The myopia of those who see the present but do not think about the future

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 20 dicembre 2018

In other words, what is worse, in Italy, depends on the fact that we are in the presence of a well-oiled system able to make everything difficult, if not impossible, that which is not convenient for the owners of steam. We intend to affirm that the political class is not able today to have sufficient strength to compete on a par with the strong interests of the category. Italian capitalism, for example, has been grafted over the centuries on networks of family relationships. This creates a form of economic conservatism that does not allow other outlets. In this way we always return to the starting point with the addition of another handful of laws that tend more and more to confuse the regulatory framework, already complicated on its behalf, with its over two hundred thousand laws and four hundred thousand regulations and regional provisions , provincial and municipal. We should consider them a natural hierarchy of sources, but it is not so. The desire to clarify, to explain, to clarify, is such and so much that in the end there is the risk of betraying not only the spirit of the law, to which the regulations meticulously refer, but to alter it and confuse it. A governance, therefore, aimed at imposing a directive without causing administrative and procedural cavillosity is valid, of course, only if its purpose is this and nothing else. In this way the Italians would find themselves in the presence of a clearly identifiable authority, willing to assume full powers but at the same time “wise” and “wise” in descending into practical cases. Today, on the other hand, lobbying is dominant. Corporate interests prevail over competitive ones. Everyone tries to make their thesis prevail and is even willing to found a movement or a party or a current or a faction, in order to have its portion of “audience” among those who bivouac in the halls of the building. The result is political and institutional paralysis.
That’s why some “democracies” are either gone or going into crisis. The necessary connection between the principal and the agent is missing for them at a certain point in their development. The risk is clear: each of the parties uses an incomprehensible language to the other, leading to an open diffidence for institutions born and managed above all for the protection of citizens. So we have a non-fair but overbearing and harassing tax authorities. Thus we have a terrible justice with the weak and fearful with the strong. So we have a school that can not educate for life and climbs on the bumpy slope of utopias. So we have a government of the country that can not understand the expectations and aspirations of a people despite having the mandate to govern them. That’s why we talk about the crisis of a system. This is why we are discussing misunderstandings, malaise, the revolt of a people. These, and I always refer to Italy, has not even been educated to be united by a common cultural and geographical identity of ideals. There was simply the claim to identify a possible territory as an area to constitute a specific national sovereignty, regardless. (Riccardo Alfonso)

Christie’s And Andreas Siegfried Present Tropican

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 24 agosto 2017

Jonathan TrayteAn Exhibition Of New Work By Anton Alvarez And Jonathan Trayte, 13-22 September 2017. Christie’s and Andreas Siegfried will present Tropicana, an exhibition pairing works from the multi-faceted practices of Anton Alvarez and Jonathan Trayte at 103 New Bond Street, timed to coincide with London Design Festival. A tropical landscape of sculptures and furniture, made specifically for the space, will run throughout the gallery, set amongst dense foliage. Relying heavily on the use of colour, both Trayte and Alvarez will combine work to create a vivid conversation, taking inspiration from the nature of an equatorial climate and some of the cultural influences from the vast and vibrant region. Heightened colours and contrasts not only serve as surface but are a significant consideration when forming the structural elements of Alvarez’s machine wrapped constructions and the marble/granite combinations of Trayte’s sculptural tables and painted bronze lamps. This will be a striking display of works set in a carefully curated environment of rich vegetation. The exhibition takes place from 13 to 22 September 2017 and is included in Mayfair Design District, a programme curated by Achille Salvagni as part of the London Design Festival.Cristian Albu, Senior Specialist and Director, Post-War and Contemporary Art, Christie’s, London: “Youth culture provocateurs, Anton Alvarez’s and Jonathan Trayte’s practice oscillates between expression and constraint, technological innovation and traditional craftsmanship. Joining disparate materials, such as wood, steel, thread, concrete, marble, to name just a few, unconventionally beautiful results are born from the novelty of their techniques. Their work is at once futuristic, pop, and ancestral.” (photos: Jonathan Trayte, Anton Alvarez)

Manfred Peckl: The Past The Future Present

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 26 settembre 2009

futureBerlin until 31/10/2009 Galerie Jette Rudolph Zimmerstrasse 90-91 Peckl has been employing this method of collage technique for six years. Previous work was based on palindromes of words realised with coloured stamps on wood. The new works featuring within the show seem to be generated in a state of ecstasy, while the artist’s expression follows closely the style of his models. Peckl used to select atlases of stars and topography for his pictures of landscapes and atmospheric ray- sites. Now he takes possession of monographic books of the contemporary and the historical as well as of scientific books of the human anatomy or of fauna. In the face of its mass medial disposability, the artist cuts and shredders it disrespectfully into the finest strips. Peckl exploits the thus gained strips to create his own palette and -gesture- for a representation of heads and figures with or without attributes which are oriented towards the traditional genre of the portrait. The titles of the pictures refer to prominent contemporary and old masters of art whose masterpiece- reproductions in catalogues analogously serve as the artist’s source of material. On the other hand, the persons themselves represented in the pictures do not illustrate any bodily resemblance to their models; rather, it could be said, of an ideal- typical character.  It is an individual dynamic proceeding from Manfred Peckl’s collages to generate its special kind of attraction and fascination. The artist arranges his material of stripes in various compositions on the picture, as for example in synchronical orders, spinning circles or radial- axial explosions of rays. These multiple changes of direction affect the common continuum of (picture) space to suggest an extended perception of the exponentiated dimensions of light, time and motion. At the sight of the artist’s collages, it seems possible to experience the history of art and the human being in accordance with quick motion. (future)
