Personal Digital Twin: alter ego digitale e comunicazione

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 2 Maggio 2021

Is Facebook about to commit a huge mistake?

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 25 novembre 2014

A woman uses an iPad with a Facebook app in this photo illustration in SofiaFacebook has recently announced that it intends to launch “Facebook At Work” in an attempt to respond the growing membership of LinkedIN and the popularity of file sharing and other office products produced by Microsoft and Google. But in doing so it could overstretch itself, invite retaliation and further lose credibility.Growing fears about the security of personal data on social networking sites has been fuelled by privacy breaches in recent years. But it is one thing to compromise data posted by individuals on sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn, but quite another if breaches take place when their employer has posted the data or personal data is viewed in the workplace. The EU’s Data Protection Directive, for instance, places strict constraints on the exchange of personal data by companies – especially if this means transmission of such data to locations outside the European Union. The launch of “Facebook at Work” is a clear challenge to Facebook’s principal networking rivals and also companies providing a wide range of file-sharing and team working software . – including Google and Microsoft. Meeting such rivals head on in an increasing mature market could weaken everyone concerned., especially if it further sensitizes employers to the issues of workplace confidentiality and cthe ostly distractions of social networking – which can have such a big impact on productivity. Robin Chater, Founder of the new online business networking community ‘ButN’ welcomes this development. “ It will be interesting to see the heavyweights in the social networking market fighting it out for business users. Facebook can see how quickly LinkedIn is growing – in spite of its many critics – and think it can do better. But I am afraid neither organization really understands the business market like we do. butN has just completed its beta testing and we have extensively analyzed current offerings, so that we can provide something radically different. We also originate from the world’s leading employer organization – so we are insiders in the business networking market. “ The writing could be on the wall for Facebook if it ventures too far. For proof of this it is only necessary to look at “We Chat”, the Chinese social networking App launched in 2010 which claims to have over 600 million users (mainly in China). Although its owner Tencent Holdings wants it to become the largest networking site in the world recent reports suggest that it has overextended and is now losing members. The future of networking will not be through big communities – but via niche players like butN. butN aims its sites on two important groups – business travellers and networking within companies in order to forge connections across corporate functions and engender greater employee engagement. Both services can only be effectively developed from within the business community – which gives butN considerable edge.
ButN’s business model is also very different from any other networking organization as it will eventually be owned to a significant extent by its users who will benefit from any windfall that comes from its stock market launch or acquisition.
The butN networking approach differs significantly from most of its rivals by aiming to help business travellers achieve face-to-face contacts during their business trips. It was successfully beta tested in Australia and New Zealand in October and early November 2014 and is currently negotiating $10 million in venture capital and seeking additional crowd funding. However, 10% (rising to 20%) of all net profits generated will go back to its active users.butN is the networking arm of The Federation of International Employers (http://www.fedee.com)

MEPs tighten up rules to protect personal data in the digital era

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 13 marzo 2014

DysonMEPs inserted stronger safeguards for EU citizens’ personal data that gets transferred to non-EU countries in a major overhaul of the EU’s data protection laws voted on Wednesday. The new rules aim both to give people more control over their personal data and to make it easier for firms to work across borders, by ensuring that the same rules apply in all EU member states. MEPs also increased the fines to be imposed on firms that break the rules, to up to €100 million or 5% of global turnover. The EU’s 19-year-old EU data protection laws urgently need updating to keep pace with the progress of information technologies, globalisation and the growing use of personal data for law enforcement purposes.”I have a clear message to the Council: any further postponement would be irresponsible. The citizens of Europe expect us to deliver a strong EU wide data protection regulation. If there are some member states which do not want to deliver after two years of negotiations, the majority should go ahead without them”, explained rapporteur for the general data protection regulation, Jan Philipp Albrecht (Greens/EFA, DE).”Allow me to express my dissatisfaction and frustration about the fact that it is the Council, or at least some member states, which are preventing us from achieving the goal that we had set, namely to have the data protection reform package passed by the end of this Parliament’s mandate”, said rapporteur for the directive on the protection of personal data processed for law enforcement purposes, Dimitrios Droutsas (S&D, EL).

Employment Exhibition

London. A survey conducted by job site, reed.co.uk, has found that personal interests play a primary role for young professionals when considering their ideal employer. The reed.co.uk Big Brands Survey conducted its research across 2,200 respondents in every age group, including employees in marketing jobs, as well as new recruits in wider sectors, such as finance and sales. Nearly 25% of Under 18 year olds cited ‘personal interest’ as the area they would most like to improve in their current employment- a trend reed.co.uk witnessed extend across all younger age groups. Nearly 20% of respondents aged between 18-24 years old emphasised the importance of ‘personal interest’ when stating potential improvements to their current employment. Younger professionals also cited their employers’ reputation and the quality of services or products provided as desirable improvements to existing employment. However younger professionals also highlighted the importance of receiving adequate training through employment. 13% of respondents, aged between 18-24 years old, confessed to seeking employment based solely on the ‘Training, courses and Development’ opportunities provided by the employer. For older jobseekers, employment desirables change, however. Over 41% of respondents, aged above 35, deemed the ‘pay, benefit and conditions’ offered by a prospective employer, as prime considerations when looking for a new job. Yet it’s ‘reputation’ that appears to unify all jobseekers. It seems nearly everyone, irrespective of age, would consider taking a job if they were working for a company they thought of as being reputable.

The Economic Slump

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 9 ottobre 2009

London. New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.automotive.frost.com), Strategic Analysis of the European Market for Low Cost OEM Navigation Systems, estimates the market to be worth 0.15 million in terms of unit sales in 2009 and predicts it to reach 1.83 million by 2016. Fixed in-dash, mobile phone and integrated personal navigation device (PND) systems, proposed as a standard feature in select vehicle models, will drive this market expansion. Renault has paved the way in offering dedicated in-dash systems as a standard feature. Within four years, dedicated in-dash systems will prevail as a standard feature and will come to dominate the low-cost OEM navigation systems market. The biggest challenge facing the market is the dramatic slowdown in Europe. Automakers have been focusing more on fuel efficiency while consumers have been reluctant to dig deeper in their pockets for a fixed navigation system when portable units are available at a nominal price. Eastern European markets have been particularly hard-hit. Strategic Analysis of the European Market for Low Cost OEM Navigation Systems is part of the Automotive & Transportation Growth Partnership Services programme, which also includes research in the following markets: Comparative Analysis of the European, North American, Chinese, South Korean and Indian Telematics Markets, European Aftermarket for Vehicle Access and Security Systems, Strategic Analysis of European Market for eCall and bCall Systems, Strategic Analysis of European Market for Stolen Vehicle Tracking Systems, An Update of European Market for Telematics Based Pay As You Drive Insurance Systems, and Executive Update of European Passenger Vehicle Telematics and Infotainment Markets.
