Samsung Smart Learning e la guida dedicata ai docenti per gestire al meglio le lezioni da remoto

Nel contesto attuale, che ha portato alla chiusura prolungata delle scuole di tutta Italia per far fronte alla diffusione del Coronavirus (Covid-19) nel nostro paese, Samsung Electronics Italia, azienda che da sempre si dedica allo sviluppo di progetti nell’ambito dell’istruzione digitale dei giovani, prosegue nel suo impegno nei confronti degli studenti e degli insegnanti del nostro paese, attraverso il progetto Samsung Smart Learning, che si concretizza anche con la creazione del Samsung Smart Learning Kit, un utile strumento per la gestione ottimale della didattica a distanza, che sarà distribuito nei prossimi giorni a oltre 60.000 docenti, di ogni ordine e grado, in tutta Italia, e che viene messo a disposizione di tutti gli insegnanti attraverso il sito di Samsung.
Samsung Smart Learning si rivolge a ogni scuola per far vivere agli studenti un momento di socialità e un’esperienza didattica formativa e per supportare gli insegnanti a trovare modalità alternative per fare didattica in questo momento.Il kit per la didattica a distanza di Samsung è una guida al distance learning completa di sezioni dedicate alle varie fasi e attività di apprendimento da remoto; il kit include sette capitoli diversi nei quali il docente è accompagnato in un percorso che spiega in maniera semplice e diretta come organizzare le fasi preliminari del distance learning con un piano didattico ad hoc per le lezioni online, quali strumenti adottare per avviare una lezione in rete, come gestire al meglio le lezioni frontali e quelle interattive e come organizzare il lavoro dedicato agli esercizi e le interrogazioni. La guida si chiude con un capitolo interamente dedicato alla gestione delle attività di smart learning per i bambini più piccoli.

Samsung e MIUR LetsApp – Solve for Tomorrow Edition

La nuova edizione di LetsApp è un progetto parte del laboratorio creativo studentesco “IoStudioLAB”, avviato da “IoStudio – la Carta dello Studente”, e punta a valorizzare i lavori di gruppo e stimolare maggiormente il pensiero critico e la creatività degli studenti. “Solve for Tomorrow”, traducibile con «soluzioni per il domani», sottolinea l’obiettivo principale dell’iniziativa di quest’anno, ovvero provare a rispondere alle sfide di oggi per cercare di migliorare il domani. In particolare, la terza edizione di LetsApp si propone di avvicinare gli studenti alle discipline STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) e di aiutarli a sviluppare l’attitudine creativa a risolvere problemi incoraggiandoli a elaborare, grazie alla tecnologia, idee e soluzioni che affrontino questioni sociali che li coinvolgono direttamente.
La partecipazione al programma è anche un’occasione per acquisire competenze e maggiore consapevolezza delle proprie attitudini, grazie al confronto con i concetti di progettualità e di learn by doing. Parte integrante della formazione sono le cosiddette “Soft Skills”, competenze trasversali essenziali per un inserimento efficace nel mondo del lavoro, sempre più apprezzate e richieste perché consentono alle aziende di avere risorse in grado di adattarsi con flessibilità e velocità ai cambiamenti del mercato. Obiettivo non secondario del progetto è quello di fornire agli studenti delle conoscenze di base sull’imprenditorialità, sul marketing e sulla comunicazione e di offrire una panoramica su come la tecnologia produca innovazione creativa. Come per la scorsa edizione verranno coinvolti maggiormente anche gli insegnanti attraverso un’apposita area dedicata in modo da poter approfondire gli argomenti anche durante le normali ore di lezione.
Anche per l’edizione 2019-20, LetsApp si concretizzerà in un programma di mentoring e avvicinamento alle nuove tecnologie dedicato agli studenti italiani i quali, attraverso una piattaforma di e-learning, hanno la possibilità di acquisire competenze utili a realizzare un progetto digitale comprensivo di sito web o di un’applicazione per sistemi operativi Android. LetsApp offrirà anche a coloro che non hanno specifiche competenze tecniche la possibilità di cimentarsi in una sfida creativa in un contesto stimolante e altamente qualificante.Diviso in 4 fasi, il corso è strutturato in 7 diversi moduli – per una durata totale di circa 25 ore – che alternano nozioni teoriche a demo pratiche; ogni modulo si conclude con un test.Tutti gli studenti che completeranno con successo il corso riceveranno un certificato di frequenza, che potrà essere utilizzato per il riconoscimento dei relativi crediti formativi da parte del Consiglio di classe.Al termine del percorso formativo gli studenti verranno invitati a costituire dei gruppi di lavoro composti da un minimo di 2 e fino ad un massimo di 5 studenti – coordinati da un docente-tutor – per applicare le nozioni acquisite durante il percorso e sviluppare una soluzione a un problema comunitario, raccontarlo attraverso un video e partecipare a un hackathon, previsto per maggio 2020.
Il gruppo vincitore dell’hackathon finale verrà accompagnato in un viaggio a Dubai entro il mese di dicembre 2020 in occasione di Expo 2020 dove riceverà ulteriori 5 giorni di formazione incentrati sul tema dell’Esposizione Universale «Connecting Minds, Creating the Future», declinato sui sotto-temi sostenibilità, mobilità e opportunità.Le scuole dei 9 migliori progetti riceveranno da parte del MIUR e di Samsung un attestato di eccellenza per la qualità dei progetti ideati e realizzati dai propri studenti. I docenti tutor dei gruppi vincitori riceveranno uno specifico attestato di premialità per il supporto fornito al lavoro svolto.

Samsung Receiving Industry’s First Global Recognition for Environmental Sustainability of its Semiconductor Solutions

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced memory technology, announced that its 512-gigabyte (GB) embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) 3.0 will be awarded Carbon Footprint and Water Footprint Certifications from the highly respected UK-based Carbon Trust during a ceremony at the British Embassy in Seoul, Korea later today. Samsung’s 512GB eUFS 3.0 is the first mobile memory in the industry to be recognized by an international certifying organization, which was made possible through the company’s extensive efforts to reduce carbon and water footprints.
The Carbon Trust is a globally accredited non-profit certification body established by the British government to accelerate the move to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. Each certification by the Carbon Trust was made after thorough assessment of the environmental impact of carbon emissions and water usage before and throughout the production cycle, based on international standards.

Samsung e MIUR presentano LetsApp – Solve for Tomorrow Edition

Il nuovo progetto si inserisce nell’ambito delle finalità del Protocollo d’Intesa, sottoscritto in data 1 maggio 2019, tra il MIUR e Samsung Electronics Italia per la realizzazione di azioni a supporto dell’innovazione digitale nella scuola italiana, che, tra le altre, individua proprio quella di avvicinare gli studenti al mondo dell’imprenditorialità ed alimentarne lo spirito d’iniziativa. 300 Schools Advance in Samsung’s National STEM Competition

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced the 300 State Finalists in the annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, a $3 million nationwide competition that challenges students to creatively use STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to address a community challenge. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this 2019-2020 school year, the competition fosters critical thinking and creative problem solving skills among thousands of students across the country as 6-12 grade classrooms are tasked with solving a challenge impacting their community.This year, teachers nationwide submitted creative and strategic proposals to solve current problems, such as environmental issues, reducing the carbon footprint, mental health, vaping and student safety. Throughout the next month, each of the 300 State Finalists will engage their community and conduct field visits to gain firsthand knowledge of the issue, evolving their initial proposals into a detailed project plan to be executed this school year.
Selected from a pool of more than 2,000 entries nationwide, the 300 State Finalists will each receive a Samsung tablet for their classroom. Each State Finalist also has the opportunity to advance through future phases of the contest to win additional prizes and educational opportunities. The remaining phases of the competition include:
100 State Winner schools will advance in the contest and receive $15,000 in technology and classroom materials as well as a video kit to help showcase their project. 20 National Finalist schools will be selected to travel to the pitch event in the spring where they will present their project to a panel of judges. For achieving National Finalist status, schools will receive $50,000 in technology and classroom materials. Five National Grand Prize-winning schools will receive $100,000 in technology and classroom materials, and a trip to Washington, D.C. to present their projects to members of Congress. Public voting will also determine one Community Choice winner from the pool of National Finalists, who will be eligible to win an additional $10,000 in Samsung technology.
In celebration of the 10th year of Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung expanded the program to award more schools and provide more resources – including increasing the prize pool by $1 million. Previously, the contest awarded 250 State Finalists – five schools from each state. This year, 50 additional schools have been named State Finalists, with at least five schools recognized as State Finalists in each state.Schools from across the U.S., from Alaska to Florida, answered the call for submissions in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, including submissions from several academies for young women as well as a specialty school for the deaf and blind. Since its inception in 2010, the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest has awarded $15 million in Samsung technology and classroom materials to more than 2,200 public schools in the United States.

Samsung Electronics Develops Industry’s First 12-Layer 3D-TSV Chip Packaging Technology

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that it has developed the industry’s first 12-layer 3D-TSV (Through Silicon Via) technology. Samsung’s new innovation is considered one of the most challenging packaging technologies for mass production of high-performance chips, as it requires pinpoint accuracy to vertically interconnect 12 DRAM chips through a three-dimensional configuration of more than 60,000 TSV holes, each of which is one-twentieth the thickness of a single strand of human hair.The thickness of the package (720㎛) remains the same as current 8-layer High Bandwidth Memory-2 (HBM2) products, which is a substantial advancement in component design. This will help customers release next-generation, high-capacity products with higher performance capacity without having to change their system configuration designs.In addition, the 3D packaging technology also features a shorter data transmission time between chips than the currently existing wire bonding technology, resulting in significantly faster speed and lower power consumption.“Packaging technology that secures all of the intricacies of ultra-performance memory is becoming tremendously important, with the wide variety of new-age applications, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and High Power Computing (HPC),” said Hong-Joo Baek, executive vice president of TSP (Test & System Package) at Samsung Electronics. “As Moore’s law scaling reaches its limit, the role of 3D-TSV technology is expected to become even more critical. We want to be at the forefront of this state-of-the-art chip packaging technology.”Relying on its 12-layer 3D-TSV technology, Samsung will offer the highest DRAM performance for applications that are data-intensive and extremely high-speed.Also, by increasing the number of stacked layers from eight to 12, Samsung will soon be able to mass produce 24-gigabyte (GB)* High Bandwidth Memory, which provides three times the capacity of 8GB high bandwidth memory on the market today.Samsung will be able to meet the rapidly growing market demand for high-capacity HBM solutions with its cutting-edge 12-layer 3D TSV technology and it hopes to solidify its leadership in the premium semiconductor market.

Samsung Takes Mobile Photography to the Next Level with Industry’s

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today introduced 108 megapixel (Mp) Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX, the first mobile image sensor in the industry to go beyond 100 million pixels. With the latest addition, Samsung will expand its 0.8μm image sensor offerings from its recently announced ultra-high 64Mp to 108Mp, a resolution equivalent to that of a high-end DSLR camera. Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX is a one-of-a-kind mobile image sensor and is the result of close collaboration between Xiaomi Corp. and Samsung.
With over 100 million effective pixels enabling extremely sharp photographs rich in detail, the ISOCELL Bright HMX also produces exceptional photos even in extreme lighting conditions. Being the first mobile image sensor to adopt a large 1/1.33-inch size, the HMX can absorb more light in low-lit settings than smaller sensors and its pixel-merging Tetracell technology allows the sensor to imitate big-pixel sensors, producing brighter 27Mp images. In bright environments, the Smart-ISO, a mechanism that intelligently selects the level of amplifier gains according to the illumination of the environment for optimal light-to-electric signal conversion, switches to a low ISO to improve pixel saturation and produce vivid photographs. The mechanism uses a high ISO in darker settings that helps reduce noise, resulting in clearer pictures. For advanced filming, the HMX supports video recording without losses in field-of-view at resolutions up to 6K (6016 x 3384) 30-frames-per-second (fps).

Samsung Bioepis’ First Oncology Medicine in the United States

Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved ONTRUZANT® (trastuzumab-dttb), a biosimilar referencing HERCEPTIN® 1 (trastuzumab), across all eligible indications, namely adjuvant treatment of HER2-overexpressing breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer and metastatic gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma in patients who have not received prior treatment for metastatic disease. Samsung Selected To Supply 5G NR Solution by SK Telecom

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today that it has been selected by SK Telecom to supply the company with 5G solutions, including core and RAN, compliant to 5G New Radio (NR) standard based on 3GPP Release 15. Samsung and SK Telecom will begin 5G commercial deployments in October 2018 using Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture. NSA uses legacy 4G LTE network for mobility control, and transmits gigabit speed data traffic through both 4G and 5G networks. “Samsung has been at the forefront of commercializing each iteration of mobile network technology, from 2G through to 5G with our advanced technology leadership,” said Youngky Kim, President and Head of the Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to partner with SK Telecom and to be part of its innovative journey to accelerate the real-world 5G commercial service.” “SK Telecom and Samsung have been working closely to provide the highest quality user experience for consumers,” said JongRyeol Kang, EVP, ICT Infra Center, at SK Telecom. “Today, 5G is already a reality for SK Telecom as we move forward to create the best mobile 5G network and offer brand new experiences to our customers.”Since 2014, Samsung and SK Telecom have been jointly exploring and studying the potential of 5G to create ideal commercial scenarios using both 3.5GHz and 28GHz. Samsung Debuts “Connected” Pop-Up Store Solution for Retailers

SamsungAt the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) BIG Show 2018, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is spotlighting several new solutions to help retailers harness the power of data to design and deliver an enhanced, more intelligent customer experience. Central to this year’s introductions at Samsung’s NRF booth (#1862) is Samsung Connected Spaces, an all-in-one Pop-Up store solution that gives brick-and-mortar retailers a platform to create a Pop-Up store infused with data collection and analysis capabilities.Pop-Up stores let retailers activate short-term physical retail opportunities, such as seasonal trends or product launches. Samsung Connected Spaces delivers an Internet of Things (IoT)-ready solution that provides retailers with data and insight on key store factors – including customer traffic, dwell time, and demographics (age & gender) – that can be measured for specific times and areas in a store.This enables retailers to better understand the customer journey from entrance to purchase, and use the information for Pop-Up store layout, product placement, staff scheduling and inventory management. According to Forrester Research, in 2017, 47% of surveyed commerce technology influencers are continuing or increasing investments in in-store analytics.[1]

Samsung Kicks off U.S. Production of Premium Home Appliances

Samsung celebrates the ribbon cuttingSamsung Electronics America, Inc. announced the start of commercial production at its first U.S. based home appliance manufacturing facility in Newberry County, South Carolina. Only six months after taking possession of the plant, Samsung employees have begun manufacturing ship-ready washing machines, producing the products’ washer cabinets, inner tubs and bases from blank steel. Hyun Suk Kim, President and Head of CE (Consumer Electronics) Division of Samsung Electronics visited the Newberry plant to celebrate the official launch of production, along with the CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, Tim Baxter, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (SC), U.S. Representative Ralph Norman (SC-05), and Ian Steff, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Manufacturing, U.S. Department of Commerce, and other state and local leaders.Samsung celebrates the ribbon cutting of the first commercial washers being produced at the Newberry,
The start of commercial production comes just six months after Samsung announced the company would open a new state-of-the-art home appliance manufacturing plant in Newberry County, South Carolina. Since then, Samsung has transformed the site with the help of more than 800 full-time and contract workers, adding 151,000 square feet and installing two manufacturing and assembly lines with 20 presses and 30 injection molding machines. The two assembly lines combine Samsung’s made-in-house components with supplied modules, then package those products for shipment to U.S. consumers. Samsung plans to produce one million washing machines at the Newberry County facility in 2018.
To celebrate this historic day, Samsung is donating ten of the inaugural South Carolina-made washing machines to two Newberry based non-profit organizations: Boys Farm and the Freedom and Hope Foundation. Boys Farm provides unique foster care services for boys, serving as a haven for boys experiencing difficult family situations. The Freedom and Hope Foundation provides fishing and hunting activities as recreational therapy for active and retired wounded military service members and children with life-threatening diseases. Samsung Unveils First Thunderbolt 3 QLED Curved Monitor at CES 2018

SamsungAt CES 2018, Samsung Electronics will expand the connectivity and performance capabilities of its signature curved display line-up with the debut of its new CJ791 monitor, the first curved monitor to feature Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. Designed for entertainment and business audiences, the 34-inch CJ791 model aligns single-source power and processing speed with an exceptional picture quality for a comfortable and productive user experience.
Through a single Thunderbolt 3 cable, CJ791 users can link and dock their monitor and laptop without extensive wiring. The Thunderbolt 3 connection provides processing speed of up to 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps) – a rate nearly four times faster than USB alternatives – allowing users to enjoy connectivity across a full ecosystem of docks, displays and peripheral devices including Macs, USB type-C laptops, and other desktop accessories like storage drives or external graphics cards. Samsung Starts Mass Production of Its 2nd Generation 10nm FinFET Process Technology

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that its Foundry Business has commenced mass production of System-on-Chip (SoC) products built on its second generation 10-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology, 10LPP (Low Power Plus).
10LPP process technology allows up to 10-percent higher performance or 15-percent lower power consumption compared to its first generation 10nm process technology, 10LPE (Low Power Early). As this process is derived from the already proven 10LPE technology, it offers competitive advantages by greatly reducing turn-around time from development to mass production and by providing significantly higher initial manufacturing yield.SoCs designed with 10LPP process technology will be used in digital devices scheduled to launch early next year and are expected to become more widely available throughout the year.“We will be able to better serve our customers through the migration from 10LPE to 10LPP with improved performance and higher initial yield,” said Ryan Lee, Vice President of Foundry Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung with its long-living 10nm process strategy will continue to work on the evolution of 10nm technology down to 8LPP to offer customers distinct competitive advantages for a wide range of applications.” Samsung also announced that its newest manufacturing line, S3, located in Hwaseong, Korea, is ready to ramp up production of process technologies including 10nm and below. S3 is the third fab of Samsung’s Foundry Business, following S1 in Giheung, Korea and S2 in Austin, USA. Samsung’s 7nm FinFET process technology with EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) will also be mass produced at S3.

Samsung Strengthens Advanced Foundry Portfolio With New 11nm LPP and 7nm LPP With EUV Technology

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced it has added 11-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology (11LPP, Low Power Plus) to its advanced foundry process portfolio, offering customers with an even wider range of options for their next-generation products.Through further scaling from the earlier 14LPP process, 11LPP delivers up to 15 percent higher performance and up to 10 percent chip area reduction with the same power consumption.In addition to the 10nm FinFET process for mobile processors in premium flagship smartphones, the company expects its 11nm process to bring differentiated value to mid- to high-end smartphones.The new process technology is scheduled to be ready for production in the first half of 2018.Samsung also confirmed that development of 7LPP with EUV (extreme ultra violet) lithography technology is on schedule, targeting its initial production in the second half of 2018.Since 2014, Samsung has processed close to 200,000 wafers with EUV lithography technology and, building on its experience, has recently seen visible results in process development such as achieving 80 percent yield for 256 megabit (Mb) SRAM (static random-access memory).“Samsung has added the 11nm process to our roadmap to offer advanced options for various applications,” said Ryan Lee, Vice President and Head of Foundry Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “Through this, Samsung has completed a comprehensive process roadmap spanning from 14nm to 11nm, 10nm, 8nm, and 7nm in the next three years.”Details of the recent update to Samsung’s foundry roadmap, including 11LPP availability and 7nm EUV development, will be elaborated at the Samsung Foundry Forum Japan on September 15, 2017, in Tokyo. La sfida di Huawei a Samsung ed Apple

appleNel mercato degli smartphone, Huawei è il brand che registra la maggiore crescita in termini di utenti (+413% in due anni) e lancia la sfida ai leader di mercato Samsung (al 37,5% della smartphone audience italiana) e Apple (18,7%). In Italia, a giugno 2017 il 74,4% dei possessori di telefoni cellulari possiede uno smartphone, dato questo che ha registrato una crescita progressiva se si osserva il medesimo nello stesso mese del 2015 (60%) e dello scorso anno (70%).Considerando la sola smartphone audience italiana, composta da 34 milioni di utenti, Android mantiene la leadership con il 73,5% (era al 69,7% nello stesso mese del 2016), seguito da Apple/iOS con una quota di mercato pari al 18,7% (nel 2016 al 17,9%).Il calo di Microsoft al 6,9% (era al 10,5% un anno fa) e la lenta scomparsa di altri sistemi operativi (tra cui BlackBerry), complessivamente intorno all’1%, bene illustrano la posizione di forza dei due leader del mercato, in particolare Android, che può anche beneficiare di una crescente fidelizzazione: degli utenti Android che intendono cambiare dispositivo solo l’11% ha dichiarato di voler passare a piattaforma iOS (erano 13,5% a giugno 2016), a fronte del 19.6% di utenti iOS pronti a fare il percorso inverso (contro il 15,3% di un anno fa).Dall’altro lato, la stessa Android si prepara ad accogliere gli utenti con dispositivi di vecchia generazione prossimi ad un upgrade, che nel 75% dei casi sceglierebbero proprio il sistema operativo di casa Google.Quote di mercato dei brand: Samsung ancora leader, Apple stabile e Huawei in crescita a tripla cifraPrendendo in considerazione la ripartizione delle quote di mercato dei singoli brand sulla smartphone audience italiana, Samsung detiene ancora il primato con il 37,5% (ma in calo rispetto al 41,9% di giugno 2016), seguito da Apple (18,7%), e Huawei con il 16,3% che raddoppia il numero di utenti dell’anno scorso, e registra un +413% su scala biennale. Samsung incorona la cucina a nuovo status symbol

Come rivelato da un report commissionato da Samsung questo fenomeno sta crescendo in tutta Europa, conferendo alla cucina un ruolo chiave nella socialità e intrattenimento domestico, e guidando un incremento significativo della spesa dei consumatori per cucine di lusso del valore di 20.000 euro e del numero delle ricerche effettuate per i modelli premium (+11%). L’evoluzione delle abitudini di consumo, che vede le persone sempre più attente al design e alla qualità, sta impattando in modo importante la sfera della cucina e il valore che viene assegnato a questo spazio domestico. Dalla ricerca di Samsung emerge infatti la tendenza a dare nuova enfasi a quest’area della casa, ridefinendone funzione e importanza nella vita quotidiana in direzione di maggiore informalità, estetica, intrattenimento, socialità e realizzazione personale.
