The single owner collection Lalique

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 9 aprile 2014

montargisLondon – Christie’s London is pleased to announce the single owner collection Lalique: An Important Private Collection, which will take place at Christie’s King Street on 30 April. The calibre of this private collection bears testimony to the discerning eye of the collector, and is a fitting tribute to the extraordinary vision and creativity of the master glass-maker René Lalique, who continues to enthrall an international audience nearly seven decades after his death. Distinguished from previous collections which have appeared on the market in the last decades, this collection primarily focuses on large-scale vases in rare designs and a wide spectrum of colours. In addition to the jewel-like coloured works, there are a number of exquisite hand-crafted cire perdue vases and a selection of significant display items, such as  Oiseau De Feu, which features a mythical firebird and is illuminated from below (estimate: £25,000-35,000). With estimates ranging from £2,500 to £150,000, the 84 lots are expected to realise in the region of £2 million.Christie’s has been selling Lalique since 1971 and has offered more Lalique at auction than any other auction house internationally. In 2013, Christie’s Lalique sale in London realised over £1.3 million, the highest total ever achieved (perruches, montagis)

Obama’s ‘Green’ Initiatives: It Pays (BIG) to Be an Obama Bundler

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 13 dicembre 2011

Official photographic portrait of US President...

From http://www.BigGovernment.com By Peter Schweizer. President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign is promising to raise enormous sums of money, by some estimates and unprecedented $1 billion. The Finance Chair for the 2012 campaign, Matthew Barzun, is reactivating the 2008 financial network of campaign bundlers to meet that goal. In my new book, Throw Them All Out, I expose the scandal that is outrageous and typical: those who are raising money for Obama received large amounts of taxpayer-funded energy stimulus money from the Obama Administration. It offers a new form of “recycling” when it comes to campaign dollars that is unprecedented.
Consider the sweetheart deals and contracts that have come the way of some of President Obama’s biggest fundraisers:
Financier David Shaw has raised $1.08 million for Obama’s reelection so far. Shaw’s firm D.E. Shaw is heavily invested in two wind projects that received taxpayer money: $115 million for First Wind, and $117 million for Kahuku Wind.
Financier John Rogers is a board Exelon board member has raised $1.2 million, and Frank Clark, an executive Exelon, has raised $153,000 thus far. Exelon has been approved for $646 million in Department of Energy loan guarantees for a project called AV Solar Ranch One. They also received a $200 million Department of Energy cash grant through a company they own called Peco Energy for smart-grid work.
Financier Steve Westly has raised $302,000 so far. Westly has held large investment stakes in numerous companies that have received stimulus grants, including Amyris Biotechnologies ($24 million), Tesla Motors ($465 million), as well as Edeniqu and Recyclebank.
Bruce Heyman of Goldman Sachs, who has had three energy projects approved for taxpayer money Cogentrix ($90 million), First Solar ($4.7 million), and U.S. Geothermal ($96.8 million) has already raised $366,884 for the Obama 2012 reelection campaign.
Daniel Weiss of the Angelino Group has raised $39,000 so far. Weiss’ firm is a major equity holder in Powerspan, we received a $100 million cash grant for smart grid projects.
Steve Spinner has raised $31,900 to this point. Spinner is a green energy investor who worked at the Department of Energy as a “strategic advisor” to the loan program.
Other recipients of energy stimulus money have continued cutting checks. Ian Cumming of Leucadia, which has had several large projects approved, has given $10,000 so far to Obama for America and the Obama Victory Fund 2012.
Others are not serving as campaign bundlers, but are rainmakers on an entirely different level. Financier John Doerr has held a series of held a private pow-wow bringing together big financiers to meet with President Obama, including a February 17, 2011 dinner at his home with the late Steve Jobs, Zuckerberg of Facebook, and John Chambers of Cisco Systems. Doerr and his firm have investments in sixteen green energy companies that have received taxpayer grants and loans. The cronyism continues, and only outrage from the American people can stop it.

Single private contribution

Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller at the ...

Image via Wikipedia

The Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation has made a $20 million commitment to the High Line, which is the largest single private contribution to a public park in New York City’s history. This unprecedented pledge, made by Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg, will support our fundraising efforts to transform the final, undeveloped section of the High Line at the West Side Rail Yards and help build an endowment for the park’s long-term maintenance and operations.
In 2005, when the High Line was a beautiful design on paper, many people said it was an impossible dream. Barry, Diane, and their family stepped forward at that crucial moment with visionary support that helped catalyze the construction of the first section of the High Line. Later, during the turmoil of the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009, they stepped forward again to make sure that the second section of the High Line could be built to the same standards of design and to begin an endowment for the park’s long-term operations. Now, understanding the importance of our mission to secure the entire historic High Line at the West Side Rail Yards, and to build our endowment, they have come forward once again to meet the High Line’s most pressing needs. With this pledge, the Diller – von Furstenberg family has donated a total of $35 million to the High Line, demonstrating their leadership in preserving and transforming the High Line into a public park to be enjoyed by New Yorkers for generations to come.
The Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation is a private family foundation which provides philanthropic support to various 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. Founded in 1999, the Foundation is guided by the shared values, concerns and passions of the Diller – von Furstenberg family. As its central goal, the Foundation aims to positively impact the world by improving people’s lives and strengthening communities. To achieve this objective, the Foundation supports organizations which either provide people opportunities for which they would not otherwise have access, or which sustainably improve a community as a whole. The primary recipients of the Foundation’s support are organizations within the following sectors: Community Building, Education, Human Rights, Arts, Health and the Environment.

Roma: violenze private e sicurezza

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 20 febbraio 2011

Giacomo Costa: Postnatural

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 29 maggio 2010

Autonomy of religious organizations

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 11 marzo 2010

Washington – A council of religious and secular leaders charged with improving the operations of the White House faith-based office and its partnerships has presented to senior Obama Administration officials recommendations for the office, including a list of 12 proposals that would implement reforms. The 25 members of President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships presented more than 60 recommendations from the task force charged with reform of the office and the five other task forces. The reform of the office task force’s 12 specific recommendations aimed to strengthen the constitutional and legal footing of public-private partnerships by clarifying the prohibited uses of direct financial assistance, providing guidance on the protection of religious identity while providing social services and assuring the religious liberty rights of clients and beneficiaries of federal social service funds. The Council’s recommendations made it clear that regulations and guidance regarding the use of federal social service funds should equally emphasize two requirements. First, any explicitly religious activities offered by a provider must be privately funded, separate in time or location from the government-funded program, and, second, nongovernmental providers that receive federal grant or contract funds may maintain their institutional religious identity. The Baptist Joint Committee is a 74-year-old, Washington, D.C.-based religious liberty organization that works to defend and extend God-given religious liberty for all, bringing a uniquely Baptist witness to the principle that religion must be freely exercised, neither advanced nor inhibited by government.

Sanità U.S.: la paura della concorrenza

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 17 ottobre 2009

Tullio Lombardo An Antiquity of Imagination

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 6 luglio 2009

imaginationWashington until 1/11/2009 National Gallery of Art  4th Street and Constitution Avenue curated by Alison Luchs  In the first exhibition dedicated to Venetian Renaissance sculptor Tullio Lombardo (c. 1455-1532), his romantic approach to portraiture is revealed in four of his greatest marble carvings, which are joined by eight related works from his closest circle. On view at the National Gallery of Art’s Italian galleries in the West Building from July 4 through November 1, 2009, An Antiquity of Imagination: Tullio Lombardo and Venetian High Renaissance Sculpture celebrates the artist’s pioneering talent.  The exhibition is sponsored by The Exhibition Circle of the National Gallery of Art. A fully illustrated exhibition catalogue includes scholarly essays by Luchs; Adriana Augusti, director of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro, Venice; Matteo Ceriana, deputy director of the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan; Sarah Blake McHam, professor of art history at Rutgers University; Debra Pincus, independent scholar; and Alessandra Sarchi, research project manager at the Fondazione Federico Zeri, Università di Bologna. Published with Yale University Press, the catalogue is 160 pages with 62 color and 23 black-and-white illustrations and will be available in July 2009 from the Gallery Shops for $60 (hardcover).
Tullio and his younger brother Antonio, both gifted sculptors, worked with their father Pietro Lombardo in the family firm, a leading force in architecture and sculpture in Venice well into the 16th century. While traditional demand for sculpture in Renaissance Venice centered on projects for churches, public monuments, and architectural decoration, Tullio created new forms of private art.  The exhibition presents other close-up bust-length images, in relief and in the round, that display Tullio’s sensuous and expressive qualities. They include his own soulful, curly haired Relief Bust of a Youth (c.1505) as well as Simone Bianco’s Bust of a Woman (c.1515/1520), in a pleated gown that falls suggestively open, and Antonio Minello’s Grieving Heroine (1520s), a delicate miniature bust with elaborately bound and loosened hair winding over her bare shoulders.  (imagination)

Performance 1 Identity and Straging Strategies

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 12 maggio 2009

performanceWien until 10/6/2009 Fotogalerie Wien Wahringer Str. 59  The title of this exhibition series refers to the complex relationships between performance and image: the ephemeral quality of performance in its form as a sequence of actions as it relates to the capturing of performance in representational media such as photography and video. In contrast to traditional perspectives that define performance as the simultaneous presence of both artist and viewer in one space and time, the three exhibitions primarily present performances produced for the camera, or performative installations. As a result, the opportunity for alternative responses to performance is made possible.  In the performative installation from the artist collective from Berlin and London, Artists Anonymous, images and words dealing with themes of violence, excess, the victim, the perpetrator, private, public, psycho-strip via television, and the crime scene in the living room fuse into a performance. The artists attempt to break new ground in performance not only by intertwining video and installation, but also by other technical means: The negative image, an essential aspect of their performances, is only possible with video and photography.
The ten monitors used in Miriam Bajtala’s video installation, ich und andere leuchten, function as sources of illumination – the screens display various models of lamps and the artist herself, who turns into these lamps. Peter Dressler’s picture story Business Class depicts unconventional actions in a hotel room: Judith Huemer’s video installations offer various approaches to understanding how language limits and controls individual identity. Johanna Kirsch’s video No Track Walk 1.0 emerged from a five-day hiking experiment, in which the artist attempted to avoid all marked paths. In three of Michaela Moscouw’s videos, Candy, store storage storten and tülfüle, viewers observe the artist as she builds a washing machine out of cardboard, as she creates a kind of photogram with tulle and earth on the surface of an icy riverbank, and as she destroys a photogram while loudly proclaiming a monolog. Nina Rike Springer’s animations, such as Tanzgrafik and Springschnur Springer, show actions that appear absurdly unreal and familiar all at the same time. (Image performance)
