L’Europa comunitaria alle prese con una leadership inconsistente

Siamo governati in Europa, e in alcuni casi anche altrove, da una classe politica mediocre e soprattutto incapace di valutare nella sua interezza i mutamenti in atto per poterli tradurre in interessi generali e non limitati a consorterie di dubbia origine. Anche ora che si stanno incrociando le spade tra i vari contendenti l’unico polverone che si è in grado di sollevare sono le polemiche sterili come è il recente caso che ha visto duramente contrapposti il ministro degli esteri lussemburghese e degli interni Matteo Salvini. Ma in questa sciocca diatriba ciò che ci ha colpiti di più sono state le giustificazioni di Asselborn che lo hanno fatto arretrare di almeno un secolo quando le nazioni contavano qualcosa solo se il loro numero di abitanti era elevato. Se fosse in buona fede, allorché afferma che gli immigrati per il paese che li ospita sono una risorsa, mi chiedo il perché non si adopera ad ospitarli in gran numero insieme a tutti i suoi colleghi, dalla Francia in testa, che si guardano bene d’aprire le loro frontiere allo “straniero”. La verità è che l’immigrazione di oggi è la conseguenza delle logiche colonialiste, post colonialiste e delle attuali inciuci con i governanti corrotti di alcuni paesi africani e del vicino oriente che hanno provocato uno sfruttamento selvaggio delle risorse energetiche e minerarie di quei paesi, impoverendoli. Ad aggravare il tutto si è aggiunto il revanscismo tedesco che non potendo scatenare una terza guerra mondiale ha giocato la carta dell’economia arricchendosi a spese delle altre nazioni e condizionandole con i loro alti debiti pubblici. Non sarebbe andata in questo modo se vi fosse stato negli anni passati una maggiore solidarietà tra gli stati e la capacità di contenere la sete di potere dei governi tedeschi, di cui la Merkel è la più accanita sostenitrice, bilanciandola con una comunità europea più forte e determinata.

Loomis Sayles Announces Changes to Global Fixed Income Team Leadership

Loomis, Sayles & Company, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, announced today that Kenneth Buntrock, portfolio manager and co-team leader of the global fixed income team, will retire in March 2019 after 21 years with the company. In preparation for Ken’s retirement, longstanding portfolio managers Lynda Schweitzer and Scott Service will assume leadership roles effective immediately, joining David Rolley as co-team leaders. Equinix espande la propria leadership di mercato in Australia grazie all’acquisizione di Metronode

Metronode è uno dei principali fornitori di strutture di data center in tutta l’Australia, che ospita infrastrutture di comunicazione e internet mission-critical per alcune delle maggiori società e agenzie governative in Australia. L’accordo di acquisizione è stato firmato il 15 dicembre 2017.L’acquisizione di Metronode rafforzerà ulteriormente la posizione di leadership di Equinix in Asia-Pacifico e contribuirà alla sua continua espansione a livello globale. Come risultato della transazione, Equinix espanderà il proprio ecosistema aggiungendo 10 data center, rafforzando la propria posizione a Sydney e Melbourne, e portando la presenza della piattaforma globale Equinix in altre quattro nuove aree metropolitane (Perth, Canberra, Adelaide e Brisbane). La sinistra ha trovato il suo leader?

aula senatoI partiti che si richiamano alla sinistra in Italia sono una galassia formata da tanti pianeti e satelliti ma senza una stella che irradi luce e calore. Quante candidature sono state avanzate e quante altre rinviate al mittente? Tante, troppe. E’ tempo di capire che parlare di sinistra oggi sa di obsoleto. Gli elettori oggi in massima parte non riescono a riconoscersi in quest’area. Ciò non vuol dire che l’ideologia che ad essi si richiama sia tramontata. Tutt’altro. E’ che ha cambiato nome e raccoglie idealmente miliardi di esseri umani sul fronte della lotta per una società egualitaria, per un diritto sia per la vita sia per vivere. Non si può più tollerare che ogni anno milioni di bambini muoiono di fame o per mancanza di assistenza sanitaria per ragioni economiche, non si può più tollerare che le ricadute xenofobe abbiano diritto di cittadinanza, non si può più tollerare che la corsa indiscriminata agli armamenti distragga risorse per l’umanità e generi guerre e distruzioni immani. Qui il confronto diventa epocale tra chi è e chi ha e non si può più pensare che una qualche decina di milioni di persone finisca con il condizionare ed umiliare miliardi di propri simili per il colore della pelle, per il luogo dove sono nati, per la modestia del loro lavoro, per l’appartenenza religiosa in luogo di un’altra e per i propri natali. Se la sinistra in Italia riesce a capire tutto questo e a rendersi conto che, rispetto alle altre ideologie, ha tutte le carte in regola per chiamarsi paladina degli emarginati, allora la sua guida non può che rispecchiare chi nella vita ha lottato, dimostrandolo giorno dopo giorno, per tracciare la strada maestra di una battaglia essenzialmente culturale perché non si può essere servi e un Giuda dai trenta denari del padrone di turno per sentirsi realizzato. CEC leadership visits Estonia

Brussels. A delegation from the Conference of European Churches visited Estonia on 17-20 August 2017 as the country assumed the presidency of the EU. Together with the Commision of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) they met with the Estonian Prime Minister,?Mr. Jüri Ratas, the Interior Minister Mr. Andrus Anvelt and national church leaders.? As a result of the meeting CEC, COMECE, the Estonian Council of Churches in cooperation with Estonia’s Interior Ministry will organise a consultation on religious fundamentalism 16-17 November 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. The CEC and COMECE delegation brought to the attention of the Prime Minister the current challenges of solidarity between East, West, North and South in Europe and the churches’ role and contribution in that debate.? Internal and external migration was also a theme that was discussed. In particular and often neglected, the church leaders highlighted that the implications of migration from one EU Member State to another requires more political attention.?? Changes in the cultural and religious landscape were brought up in the context of a broader and deeper understanding of religions, as provided by general and academic education, is required. Religion should not only be considered as part of the problem but a key element of the solution to the struggles society faces?Conference of European Churches
The CEC delegation continued its visit by learning more about the ecumenical landscape of Estonia. They met with?the heads of the two CEC Member Churches,?Archbishop Urmas Viilma of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and Metropolitan Stefanus of the Orthodox Church, as well as the leadership of the Estonian Council of Churches, President Archbishop emeritus Andres Põder, vice presidents Bishop Philippe Jourdan and Dr. Meego Remmel,?? The CEC delegation was invited by the Orthodox Church to the parish of Obinitsa in Estonian Setomaa for the feast of the Transfiguration of Christ in the Julian Calendar on 19 August. With hundreds of pilgrims of all ages from Estonia and beyond, they saw an impressively vivid dimension of Orthodox popular tradition and contemporary missionary potential?

“I would like to especially thank the delegates for the confidence. During my first two years of the mandate of the Chairman of the Prague Social Democrats, we managed to stabilize our organization. Now we have all the energy directed to the House and the upcoming local elections, in which we want to present a clear alternative to the populist promises YES movement and antisocial policy right, “said Miloslav Ludvik. Vice-Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee of the CSSD Prague after Thursday’s conference, Daniel Hodek, Jan Baláč, George Bodenlos, René Pekárek and Hana Novakova. Presidium member of the CSSD was Petr Hulinský. Nomination for CSSD chairman Bohuslav Sobotka received and statutory CSSD deputy chairman Milan Chovanec. Nomination for the post of Vice CSSD won Lenka Teska Arnoštová, Petr Dolínek, Michael Marks Tominová and Lubomir Zaoralek. “Nominations for the post of Vice social democracy really appreciate. Current CSSD in my opinion, stands on good left-wing foundations, which need only to revive and improve the presentation of the public, “said Peter Dolínek.
Delegáti krajské konference pražské ČSSD na čtvrtečním jednání zvolili nové předsednictvo. Post předsedy obhájil Miloslav Ludvík. Delegáti zároveň jednali o nominacích na nadcházející sjezd ČSSD, který se uskuteční na jaře příštího roku.
„Chtěl bych zejména poděkovat delegátům za důvěru. Během dvou let mého prvního mandátu předsedy pražské sociální demokracie se nám podařilo naši organizaci stabilizovat. Nyní musíme veškerou energii směřovat k nadcházejícím sněmovním a komunálním volbám, ve kterých chceme představit jasnou alternativu k populistickým slibům hnutí ANO i asociální politice pravice,“ uvedl Miloslav Ludvík. Místopředsedy Krajského výkonného výboru ČSSD Praha jsou po čtvrteční konferenci Daniel Hodek, Jan Baláč, Jiří Bodenlos, René Pekárek a Hana Nováková. Členem Předsednictva ČSSD se stal Petr Hulinský. Nominaci na předsedu ČSSD obdržel Bohuslav Sobotka a na statutárního místopředsedu ČSSD Milana Chovance. Nominaci na post místopředsedy ČSSD získali Lenka Teska Arnoštová, Petr Dolínek, Michaela Marksová Tominová a Lubomír Zaorálek.

Fintech Companies Hold the Keys to Close $2 trillion Funding Gap for SMEs

Banca europea per gli investimentiFinancial technology companies are leading the way in disruptive innovation in financial services, helping to bridge a $2 trillion funding gap for millions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking credit to grow their business. This is the conclusion of a white paper released today by the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Finance & Capital The paper titled “The Future of Fintech – A Paradigm Shift in Small Business Finance” was written by a team of MBA students from Saïd Business School, Oxford led by Daniel Drummer, under the leadership of members of the Global Agenda Council. According to the paper, fintech entrepreneurs are disrupting SME financing by offering such tailored services to SMEs as invoice and supply chain financing, equity crowd funding and SME-to-SME lending. It also noted that equity investment into the fintech businesses quadrupled to $12 billion in 2014, up from $4 billion in 2013.’A team of our MBA students spoke to more than 100 CEOs, bank executives and investors to understand the current state of the fintech sector,’ said Professor Peter Tufano, Dean of Oxford Saïd. ‘The overwhelming consensus is that fintech has successfully started to gain traction in recent years, yet there remains huge further potential for the sector to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to tap the funding gap for SMEs.’ ‘Financing for SMEs is lacking although there is an ample amount of cash ready to get deployed’, said Michael Koenitzer, Financial Inclusion Project Lead at the World Economic Forum and Council manager. ‘But in this case fintech disruptors are increasingly filling the gap banks and investors leave. SMEs can turn to them to get the credit needed to grow their business, as fintech is providing a much needed relief to small businesses around the world.’ The need for SME financing is widespread. The UK, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey, Nigeria, Morocco, China, Canada and Argentina are among the dozens of countries worldwide where businesses indicate access to finance as a top three concern for doing business, the recent World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016 showed, a consequence of the global financial crisis.‘Small businesses account for more than half of the world’s GDP and two-thirds of all employment,’ said Peer Stein, Director of Finance and Markets Global Practice at the World Bank Group. ‘If fintech can provide levers to help them succeed, we should create the right environment to make this happen.’ In the last decade, innovations in hospitality such as Airbnb or in transport such as Uber have significantly changed paradigms in those industries while drastically improving customer experience. ‘Innovations have always disrupted established industries,’ said Arnaud Ventura, Co-founder of Positive PlaNet Foundation and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the MicroCred Group. ‘This report looks at how fintech-related innovations could improve SMEs access to finance. We strongly believe that innovations in this field will contribute to improving the state of the world.’ The report makes recommendations to help the fintech sector realise its full potential including collaboration between partners, government incentives, and the creation of a positive and cooperative regulatory environment.

Gender e leadership

opportunita-lavoroSul lavoro ci sono capacità o talenti che rendono una donna migliore (o peggiore) di un collega maschio? Tra i due generi, quale sa farsi valere di più al timone di un’azienda? “È bene mettere subito le cose in chiaro: non esiste una risposta a queste domande. Si potrebbe parlare per ore senza giungere a una conclusione” – afferma Sofia Cortesi, Finance Director di Hays, uno dei gruppi leader a livello globale nel recruitment specializzato. “Le questioni di genere sul posto di lavoro sono una materia di discussione che è stata esplorata da numerose angolazioni, ma se si cerca di stabilire a chi debba essere assegnata la palma del migliore si rischia di generalizzare, cadendo in stereotipi molto spesso infondati e inconcludenti”. Quello che si può fare, invece, è sentire i professionisti per capire se per loro, ha ancora importanza rispondere ad un capo in tailleur o un manager in giacca e cravatta.
Secondo quanto emerge, per esempio, da una ricerca della società Gallup condotta lo scorso anno negli Stati Uniti su un campione di 1.000 lavoratori*, ipotizzando di iniziare un nuovo impiego, il 26% degli intervistati (vs 39% delle intervistate) preferirebbe interfacciarsi con un capo maschio, mentre solo il 14% degli uomini (vs 25% del campione femminile) vorrebbe avere un boss in gonnella. “Ancora oggi, almeno in America, i professionisti sembrano sentirsi più a loro agio se al comando c’è un uomo – continua Cortesi –. La ragione può essere di natura psicologica. Una donna è spesso vissuta come una persona ‘lunatica’, esigente ed impulsiva e questo può generare ansia da prestazione nei propri collaboratori. L’uomo, al contrario, è considerato più stabile, diretto e pragmatico”.
Anche chi ha già un’occupazione preferirebbe riportare ad un capo uomo. Sempre secondo il sondaggio condotto da Gallup, tra coloro che già lavorano per un uomo, il 41% afferma di preferirlo ad una donna (15%). Seppure con uno scarto decisamente minore, lo scenario è simile anche tra coloro che al momento rispondono ad una donna: il 33% di loro preferirebbe cambiare ed interfacciarsi con superiore maschio, mentre il 27% vorrebbe continuare a lavorare con una donna come boss.
“In generale avere un rapporto equilibrato con il proprio responsabile in un ambiente complesso come quello lavorativo non è mai facile – conclude Cortesi -. Il carattere e la competenza del superiore sono sicuramente imprescindibili per creare una collaborazione proficua, ma a volte un’esasperazione delle caratteristiche e degli stereotipi di genere possono creare delle barriere invalicabili. Non va, infatti, dimenticato che la diversità è un valore fondamentale e solo con l’equilibrio tra genere maschile e femminile si riescono a raggiungere i migliori traguardi”.
