Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2019

Männedorf, Switzerland The Tecan Group (SIX Swiss Exchange: TECN) announced today that it has signed agreements to acquire a long-term supplier to vertically integrate the manufacturing of critical precision-machined parts for its liquid handling pump portfolio. With two manufacturing sites, one in California, USA, and a second site in Vietnam, Tecan will be able to benefit from the long-term supply of high quality precision-machined parts and realize cost savings by internalizing their supply. Today, Tecan already is the largest customer of this supplier, making up for a significant share of revenues. The purchase consideration of USD 22.5 million (CHF 22.4 million) will be fully paid in cash. Closing of the transaction is subject to various conditions, including certain approvals in Vietnam. The impact of the acquisition on Tecan’s 2019 financial results depends on the exact timing of the closing of the transaction. With Tecan being the largest customer, sales to third parties are only expected to generate additional sales in a low- to mid single-digit million Swiss franc amount. The transaction is expected to be immediately accretive to earnings per share (EPS) and the impact on the communicated Tecan Group EBITDA margin outlook for 2019 will be slightly positive. Cost benefits by internalizing the supply are expected to enhance the operating profitability beyond 2019.

Ronald S. Lauder: President Santos ‘has set an example for other parts of the world’

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 10 ottobre 2016

new yorkNEW YORK – World Jewish Congress (WJC) President Ronald S. Lauder today welcomed the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s decision to give this year’s Nobel Peace Prize to Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos. “President Santos thoroughly deserves this award. He really is a peace-maker,” Lauder said.Ronald S. Lauder declared: “President Santos has worked incredibly hard for peace, and he has proved that even the most entrenched conflicts can be resolved if all parties are willing to sit down, negotiate, and commit to peaceful solutions. He has set an example for other parts of the world.”Reaching peace after more than five decades and a conflict that cost the lives of so many Colombians is a major achievement. President Santos can be proud of that. Trying to make peace requires a lot of courage and tenacity, and he has shown that many, many times.“I sincerely hope that it will be possible for him to secure a permanent end to this conflict, despite the outcome of last Sunday’s referendum, and I am sure he will succeed eventually.”As the Nobel Committee rightly remarked, this award is also a tribute to the strength and sense for justice of the people of Colombian who have not given up hope of reaching a just and lasting peace.”The Colombian peace process is not completed yet, but hopefully Colombians will feel encouraged by this important award for their president,” the WJC president stated.Lauder has met with Santos numerous times. In March 2016, Lauder was honored in Washington, DC by Colombia’s ambassador to the United States, Juan Carlos Pinzon.
The World Jewish Congress (WJC) is the international organization representing Jewish communities in 100 countries to governments, parliaments and international organizations.

Tyres Set European eRetailing Market for Automotive Parts Rolling

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 12 aprile 2014

auto industryLondon, UK  The growing influence of the internet on the auto industry can be seen in the continuous growth of the eRetailing market for automotive parts. eRetailing of automotive components has given aftermarket participants a fresh boost and presents a new sales channel dynamic enough to be in sync with evolving macro-economic conditions and also flexible enough to address customer needs by offering a personalized shopping experience. The sale of tyres is according to Frost & Sullivan (www.automotive.frost.com) by far the biggest segment amongst all automotive replacement parts sold online, contributing close to 46 percent of total
aftermarket eRetail revenues for auto parts in Europe and being worth EUR 2.5 billion in 2013.“Rapid growth in online tyre retail is indicative of a shift in aftermarket consumer behaviour with respect to cost, availability and choice,” says Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst, Anuj Monga. “The online sale of tyres currently constitutes 7.8 percent of the total tyre aftermarket. Growth in online tyre sales therefore challenges the current decline in sales, as witnessed by the broader tyre aftermarket, particularly through traditional retail channel.” The impact of the global economic recession has been visible across all industries in Europe, with the automotive industry having been hit the hardest, a major reason for the slump in overall tyre sales.Online tyre retail however, will constitute roughly about 20 percent of the total tyre replacement aftermarket revenues by 2020. “France, Germany and Russia are the countries leading this growth with an online tyre retail penetration of 12 percent, 11 percent and 8 percent respectively while the UK, Italy and Spain are also expected to experience strong growth,” Monga continues. Online tyre retailers are matching service levels of traditional tyre retailers to facilitate this growth, which includes efficient tyre fitment and in most cases return of worn out tyres. While price discounts of tyres sold online is a major pull for customers, the possibility of choosing from a wide variety of make and models is also a key driver. Another area where tyre eRetailers can possibly differentiate themselves are refurbished tyres. eGommerce, an Italian startup tyre eRetailer, is already exploring this avenue. Other discounts and freebies also belong to the tried means of attracting customers to the online channel.New market players are attracted to the market, as customers show a growin confidence in purchasing replacement tyres online. The shift in consumer attitude has lead companies to offer personalized shopping solutions, of which the ‘door-step delivery and fitment’ service is the most popular. Offering consumers a choice of tyre fitment at a location of their choice has already triggered considerable attention, with companies like Allopneus (France) leading the way in enriching the whole customer purchase experience. In terms of revenues, German pioneer Delticom lead the market in 2013 with EUR 600 million in sales.  The company has 137 online shops spread across 42 countries and a network of 35000 professional fitting garages. Other noticeable names in the tyre eRetail market are Blackcircles.com, Oxyo-Pneus, PopGom, Pneus Online, Oponeo.pl and eGommerce. These new market entrants are expected to develop new business models in the future, which will further foster growth in online business. The market is however, expected to witness significant consolidation in coming years, as companies  look to gain a stronghold in this competitive environment.

OMA’s design for Axel Springer’s new media centre in Berlin has been chosen as the winner in the final round of a public design competition

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 9 aprile 2014

berlinoThe building will embody Axel Springer’s corporate shift from print to digital media, and will create a new hub in the existing Axel Springer campus in central Berlin. Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer: “We are very happy to be able to build the new building of our publishing house together with Rem Koolhaas. He presented the conceptually and esthetically most radical model. The fundamental innovation of working environments will support the cultural transformation towards a digital publishing house.” Rem Koolhaas, founding partner of OMA: “It is a wonderful occasion for our office to build in Berlin again, on this historical site of all places, for a client who has mobilized architecture to help perform a radical change…a workplace in all its dimensions…” Opposite the existing Axel Springer headquarters on Zimmerstrasse, a street which previously separated East and West Berlin, the building will be situated at one of the city’s most significant locations. The new office block is bisected by a diagonal atrium that opens up to the existing Springer buildings — an extension of the Springer campus. The essence of the proposal is a series of terraced floors that together form a ‘valley’. Each floor contains a covered part for formal work, which is then uncovered on the terraces to act as an informal stage and a place to broadcast ideas to other parts of the company. The ground floor is open to the city and contains studios, event and exhibition spaces, canteens and restaurants. OMA’s design team is led by partners-in-charge Rem Koolhaas and Ellen van Loon, and project leaders Katrin Betschinger, Alain Fouraux and Betty Ng. The project was developed in collaboration with Chris Carol from Arup London, Duncan Phillips from RWDI for microclimate consultation, Eckhard Kahle of Kahle Acoustics, Christian Wernicke and Christoph Winter of SMV Bauprojektsteuerung & Emproc GmbH for cost consultation, and Peter Stanek for fire safety consultation. Today is Veterans Day

Veterans Day 2011

Image by BusNikon "Take a picture it will last longer" via Flickr

Yesterday, the Senate passed the President’s jobs plan to help veterans find work after returning home. It’s a huge victory for the men and women who served with honor and distinction, and in many cases put their lives on the line for us. So let’s join the Senate in honoring veterans today — write a quick note to say thank you. We’ll be sharing some of your words on our blog and social networks this weekend. This wouldn’t have happened without your persistence and the President’s refusal to take no for an answer. That’s why he insisted on Congress voting on parts of the American Jobs Act — one by one — until they finally did the right thing. The two bills that the Senate passed yesterday, the Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits, will give businesses up to $9,600 back for hiring veterans who are out of work or who have service-related disabilities. That’s on top of new career resources that the President announced this week to support the more than 850,000 unemployed veterans living here at home, and more than a million returning from Iraq and Afghanistan in the next few months and years. One of the highest duties we share as Americans is to serve the men and women who’ve served us. We simply couldn’t wait for these commonsense steps to help our veterans. And thanks to Democrats and Republicans in the Senate putting country before party, we won’t need to.
