Toronto (Canada) Un altro grande passo verso i mercati d’oltreoceano.

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 2 febbraio 2019

Coursera, the world’s leading online learning platform, today launched a Self-Driving Cars Specialization created by the University of Toronto, a leading institution in robotics research and autonomous driving. The four-part online Specialization is the first-of-its-kind to provide learners with state-of-the-art knowledge and engineering to make safe autonomous vehicles a reality. The Specialization is designed for learners who already have some engineering experience, but little to no formal training in self-driving technologies.
Experts predict that the market for self-driving cars will reach $42 billion by 2025 and that the demand for skilled workers within the autonomous vehicle industry will continue to climb, creating more than 100,000 U.S. mobility industry jobs in the next decade. The major players in today’s self-driving car market guard their technology and advancements closely, making it difficult to gain access to the crucial knowledge needed to enter the field. To democratize access to top quality self-driving car development knowledge, Coursera and the University of Toronto will offer a series of advanced, hands-on simulation and programming assignments at an industry-leading price of $79 per month.“Self-driving cars will reshape our cities and our lives, in the process creating tens of thousands of new jobs for those who have the right skills,” said Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera. “We’re excited to partner with the University of Toronto, a top-ranked leader in autonomous vehicle research, to train the next generation of engineers who will bring safe, autonomous vehicles to public roads.”World-renowned experts, Professor Steven Waslander and Professor Jonathan Kelly from the University of Toronto, teach the Specialization based on 30 years of experience and pioneering techniques in autonomous robotics research. Nissoli (FI) alla Cin Radio di Toronto: Riformare i Comites per rafforzarli

Posted by fidest press agency su domenica, 6 Mag 2018

In particolare, l’on.

Cascadia Announced Major Breakthrough In Blockchain Industy

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 18 gennaio 2018

torontoToronto. In addition to having the titles of the world’s first Bitcoin ATM and world’s first reversed take-over transaction in the blockchain industry, Canada has once again secured its leadership with yet another world’s first title in the blockchain industry. This time the historical milestone was set by Cascadia Consumer Electronics Corp. (CSE: CK) (“Cascadia”), a publicly listed Canadian company in transition to the blockchain and fintech sectors. Cascadia announced the completion of 425 bitcoin private placement, valued at US$ 6.12 million in total, on December 29, 2017, just one short week after its initial announcement of such a plan. “This lightning speed of execution is in line with the pace of development in the blockchain industry. This also showcases the high level of enthusiasm and support of the industry investors. Cascadia will be able to accelerate our transition and expansion into the blockchain and fintech sectors, pending the approval from CSE on our proposed business change,” said Rachel Wang, CEO of Cascadia in the company’s press release announcing the completion of the private placement. According to Cascadia’s public filing, a few well-known Asian institutional investors specialized in the blockchain and cryptocurrency sectors, such as FBG Capital, BitCapital, ChainFunder, Qtum, Nebulas, aelf, and BTCtrade, participated in this round of Cascadia’s private placement. In recent years, many new start-ups are using ICOs (or “Initial Coin Offerings”) to raise the necessary capital. However, cryptocurrencies seem not very commonly used or accepted in the traditional capital market. This is really the first time that there has been a cross-over between the new fintech sector and the traditional capital market, proving that these two are not necessarily mutually exclusive and that in the foreseeable future, it is likely to see more innovative and creative transactions with both involved.

“The ethical chefs”: A conversation between Italy and Canada

Posted by fidest press agency su sabato, 11 novembre 2017

Norbert NiederkoflerToronto (Canada) talian Cultural Institute 496 Huron Street Mon, 20 November 2017 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM On the occasion of the 2nd edition of the “World Week of Italian Cuisine”, Chef Norbert Niederkofler will be in conversation with Jason Bangerter, Rob Gentile and Alida Solomon to share with the IIC audience his culinary philsophy based on local products and sustainability. The event will be moderated by John Higgins (Director/ Corporate Chef – George Brown Chef School).
Norbert Niederkofler is the Executive Chef of Hotel & Spa Rosa Alpina (www.rosalpina.it) in the village of San Cassiano, Italy. With a broad background in the culinary arts, including working closely with renowned chefs throughout Europe and in the United States, Niederkofler is responsible for all dining operations at the mountain retreat, including menu creation at two Michelin – star St. Hubert us and kitchen operations at the Wine Bar & Grill, Fondue Stube and Limonaia. He also oversees all in – room dining operations as well as private events through the Rosa Alpina.
Norbert was born in 1961 in Lutago, a small town right in the heart of the Dolomites. His parents owned a hotel for the skiers in winter and climbers in summer, and he was always exploring the outdoors. Norbert loved the local wild berries, which were full of flavour thanks to the region’s volcanic soils, and the freshwater fish which could be caught from the rivers and streams. However, despite his love for South Tyrol, Norbert desired to see the rest of the world: ‘I wanted to become a Chef, so I could travel,’ he tells us. ‘I was tired of looking at mountains all the time, so I left the first chance I got.’
After finishing his studies at a culinary college in Germany, Norbert worked in London, Zurich and Milan, before arriving in Munich to work with Eckart Witzigmann, his greatest mentor. Eckart taught him how to respect nature and its produce to achieve culinary perfection. After seven years in Munich, he travelled to New York and learnt the secrets to innovation under restaurateur David Bouley. It was here that he truly began to develop his own style, but after a while he started to miss the mountains and flavours of his hometown. In 1993, Norbert returned home to work at the Castel Colz in La Villa for a year, before being offered the chance to run the kitchen at Rosa Alpina Hotel & Spa in San Cassiano , at the base of the Dolomite mountains. At the time the restaurant was a pizzeria, but Norbert set about turning it into a fine dining establishment, using the cuisines of Austria and Italy as inspiration. He eventually decided to dedicate a small part of the restaurant to the local mountain range, refused to use ingredients produced outside of the Dolomites and named the restaurant St. Hubertus. News spread of this ‘Cook the Mountain’ philosophy, as it came to be known, and in 2000 the restaurant won its first Michelin star. Shortly after, the owner of the Hotel decided to close down the pizzeria and let Norbert have full control over the menu, which eventually led to a second star in 2007.

Eating Italy: A Delicious Journey Through Italian Cuisine

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 21 settembre 2017

italian eatingToronto, From Friday, September 22, 2017 To Friday, November 03, 2017 Time: From 10:00 am To 12:00 pm Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema – 506 Bloor St W Organized by: Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema In collaboration with: Istituto Italiano di Cultura Entrance : With fee.
It is said that most people eat to live, while in Italy people live to eat. In this course, Hot Docs favourite Dr. Franco Gallippi returns to explore the history and cultural significance of some of the most famous dishes from his native land. From a simple plate of ‘pasta e ceci’ (pasta with chickpeas) to an elaborate ‘timballo di maccheroni’ (macaroni timbale), Franco will use famous scenes in Italian cinema and literature to examine the ingredients and regional differences that have shaped these mouthwatering delicacies, and the identity and history of a people that never stops talking about food.
This course is led by Professor Franco Gallippi, who completed his PhD thesis, Calvino: Reader of Leopardi and Galileo, at the University of Toronto in 2007. He was Assistant Professor of Italian at McMaster University in Hamilton, where he taught Italian language, literature, and cinema for four years. He is presently teaching at the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto and his writing appears regularly in academic journals in Italy, Canada, and the United States. Doors will open one hour before the first class. Registrants will receive supplementary materials in advance of their first class.
istituto italiano cultura torontoSeptember 22: Antipasto (Appetizers) When Italy was a poor country an antipasto was a meal for many. As Italy found new prosperity and developed its agriculture on an industrial level, the antipasto became more refined and reached new heights of deliciousness. Burrata, anyone?
September 29: Primo (First Courses) Did Marco Polo bring pasta to Italy from China? As we watch the most famous Italian actors twirl spaghetti around their forks, we’ll explore this and the many other vital questions of national identity evoked by Italy’s favourite first course.
October 6: Secondo (Second Courses) Italy is a major producer of meat and fish. The choice between the two brings up interesting differences between Southern and Northern Italy, coastal and inland regions. We’ll explore the fishing towns of Sicily in Il Postino and hike the rolling hills of Tuscany in search of wild boar.
October 20: Dolce (Dessert) The films of Nanni Moretti abound with Italian pastries. Even the Pope in We Have A Pope (2011) can’t resist a good ‘bomba alla crema’ (donut with custard cream). Let’s use this sweet-toothed director to take a closer look at the art of Italian pastry-making, and its place in the progression of an Italian meal.
October 27: Caffè (Coffee) While Italy can’t boast about growing its own coffee, it has set the world standard for how to drink and prepare this delightful beverage. Espresso and cappuccino are no longer foreign words to non-Italians but the country’s coffee appassionati are still debating what makes a perfect ‘caffè espresso.’
November 3: The Italian Diaspora We’ll close by surveying Italian food beyond the borders of Italy. Italian immigrants to the US, Canada, South America and Australia have put their stamp on dishes that claim to be Italian, yet many of these dishes do not exist in Italy. What makes a dish authentically Italian? And if it’s delicious, does it really matter?

Spanning three decades, the architecture and interior design of Francesco and Aldo Piccaluga played a significant role in crafting new, visionary spatial experiences as symbols of modern Toronto.
Fascinated by the success of the Liberal Party under Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the Piccaluga brothers moved to Toronto in 1968 after completing architectural studies in Italy. Known for their ability to work across scales, their practice included furniture design, commercial interiors, private residences, and urban infill social housing projects in Toronto’s East End. Combining an interest in vernacular architecture and craftsmanship with the international perspective of modern architecture, their designs promoted a sense of progress and cultural belonging through experimentation with colour, material, and innovative building layouts. The original interiors for the CN Tower exemplify the brothers’ unique ability to create visually engaging spaces while also providing occupants with a feeling of comfort. Examining the impact and legacy of the Piccalugas’ designs on the city of Toronto, the exhibition will present original materials from the Piccaluga archive together with interviews and present-day photographs of the buildings. Toronto: Nissoli/sul Comites finalmente la verità

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 16 marzo 2017

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 15 febbraio 2017

ritualToronto (Canada) from Thursday, February 23, 2017 To Thursday, March 16, 2017 Time: From 6:30 pm To 8:30 pm Organized by : Istituto Italiano di Cultura 496 Huron St., in collaboration with : The Mariano A. Elia Chair in Italian-Canadian Studies at York University Entrance : Free. On the occasion of the recently published book RITUAL by documentary photographer Vincenzo Pietropaolo, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, in collaboration with The Mariano Elia Chair of Italian-Canadian Studies at York University, is pleased to present a photographic exhibit by the same name. Vincenzo Pietropaolo will be in attendance. In Ritual, Pietropaolo brings together a retrospective collection of 150 photographs spanning 46 years. The book is an historic documentation, unparalleled in scope, of the Good Friday procession—an elaborate event that takes place annually in the streets of Toronto’s Little Italy, the largest Italian immigrant community in the world. Consisting of multiple re-enactments with live actors and statues of Biblical tableaux vivants that depict the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross), the event is the emotional high point of the community.Pietropaolo has attended the event for over four decades, documenting its transformation from a tiny local parish affair to a major urban gathering to which tens of thousands throng every year in reverence or as curious onlookers. Ritual is a moving document of social history that reflects the acculturation of an immigrant community of humble origins into a dynamic life-force of their city.“What makes the photographs so compelling is Pietropaolo’s ability to slip past the surface pageantry to the telling moments that from its very human core, as if he has pulled a curtain aside to reveal the deepest truths of who we are.” -Nino Ricci
Italian-born, Canadian-based documentary photographer Vincenzo Pietropaolo has made it his life’s mission to photograph the immigrant experience, working class culture and social justice issues. Considered “one of Canada’s pre-eminent documentary photographers”, his work is distinguished for the sense of dignity and empathy toward his subjects. (photo: ritual)

Chiude a Toronto l’ICFF: premiati Cardilnale, Bova e Iervolino

Posted by fidest press agency su mercoledì, 22 giugno 2016

(bova-cardinale)
