Alternative Behavior Strategies Receives Funding from Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 22 agosto 2019

Alternative Behavior Strategies (ABS), a leading provider of services to children with autism spectrum disorders, announced today it has received funding from private equity platform Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital along with Petra Capital Partners, investing in the next stage of ABS’ growth. The funding amount was not disclosed. Autism is one of the fastest growing developmental disorders. One in 40 children in the U.S. has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), according to the December 2018 issue of Pediatrics.i This is an increase from a study conducted in 2014 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that estimated about 1 in 59 children in the U.S. were identified with ASD.ii
ABS provides therapy which is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a successful evidence-based treatment for children with autism. Earlier this year, ABS rolled out its ABS Virtual Office, the first smart phone-based platform to connect autism behavioral therapists to the information and knowledge they need—wherever they are—to enhance services and promote clinical excellence and advancement. Because ABS therapists spend as much as 80 percent of their time in the field providing therapy, the platform gives them real-time access to electronic clinical records, as well as to the collective wisdom of the company while treating a child, when this information is most vital. This fall, ABS will open its first comprehensive community-based center to provide adapted playgrounds and intensive therapy in all day sessions, so that working parents can bring their children for the day. This center is based in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area, with additional centers planned for other regions.

New Sustainability Strategies Threaten Food Security

Posted by fidest press agency su lunedì, 30 aprile 2012

WWF 'Power the Future'

Melbourne, Australia – In a new report released today the pro-development NGO, World Growth, exposed the breathtaking ambition of the world’s largest environmental NGO, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), to control global supply chains of vital food products. WWF’s strategy threatens to restrict trade and business and undermines efforts to increase global food supplies. The report – “Abuse of Sustainability Standards – An Attack on Free Trade, Competition and Economic Growth,” shows how WWF and major global food corporations like Unilever are working together to capture markets and dictate food standards in developing countries, while limiting consumer choice in rich countries. World Growth Chairman and former Ambassador to the GATT (the predecessor to the World Trade Organization) Alan Oxley released the following statement:
“WWF is working with major global companies to seize control of global supply chains of vital food stuffs under the guise of improving the environment. As a result, farmers in rich and poor countries alike and consumers in rich countries face the prospect of higher prices and limited choice. At a time when global food production should be expanding to meet burgeoning global demand, this strategy will limit production.
“WWF has declared a new strategy – ‘Transforming Markets’ – to capture supply chains in key products such as timber and paper, palm oil, soy, fish, beef, dairy and sugar to force their sustainability standards onto farmers and restrict consumer choice. It is enlisting businesses which control key links in global supply chains as partners to demand suppliers meet these standards, including retailers like Wal-Mart and consumer goods manufacturers like Nestlé. “For 20 years WWF has tried, without success, to convince consumers to voluntarily buy only products which meet its sustainability standards. Now its strategy is to limit the choice for consumers and pressure retailers and manufacturers to demand farmers apply WWF Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards. Generally these standards override national environmental policies and impose limits on farming.“Industry executives like the CEO of Unilever, have reportedly conceded that the new products will be more expensive and that the increased costs will have to be borne by producers.“Environmental NGOs have pressed for years for sustainability screening of imports. A current example is an EU control on imports of biofuels. Now they seek to enlist major food producers and retailers as partners in strategies to control supply chains.“This is bad news all round. The result will be higher costs for producers in developing countries and higher prices for consumers in developed economies.”
World Growth is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established to expand the research, information, advocacy, and other resources to improve the economic conditions and living standards in developing and transitional countries. At World Growth, we embrace the age of globalization and the power of free trade to eradicate poverty and create jobs and opportunities. World Growth supports the production of palm oil and the use of forestry as a means to promote economic growth, reduce poverty and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. World Growth believes a robust cultivation of palm oil and forestry provides an effective means of environmental stewardship that can serve as the catalyst for increasing social and economic development. To Secure a Sustainable Mobility

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 18 giugno 2011

London. Public as well as private transport is of utter importance in order to be able to move people around quickly, easily and efficiently. As populations grow in urban areas and mega-cities develop, solutions need to be found to improve the daily journeys of commuters. For an efficient and sustainable future transport, strategies must be developed and implemented immediately. According to Frost & Sullivan, 75 per cent of people in the UK commute using a private transport facility. In London, this number falls to 35 per cent, while 56 per cent of Londoners need more than 45 minutes for their journey to work, even though they live within a distance of 10 miles. Government and corporate analysed challenges as well as opportunities the world of transport is facing during Frost & Sullivan’s “Urban Mobility 3.0” interactive workshop, which took place yesterday at the House of Lords. Journey times, lack of investment, and the commitment to zero emission emerged as the key issues which need to be solved. BMW’s Director of Project Mobility Services, Dr Bernhard Blattel, offered an interesting insight into the BMW value proposition with regard to sustainability, stating that the consumer needs to “enjoy their way”, and therefore use a particular service because they like it, not because they are forced to. As such, BMW is focusing on comfort and convenience in developing electric vehicles that satisfy this requirement, as well as removing the barriers between personal and public transport, with innovative car sharing schemes and connectivity. The future will need to see a joint effort between both public and private transport in order to develop practical and sustainable solutions. Either side cannot afford to progress individually. Dr Blattel concluded the discussion by saying: “As time runs out… …we need to use every lever we have to get towards sustainable transport solutions. …the future is more about a joint effort of these two means than having a battle between them”.

Percorsi di riconciliazione

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 18 dicembre 2009

Alice looks for a new strategy in defence logistics

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 24 settembre 2009

Amsterdam, This conference will take place in Amsterdam RAI, the Netherlands, on 1 and 2 October 2009. It is being organised by Europoint Conferences & Exhibitions based in the Dutch city of Zeist. This conference aims to serve as a strategic platform where best practices will be shared, strategies will be developed or adjusted and innovative achievements will be shared. This is expected to result in a cost reductive, safe and controllable strategy for managing complex defence logistic operations.Military operations are pre-eminently complicated logistic operations. For the defence sector these logistic issues are more current than ever. Complex international alliances and an increasingly critical society require a different approach of the logistic processes than the defence sector was used to. New ways of cooperation between government, industry and research are an important aspect in this matter. Shortly representatives of these sectors will meet to extensively discuss these issues and its challenges and opportunities. The platform where this will all happen is the international conference ALICE 2009, ‘the logistic burden of complex defence operations’. The delegates present will discuss the required strategic amendments in defence logistics and its consequences in terms of new or altered personnel skills, the role of IT and of performance based logistics. For instance as far as personnel issues are concerned, Mr. Walther Ploos van Amstel, senior advisor of the Dutch research institute TNO, will speak about the human factor in defence logistics. In particular he will deal with the required competences for future logistics leaders.
