REGEnLIFE presents first results of pilot clinical trial evaluating

Montpellier, France, REGEnLIFE, a company specialized in the research and development of innovative photo-medical technologies for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, announces today the promising results of the pilot clinical trial evaluating its technology in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The results were presented by Professor Jacques Touchon, scientific advisor on the trial, at the 15th International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases (AD/PD 2021), held online from March 9 to 14, 2021.REGEnLIFE’s innovative non-invasive technology, evaluated in a therapeutic trial, is based on photobiomodulation, targeting both the brain and gut via a helmet and abdominal device. This cutting-edge medical device, RGn530, stimulates cells in the brain and gut and regulates inflammation – to improve cognitive functions and behavior. It targets inflammation of the gut-brain axis, which is believed to be linked to the development of AD and other neurodegenerative diseases.
The primary efficacy endpoint was measured by the evolution of the total ADAS-Cog score, (Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale), between inclusion and the end of the two-month period of treatment. The REGEnLIFE RGn530 device was shown to be safe; no major side effects were reported. Compliance with treatment sessions was very high for the vast majority of patients (92%). This level of compliance also confirms the good tolerance of the device. While the primary efficacy endpoint was not statistically met, there was a clear improvement trend in a set of cognitive functions. The results of this pilot study showed that REGEnLIFE’s technology is safe and well-tolerated by patients. These very encouraging safety and efficacy results will now be confirmed in a pivotal or phase III clinical trial.Photobiomodulation is based on photonic emissions in the near-infrared, it has already shown analgesic, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. One of the most reproducible effects is the overall reduction in inflammation, especially in the brain. REGEnLIFE’s technology could therefore be used on brain diseases and on pathologies linked to neuroinflammation. REGEnLIFE developed this device employing this scientific approach, using medical technology never before applied to neurology.According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, 35 million patients worldwide have AD. The annual cost of the disease worldwide is estimated at €850bn ($1.02tr). Currently, there are no treatments to cure Alzheimer’s.
In order to address public health issues related to a disease that affects elderly and vulnerable people, REGEnLIFE chose to develop a non-invasive technology with low constraints for patients. The cost of this device is expected to be reasonable for patients and national healthcare systems.

Pilot Chemical Corp. Acquires Órgano Síntesis

Pilot Chemical Corp., headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, announced today it has purchased Órgano Síntesis S.A. de C.V. (OSSA) located in Toluca, Mexico. The acquisition expands Pilot Chemical’s business into the Mexican market and South and Central America and provides growth opportunities for the company’s existing surfactants and antimicrobial businesses. OSSA manufactures products for the personal care, disinfection, sanitizing, cleaning, oil and gas, and water treatment industries and serves customers worldwide.
Driven by Pilot Chemical’s strategy to increase growth and innovation and put a deeper focus on its customers, the acquisition provides international diversification and a platform for Latin America growth. OSSA’s technology, testing/research plant facility, certification under the FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations, and R&D capabilities give Pilot Chemical new ways to serve new and existing customers.“Today marks an important milestone for Pilot,” said Mike Clark, president and chief operating officer of Pilot Chemical. “OSSA greatly enhances our opportunities for growth and allows for further expansion into new technologies and manufacturing capabilities. It has an outstanding reputation in the marketplace, and together we are well positioned for the future.”
OSSA will retain its name under Pilot’s leadership. Soto, who has spent the last 17 years at OSSA, will remain as director general of OSSA and report to Clark. The acquisition includes OSSA’s workforce of nearly 100 employees, its headquarters office in Mexico City and production site in Toluca, Mexico.

Trinseo to Build New TPE Pilot Facility in Hsinchu, Taiwan

Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global material solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders, and synthetic rubber, announced today its plans for a Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) pilot facility in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The TPE pilot facility emphasizes Trinseo’s growth strategy for TPEs globally and will serve customers in the Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Footwear and Medical markets. The pilot facility will be built at Trinseo’s existing manufacturing site in Hsinchu and will begin operation in 2020.The investment in a state-of-the art TPE pilot facility in Asia Pacific is the next step of Trinseo’s TPE growth roadmap following the acquisition of Italian-based API S.p.A, in July 2017. Once the new pilot line in Hsinchu is operational, Trinseo will locally produce its custom engineered TPE and thermoplastic urethanes (TPU), including its leading bioplastics portfolio.“The pilot facility demonstrates our commitment to offer a differentiated, globally available TPE portfolio to our customers in the automotive, consumer electronics, footwear and medical markets,” said Tim Stedman, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development at Trinseo. “This investment in growth in the Asia Pacific region will further strengthen our ability to create growth synergies with customers between our rigid and soft-touch polymers.”

Riconoscimento internazionale a RFID Lab – Univ. Parma

Il premio riconosce i 12 migliori progetti sviluppati durante un dottorato di ricerca, suddivisi in differenti categorie, ciascuna delle quali è sponsorizzata da una rivista della casa editrice Emerald. Massimo Tizzi si è aggiudicato il premio nella categoria “Logistics and Supply Chain Management”, sponsorizzata dall’International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management. Massimo Tizzi riceverà dalla European Foundation for Management Development il certificato ufficiale del premio ed il logo di cui potrà fregiarsi nella corrispondenza.Il riconoscimento “Outstanding Doctoral Research Award 2011” è promosso da Emerald Group Publishing Limited e dall’European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). La prima è una casa editrice scientifica internazionale che da più di 40 anni pubblica articoli scientifici con un impatto sul business, sulla società, sulle politiche pubbliche e sulla formazione, con più di 700 titoli a catalogo, tra riviste scientifiche internazionali, libri e serie di libri. EFMD è invece un’organizzazione internazionale con sede a Bruxelles, che annovera più di 700 membri di 81 paesi, tra università, industrie, enti pubblici e centri di ricerca, con lo scopo di favorire la ricerca, la formazione, l’innovazione e lo sviluppo di best practices nel settore del management aziendale.
L’ing. Massimo Tizzi ha frequentato il XXIII ciclo di dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria industriale presso l’Università degli Studi di Parma e ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di ricerca lo scorso gennaio, discutendo una tesi intitolata “Engineering And Deployment of an Rfid Pilot In The Apparel Supply Chain”, che ha avuto come relatore il prof. Antonio Rizzi, docente presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale dell’Ateneo. La tesi di Massimo Tizzi si inserisce all’interno delle attività di ricerca di RFID lab.
RFID Lab è un centro di ricerca dell’Università degli Studi di Parma di riconosciuta eccellenza internazionale, dove si studiano le applicazioni della tecnologia RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) alla logistica e alla gestione integrata della filiera. Fondato nel 2006 dal prof. Antonio Rizzi, RFID Lab si propone come laboratorio d’avanguardia, sede delle prime sperimentazioni italiane e mondiali riguardanti la tecnologia RFID. Le attività, abbracciano un’ampia casistica di settori industriali dal food e largo consumo, al settore tessile e abbigliamento, la sanità e le pubbliche amministrazioni in genere. In particolare le attività di Massimo Tizzi si inseriscono nel progetto di ricerca “RFID Fashion Pilot”, una sperimentazione pionieristica sulle applicazioni della tecnologia RFID nel settore tessile e abbigliamento, la cui prima fase si è conclusa nel 2011. La borsa di dottorato di RFID Lab di Massimo Tizzi è una delle 3 borse di dottorato finanziate da Id-Solutions, spin off dell’Università degli Studi di Parma, che ha seguito l’implementazione tecnologica del progetto.
Dopo il riconoscimento recentemente ricevuto dal prof. Antonio Rizzi in occasione dell’International Logistics and Supply management conference, un nuovo premio testimonia l’eccellenza della ricerca portata avanti dal centro di ricerca dell’Università di Parma, recentemente confluito nella rete regionale del Tecnopolo di Parma. «Si tratta di un prestigioso riconoscimento attribuito da due organismi di assoluto rilievo scientifico internazionale», sottolinea Antonio Rizzi, relatore della tesi, nonché fondatore e responsabile delle ricerche di RFID Lab. «Massimo Tizzi si è sicuramente distinto come uno dei migliori studenti di dottorato e il suo contributo alle attività di ricerca è stato fondamentale, ma il premio va anche indirettamente anche a tutto il gruppo di ricerca che insieme a lui ha sviluppato in questi anni il progetto RFID Fashion Pilot».
