SB 708 Makes Early Learning Classrooms in Texas Safer for All Children

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 21 giugno 2019

Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently signed SB 708 into law. The Child Safety Data for Licensed Centers Study bill will begin a study into children’s safety in at-home and group childcare with potential to lead to a statewide change in teacher-to-student ratios. SB 708 is the result of nearly five years’ worth of advocacy efforts by early childhood education providers, including KinderCare Education (KCE), the nation’s largest private provider of early childhood education and care. “We wholeheartedly support SB 708 and believe it will ultimately help make early learning classrooms in Texas safer for children and help teachers be more effective at educating children,” said Tom Wyatt, KCE CEO. “At KinderCare Education, we believe all children should have access to high-quality education and care, regardless of their background and financial circumstance. This bill has the potential to impact the lives and safety of children across the state, including the more than 8,500 children in our 96 licensed centers in Texas.” SB 708 will form a committee to review and analyze child safety data from at-home and group childcare centers. Those results have potential to bring Texas childcare ratios in line with nationally accepted levels.

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 31 ottobre 2018

2019 Ram 1500 Named Truck of Texas

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 18 ottobre 2018

After two days of evaluations, journalist members of the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) selected the 2019 Ram 1500 as Truck of Texas. The award was presented Oct. 16 at the culmination of the Texas Truck Rodeo, presented by the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), in which 69 journalists drove 57 vehicles and voted on winners across a range of consumer categories. In addition to the Ram 1500 winning the overall prize, the 2019 Maserati Levante GTS won SUV of Texas and 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio took home CUV of Texas. Complete results from the voting are listed below.“TAWA journalists know their trucks, and they picked the new Ram as the clear winner,” said Michael Marrs, TAWA president. “Our members said the truck performed well even in challenging weather conditions during the Hill Country floods this year. It was also noteworthy that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles swept all the overall awards at this year’s competition.”After a morning of off-road driving on Monday, torrential rain and safety concerns forced the remainder of the event to move to on-road evaluations. Still, journalists said they enjoyed their brief time driving four-wheel-drive vehicles on slippery Texas hills and through deep mud — conditions that challenge even the best 4x4s and uncover strengths and weaknesses of off-road products. At the end of the event, journalists judged each of the vehicles in five criteria: Interior, Exterior, Performance, Value and Personal Appeal. In addition to SMDI’s title sponsorship, other sponsors of the 2019 Texas Truck Rodeo included LINE-X Protective Coatings, Saddleback Leather Company, Katzkin Automotive Leather, the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show, DFW Auto Show, Houston Auto Show, AutomotiveTouchup and Wieck.

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 21 settembre 2016

Colombia’s Port Santa Marta to Purchase Port Corpus Christi’s Refrigerated Warehouse

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 30 gennaio 2015

AerialCorpusChristi TX, USA – Port Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the sale of the refrigerated warehouse to Port Santa Marta, Colombia in a special port commission meeting held Tuesday, January 26, 2015.
In support of the alignment and construction of a new Harbor Bridge the port committed to remove the Refrigerated warehouse. On August 12, 2014, the Port Commission approved a Resolution designating the Refrigerated Warehouse Facility and associated furniture, fixtures, and equipment currently located at Cargo Dock 10 as surplus property. Furthermore, the resolution authorized staff to prepare bid specifications and to advertise the sale of the Refrigerated Warehouse Facility in accordance with the applicable Texas Municipal Code.
On January 13, 2015, we received two responses to the Notice to Bidders. Texas Descon, LLC, a Texas based firm representing the Port of Santa Marta in Colombia, submitted the highest and best bid in the amount of $410,000. The Port of Santa Marta intends to disassemble the facility, ship the components to Colombia, and re-assemble the building and equipment to support operations at their location. In addition to their bid, Texas Descon submitted an executed Bill of Sale.”We have a sister port relationship with our friends from Port Santa Marta. We have to give up the cold storage facility to support the new path of the New Harbor Bridge but Port Commissioners and staff are glad to know that the refrigerated warehouse will have a great home at Port Santa Marta,” said Judy Hawley, Chair Port Commission.Mauricio Suárez Ramírez, CEO of the port of Santa Marta commented, “This news is historic for the our country’s international trade and infrastructure. Colombia handles large flows of refrigerated cargo, but it did not have a port with refrigerated warehouses for such purpose, therefore we are betting on commercial products strengthening both imports and exports offering more efficient services, with competitive prices.” Port Santa Marta’s CEO continues; “In honor of a sister port agreement with our friends of the Port of Corpus Christi and we will tribute it with our commitment to baptize the cold storage with this name.
As the primary economic engine of the Coastal Bend, Port Corpus Christi is the 5th largest port in the United States in total tonnage. The Port’s mission statement is to “serve as a regional economic development catalyst while protecting and enhancing its existing industrial base and simultaneously working to diversify its international maritime cargo business.” Strategically located on the western Gulf of Mexico, with a straight, 45’ deep channel, the Port provides quick access to the Gulf and the entire United States inland waterway system.

Uranium Mining Company’s Production Continues to Grow

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 16 settembre 2011

1 Uranium ore - the principal raw material of ...

Image via Wikipedia

Late last year, Corpus Christi-based Uranium Energy Corp made a significant transition from uranium exploration company to uranium producer. Since the company began production at its South Texas facility in November 2010, it has produced over 120,000 pounds of uranium at a cost of about $15 per pound. In each successive quarter since November, production has more than doubled while production costs have declined. In recent months, some have questioned the future of the uranium market. But according to a report that was just issued by Agora Financial’s Outstanding Investments, this market is set to increase in value for investors—and UEC, the industry’s newest producer, is set to take full advantage of it. “The bottom line is that UEC is technically competent and well managed,” Outstanding Investments says. “It’s got great assets in Texas, the U.S. Southwest and overseas…despite the market gyrations, we have a great uranium play that fits into the present and future uranium story. [We] can’t say what the broad stock market is going to do, but the current troubles have handed us a great company at a deep discount.” What else is working in UEC’s advantage? According to the report, “The three key ingredients of a successful mining project are people, people and people. And it’s safe to say that UEC has people. UEC is the product of a sharp guy, [CEO] Amir Adnani, with whom [we’ve] had some great discussions over the past couple of years.” UEC’s most recent operating results, the report says, show an aggregate production at an average cost of about $15 per pound. By comparison, one industry giant has average production costs of over $32 per pound, while it costs another over $50 to deliver each pound. So even in the tightest of markets for uranium, says the report, UEC has a dramatic cost advantage over the competition. “The share price is simply not reflective of the value here, and in [our] view, this company is selling in the bargain-basement range…the share price is down while the stock has strong trading volume and a solid set of market makers,” the report continues. “Based on the company’s fundamentals, [we] believe that UEC is poised for a strong rebound when the markets settle down. There are handsome gains to be made here.”www.uraniumenergy.com
