ACI Worldwide Propels National Bank of Kuwait to Become Country’s First Bank to Implement SWIFT gpi

SWIFT gpi has quickly become the new de facto standard in global payments, with member banks able to send and receive funds quickly and securely to anyone, anywhere in the world, with full transparency over where a payment is at any given moment. SACE (Gruppo CDP): 625 milioni di dollari per l’export italiano in Kuwait

KuwaitCon questa operazione, SACE intende facilitare l’assegnazione di forniture a imprese italiane nell’ambito dei lavori di ammodernamento ed espansione delle raffinerie Mina Abdullah e Mina Al-Ahmadi della Kuwait National Petroleum CompanySACE ha garantito un finanziamento da 625 milioni di dollari, erogato da un pool di banche internazionali, guidate da BBVA SA Milan Branch in qualità di Facility Agent di SACE, in favore di Kuwait National Petroleum Company (“KNPC”), principale società del gruppo petrolifero kuwaitiano KPC.
La linea di credito contribuirà al finanziamento del progetto strategico Clean Fuels di KNPC, del valore complessivo di 14,5 miliardi di dollari, che prevede l’ammodernamento e l’espansione delle raffinerie Mina Abdullah e Mina Al-Ahmadi con l’obiettivo di realizzare un complesso integrato altamente efficiente, in grado di soddisfare la domanda locale ed internazionale di prodotti petroliferi ad alto valore aggiunto e con ridotto impatto ambientale.
Si tratta della nuova operazione conclusa da SACE nell’ambito della Push Strategy, il nuovo approccio proattivo introdotto con il Piano Industriale 2016-2020 che punta ad agevolare e rafforzare la competitività dell’export Italiano nei confronti di selezionati acquirenti esteri. A tale scopo, nelle scorse settimane si sono tenuti incontri mirati tra i vertici del gruppo petrolifero kuwaitiano e le aziende italiane interessate ed eventi di business match making ad Abu Dhabi in occasione della fiera internazionale ADIPEC, dedicata al settore dell’oil & gas. Nei prossimi mesi, è prevista l’organizzazione di nuovi incontri per facilitare l’assegnazione di commesse a potenziali esportatori italiani interessati alle opportunità offerte dall’ampio piano strategico di KPC, che prevede 300 miliardi di dollari di investimenti entro il 2030.
Fondata nel 1980, KPC oggi incorpora tutte le realtà petrolifere statali del Kuwait e gestisce tutte le attività del settore, contribuendo in maniera sostanziale al Pil del Paese. KNPC è la principale società del gruppo, responsabile per le attività di raffinazione del petrolio e trattamento del gas, ed opera nel Paese attraverso due raffinerie con una capacità di lavorazione complessiva di 736.000 barili al giorno che aumenterà a 800.000 una volta completato il progetto Clean Fuels.

Kuwait Al-Sumait Prize For African Development Calls For Nominations For 2017 Education Award

Applications for the prize need to be received by Al-Sumait’s Prize office no later than April 30, 2017.The aim of Al-Sumait’s Education Prize is to recognise pioneering contributions to education across Africa, said Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin “Al-Sumait’s 2017 Education Prize is open to individuals and organizations delivering pioneering contributions across the education spectrum in Africa,” said Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), which administers the prestigious prize.Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin said the aim of the prize is to recognize efforts to improve access throughout the African continent to basic or advanced education, boost literacy and decrease dependence of children’s education on the socio-economic status of their parents.Key conditions for the prize include being able to demonstrate research work or projects that are innovative and have achieved high-impact in line with the international standards established for the prize. “The winners of Al-Sumait’s health and food security awards set a high benchmark thanks to their unwavering commitment, ground-breaking applied research and field work to tackle and overcome the scourges of two major impediments to development in Africa, malaria and under-nourishment. The new closing date for entries for the one million dollar Al-Sumait Prize for Food Security is June 30th, 2016, with nomination forms available for download at http://alsumaitprize.org/nominations. Established in honor of the work of Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait, a Kuwaiti physician who spent his lifetime helping the poor in Africa, the Al-Sumait Prize for Food Security is awarded for a research project or initiative the Al-Sumait Board Of Trustees deem to have made significant advancement within one or more of the following areas:Developing new varieties of seeds, crops or livestock which can improve the food security of the poor population in Africa by increasing the calorific and nutritional value of food produced and consumed domestically
Improving farmers’ access to agricultural inputs, techniques, technologies and markets so as to increase the availability of staple products that form a core part of the diet of the poorest people in Africa

The annual Al-Sumait prize, which is worth one million dollars, is awarded for significant advances in development in the categories of health, food security and education for Africa. The health category closed in February and nominations are now open to individuals or institutions worldwide for advances in food security with impact on development anywhere on the African Continent.“An exceptional number of praise-worthy nominations have been received from both individuals and organizations for the Al-Sumait Prize Health Category, which provides a great opportunity to promote pioneering health development throughout Africa by bringing scientific, medical and social ideas to life,” says Dr Mustafa Marafi head of the KFAS Prizes Office.The eventual winner of each prize will be selected by the Al-Sumait Board of Trustees, which comprises prominent international personalities in the field of development in Africa and world-renowned philanthropists. Kuwait today invited nominations for Al-Sumait Prize for Food Security in Africa, the second of its annual prizes to be awarded for significant advances in the areas of food security, health and education in Africa. Open to individuals or institutions, the closing date for entries for the one million dollar Al-Sumait Prize for Food Security is May 31, 2016. Al-Sumait Prize for Food Security will be awarded for a research project or initiative the Al-Sumait Board Of Trustees deem to have made significant advancement within one or more of the following areas:

Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, it includes amongst its membership Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dr. Donald Kaberuka, Former President of the African Development Bank, and Dr. Kwaku Aning, Former Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, International Atomic Energy Agency Application forms for the 2016 Al-Sumait Food Security Prize must be received no later than May 31, 2016. KuwaitKuwait today launched a major initiative to spur sustainable development across Africa with an annual prize recognizing the best research or development advances in food security, health and education that contribute to significantly solving development challenges facing African nations. Named the ‘Al-Sumait Prizes’ after the late Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait, a Kuwaiti physician who devoted his life to helping the poor in Africa, the initiative was endorsed at the first meeting of the Al-Sumait Board of Trustees in Kuwait. Each prize will encompass a sum of one million US dollars, a gold medal and a certificate of recognition to be awarded annually to individuals or institutions achieving a significant advance.The Board comprises prominent personalities in the field of development in Africa and renowned philanthropists, including H.E. Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Dr. Donald Kaberuka, Former President of the African Development Bank.Commenting, H.E.
