Ingram Micro Supports the First David’s Locker for a Title I School

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 26 aprile 2019

Ingram Micro is proud to partner with the Johnson Family’s Mission 31 Foundation, founded by Arizona Cardinals Running Back David Johnson and his wife, Meghan, to expand the David’s Locker program into Title I schools. Emerson Elementary School in Phoenix received the first of these Lockers at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday.
Each David’s Locker provides access to electronics and tech tools that offer a portal for communication, educational resources. The Locker for Emerson included iPads and headphones donated through Ingram Micro’s ongoing partnership with the Mission 31 Foundation.
David’s Lockers are the signature community outreach program of the Johnson Family’s Mission 31 Foundation. Beginning in October 2017, the Foundation initially focused on providing opportunities, support and resources to children undergoing treatment for serious and life-threatening illnesses and their families. The first David’s Locker was deployed on an isolation floor at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in April 2018, followed in September by a second Locker for Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa.“Ingram Micro and I were initially inspired to get involved with the Mission 31 Foundation because of the clear need for support services for children facing long hospital stays or undergoing difficult treatments,” said Todd Zegers, vice president, ITAD, Commerce & Lifecycle Services. “Providing technology to Title I schools is a natural expansion of the program, and we were proud to donate both iPads and V7 headphones for the David’s Locker at Emerson Elementary, which serves students struggling with physical or mental handicaps. We’re committed to ongoing donations of electronics and financial resources to expand Mission 31 Foundation services throughout the Phoenix area.”

IFC Event Supports Financial Technology (FinTech) Startups in Turkey

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 23 giugno 2016

istanbulIstanbul, Turkey. IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, hosted today a roundtable for senior finance industry executives, as part of an effort to expand financing for startups and boost innovation in Turkey. The gathering brought together representatives from IFC, the Istanbul Borsa, Turkey’s leading banks, and Girisim Fabrikasi, an accelerator program at Ozyegin University. Participants discussed the impact of fintech on traditional banking models and also explored ways they could channel more financing to fintech startups, which often struggle to get the loans that are so vital to their growth. The roundtable was followed by the Innovation Marketplace, where 12 promising financial technology startups pitched their ideas to potential corporate partners.“Start-ups not only develop the national economy but they also play a vital role for corporates which are seeking continuous innovation,” says Ihsan Elgin, the founding director of Ozyegin University Girisim Fabrikasi and co-founder of FinTech Istanbul. “We are hoping that the Innovation Marketplace becomes the first step of collaboration between the startups and corporates that attended the event.” The Innovation Marketplace focused on technology that would make banking more accessible to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the backbone of Turkey’s economy.“With rising wages, low-value added manufacturing in Turkey is losing competitiveness, leaving technology upgrading and innovation as critical avenues for growth.” said Aisha Williams, IFC Country Manager for Turkey. “Events like this support Turkey’s natural entrepreneurial spirt and promote private sector development by providing the resources, know-how, and training to encourage new business development opportunities for Turkish companies.” The roundtable and marketplace are part of an effort by IFC to promote innovation, encourage the development of SMEs and spur job creation. IFC has focused especially on financial technology. A potentially revolutionary field, which includes services like mobile banking, financial technology helps extend services to SMEs, which may not have access to conventional banking systems and loans. Globally, access to finance remains number one challenge for SMEs and IFC has invested over $160 million in equity and debt in early and growth stage financial technology companies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America since 2010.This was IFC’s second annual Innovation Marketplace in Turkey, an effort to match entreprenuers with established coporates. Last year’s IFC Innovation Marketplace focused on healthcare, smart energy, and industrial data management, resulting in two new partnerships between the start-ups and corporates that attended the event.

The World Bank Supports Russia’s Government

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 9 dicembre 2010

Washington, The World Bank Board of Executive Directors today approved a US$ 25 million loan for the Financial Education and Financial Literacy Project for the Russian Federation. This innovative Project will assist the Russian Government in its continued efforts to improve the financial literacy of Russian citizens and their protection as financial consumers. Rather than higher income households and more sophisticated financial products and services, the target group for the Project is the public-at-large, with an emphasis on school and college students, future consumers of financial services, and potentially active low- and middle-income consumers of basic financial services. The Project will establish access to critical financial information presented in a simple manner and with extensive use of the modern technologies, and will help people in making informed decisions regarding personal finance and protecting their rights on the financial market place. The Project would be implemented by both the national and regional governments. The global financial crisis had triggered demand for better public information and services to consumers all around the world. The Russia initiative in spearheading a systemic approach to create capacity for financial education and financial consumer protection would offer valuable lessons, especially to developing countries.
Financial literacy is the ability to make informed decisions about the use and management of one’s financial resources. Financial education is a process to help financial consumers improve their understanding of financial products and concepts, and by obtaining information, instruction and/or objective advice, develop their skills and confidence to become more aware of financial risks and opportunities, make informed choices, know where to go for help, and take other effective actions to improve their financial well-being. Thereby, development and implementation of educational programs and public information campaigns, and the scaling up of on-going Government initiatives to foster financial literacy of the Russian citizens, at both national and regional levels, comprise the core of the Project.
The Project builds on extensive diagnostic work in Russia on consumer financial protection and a financial literacy survey, which in turn draw on comparative experience in OECD countries. It also builds on a solid track record of lending to the education sector in Russia. Nevertheless, as many of the activities are innovative, the Project design incorporates a phased approach with initial pilots, frequent surveys, and wider dissemination of the successful practices.
Total financing of the Project is US$ 113 million, of which the Government of the Russian Federation co-finances US$ 88 million from its own resources. The IBRD will provide a US$ 25 million flexible loan with an interest rate equal to 6 months Libor, plus variable spread, with final maturity of 14 years including a grace period of 5 years.
