QIAGEN’s New QIAstat-Dx Gastrointestinal Panel Demonstrates Excellent Performance in Multicenter Clinical Study in Europe

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 18 agosto 2019

QIAGEN (NYSE: QGEN; Frankfurt Prime Standard: QIA) today announced the publication of a multicenter clinical study demonstrating the accuracy of its QIAstat-Dx syndromic testing solution for diagnosing the causes of acute gastroenteritis. The QIAstat-Dx Gastrointestinal Panel delivered high performance compared to other, existing multiplex tests in this study which evaluated 385 patient samples at university hospital laboratories across Europe. The study showed the QIAstat-Dx Gastrointestinal Panel was highly sensitive (98.2% positive percent agreement, a measure of ability to detect pathogens) and specific (99.9% negative percent agreement, a measure of ability to identify true negative samples). Multiple pathogens were identified in nearly one-third of the patient samples that tested positive. Authors emphasized the system’s “ease of use” and that the system and assay yielded results in approximately one hour. The study also cited the ability of the QIAstat-Dx panel to provide cycle threshold (CT) values and amplification curves, quantitative indications of the amount of nucleic acids detected, as a unique advantage in interpreting diagnostic findings for gastrointestinal syndromes, which can be complicated by co-infections or false positives in testing. These are important capabilities which other currently widely used syndromic platforms do not offer. The article, “Multicenter evaluation of the new QIAstat Gastrointestinal Panel for the rapid syndromic testing of acute gastroenteritis,” has been accepted for publication by the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (EJCMID) and is available online. The study was conducted at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre in Denmark and University Hospital of Bonn in Germany.
Introduced in Europe in early 2018 and the United States in mid-2019, the QIAstat-Dx system enables fast, cost-effective and easy-to-use syndromic testing with novel Sample to Insight solutions. The QIAstat-Dx Gastrointestinal Panel provides differential detection of more than 20 bacterial, viral and parasitic pathogens implicated in gut infections. The panel is already available in Europe. The QIAstat-Dx Respiratory Panel, for detection of more than 20 common viral and bacterial infections in respiratory syndromes, is currently available in Europe and the United States.QIAGEN is developing a broad pipeline of planned assays for the QIAstat-Dx content menu, spanning infectious diseases, oncology, companion diagnostics and other disease areas.

QIAGEN supports World TB Day with major innovations in the fight against latent tuberculosis

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 27 marzo 2019

QIAGEN N.V. (NYSE: QGEN; Frankfurt Prime Standard: QIA) recognized the annual World TB Day 2019 held on March 24 by highlighting its growing global commitment to preventive screening and treatment for latent tuberculosis (TB) infection, a widespread condition that can lead to active TB disease in vulnerable patients.QIAGEN is investing in several areas regarding ease of use, throughput, screening efficiency and test availability for QuantiFERON-TB worldwide:In late 2018 QIAGEN and DiaSorin launched a CE-marked read-out kit for QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus for use on DiaSorin’s widely used LIAISON platforms. The rollout of QFT-Plus as part of DiaSorin’s broad menu of tests on more than 7,000 LIAISON instruments in hospitals and laboratories around the world adds an efficient automated solution for TB screening programs. Availability of QFT-Plus read-out kits for use on LIAISON platforms is expected in 2019 in the United States and in 2020 in China.
QIAGEN has partnered with Hamilton Robotics and Tecan for single tube-handling solutions to offer high-efficiency automation of preanalytical processing steps.
In early 2019 QIAGEN announced plans to develop a novel and proprietary solution, QuantiFERON-TB Access (QFT® Access) that is dedicated and tailored to the needs of low-resource regions with a high disease burden of TB. QFT Access is designed to pair ultrasensitive digital detection of latent TB infection with a complete workflow created with a focus on cost efficiency and ease of use. QIAGEN is developing QFT Access in a new partnership with Ellume, an Australian developer of digitally enabled diagnostics. Clinical trials for QFT Access are planned to start in 2019, and commercialization is expected to begin in 2020.

QIAGEN Launches Novel RNA-Seq Library Preparation Solutions for Next-Generation Sequencing

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 13 ottobre 2018

QIAGEN N.V. (NYSE: QGEN; Frankfurt Prime Standard: QIA) today announced the launch of a breakthrough technology enabling faster, simpler library preparation for RNA sequencing. A key element of this portfolio is the QIAseq FastSelectRNA Removal Kit which provides a novel solution for scientists to target RNA types that are irrelevant to their research and remove them from RNA-seq libraries for next-generation sequencing (NGS). The global market size for library preparation kits for RNA-seq is believed to be about $400 million.
In addition to a highly competitive and differentiated line of RNA-seq solutions, several other QIAGEN solutions for accurate, efficient NGS will be showcased at ASHG 2018, the conference of the American Society of Human Genetics from October 16-20 in San Diego. In addition, more than 15 studies relying upon QIAseq solutions, the GeneReader NGS System and other QIAGEN Sample to Insight products will be presented in ASHG 2018 scientific sessions, demonstrating the unique positioning of QIAGEN in this rapidly growing market of next generation sequencing.
“The QIAseq FastSelect RNA Removal Kit allows rapid selective removal of RNA classes from any sample, even the most difficult FFPE samples, enabling researchers to attain high quality, reproducible RNA sequencing results while at the same time minimizing time requirements and cost. The QIAseq Fastselect RNA kit can accomplish in one simple workflow step what current RNA sequencing library preparation solutions achieve in over 30 steps. By using a range of proprietary, novel technologies, the QIAseq FastSelect RNA Removal kit therefore radically simplifies and speeds up RNA removal. Off-the-shelf options include rRNA or globin mRNA removal, while custom RNA removal solutions for selected transcripts can be designed by QIAGEN,” said Dr. Thomas Schweins, Senior Vice President of QIAGEN’s Life Sciences Business Area.
