developed a sophisticated visual language characterized by surreal and expressionist tendencies, a bold use of color, and macabre, often satirical humor. Polish posters were generally created to promote cultural events-opera, theatre, films and exhibitions.  Organized by Juliet Kinchin, Curator, and Aidan O’Connor, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design.
Early cinema posters are distinguished by their vivid color lithography and astonishing range of oversized formats. This exhibition includes posters-selected from a recent acquisition from the renowned collection of Dutch film distributor Jean Desmet (1875-1956)-for American, British, German, French, and Italian films dating from 1912 to 1914. Organized by Ron Magliozzi, Assistant Curator, Department of Film. Image: Aernout Mik (photo exhibitions)
