The Landscape Of A Mind: A Private Collector’s Surreal Vision

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 7 giugno 2019

London – Christie’s will offer The Landscape of a Mind: A Private Collector’s Surreal Vision as a highlight of ‘20th Century at Christie’s’. Over a series of sales, including the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale on 18 June, and a dedicated sale of Design, Photography, Indian Miniatures, Post-War and Contemporary Art and further Impressionist and Modern Art on 20 June, more than 100 works will be presented. Together, they map the surreal vision of an eclectic collector who cleverly created a dialogue between objects and artworks in the domestic settings they inhabited. The collection is estimated in the region of £15,000,000. A dedicated interior will be created for the collection in the St James’s galleries at King Street from 13 to 20 June 2019 as part of ‘20th Century at Christie’s’, a series of auctions that will take place from 17 to 26 June 2019.
An important group of 13 Surrealist and Dada works will highlight the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale on 18 June 2019. Yves Tanguy’s L’Extinction des especes II (1938, estimate: £2,500,000-4,000,000) will be offered at auction for the first time and was passed down through the family of Tanguy’s primary dealer (Pierre Matisse) until 2013, when it was acquired by the present owner from the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation. Le parc du vautour (1926, estimate: £2,500,000-4,000,000) is an unusually large surrealist landscape, which explores a dream-like scene. Featured in Magritte’s first solo exhibition in 1927, a seminal show which launched his career as a Surrealist, Le parc du vautour will be offered at auction for the first time.Olivier Camu, Deputy Chairman, Impressionist and Modern Art, Christie’s: “This superb and unique collection exudes a strong erotic surrealism, visible in the paintings, drawings, photographs, collages and iconic design. The formidable Mark Tansey was the first purchase, which then led to an appetite for Dada and Surrealism across many different categories and value levels, without any bias but always with great research, wit and an eye for quality. This most eclectic of collections draws us into the fascinating landscape of the mind of this very passionate collector. We are particularly excited to introduce at auction for the first time ever Magritte’s unusually large ‘Le parc du vautour’ of 1926 as well as Yves Tanguy’s ‘L’extinction des especes, II’ of 1938, the best painting by the artist I have seen at auction since the world record setting ‘Les derniers jours’ sold in these rooms in 2005.’”

Posted by fidest press agency su martedì, 22 maggio 2018

Silicon Valley Forum concluded their 21st Annual Visionary Awards on May 17th, 2018, at Domenico Winery in San Carlos, CA. With over 100 guests in attendance, the 2018 Awards honored four new Visionaries, inviting them to the stage to honor their accomplishments and hear them speak about their experiences and insights.“This is the 21st year we’ve held the Visionary Awards, and it’s such an honor to be able to host some of the best and brightest minds in technology, business, and education,” said Denyse Cardozo, CEO of Silicon Valley Forum. “As the landscape of Silicon Valley changes throughout the years, the path forward needs new leaders to light the way forward to a better future we all share. Our 2018 honorees—Kimberly Bryant, Caterina Fake, Vivek Wadhwa, and Astro Teller—each embody the kind of pathfinding that makes someone a Visionary.” “Accenture is proud to have honored a remarkable group of Visionaries by serving as a Gold sponsor for Silicon Valley Forum’s 2018 Visionary Awards,” said Michael Redding, Managing Director of Accenture Ventures. “The Awards are a great chance to honor the luminaries who have shaped the world as we know it through their talent, their tenacity, and their far-seeking visions for a better future.”The 2018 honorees each spoke about what they enjoyed about Silicon Valley—and their vision for what technologists and entrepreneurs can do to push towards a better future:
Astro Teller, Captain of Moonshots at Google X, said, “If you want people to be brave, if you want them to be weird, if you want them to be creative, the only correct answer [to their ideas] is ‘oh my God, what a gorgeous idea that is!’ You’re telling them I value that your brain makes statements like that.” Flickr founder and Yes VC general partner Caterina Fake urged people to take personal responsibility as netizens, saying, “The internet was conceived with a generosity of spirit, but it is indifferent to whether it transmits love or hate. It’s what we build and who we are that makes all the difference.” Vivek Wadhwa, author, academic researcher, and Carnegie Mellon Fellow, addressed Silicon Valley’s controversial reputation and diversity issues, saying, “The beauty of Silicon Valley is that it recognizes that it’s imperfect. That we can even have these discussions [about change] openly is a big deal.” He urged the audience to step up and take advantage of technology advances to make a difference.Black Girls CODE founder and CEO Kimberly Bryant closed the evening by drawing a line between personal and professional worlds, saying, “When the path to found Black Girls CODE was revealed, it was the mother of a daughter—and a woman of color—who wanted to create a pathway for my daughter and for girls like her. Technology can be used as a catalyst for powerful social change.”

Plan for health in 2020

Posted by fidest press agency su giovedì, 10 marzo 2011

Senior government officials representing the 53 Member States are meeting in Andorra la Vella, Andorra on 9–11 March 2011 to discuss the vision, strategic goals, scope and content of Health 2020, and to share experiences and strategies in implementing the Tallinn Charter: “Health Systems for Health and Wealth”. This first meeting of the European Health Policy Forum for High-Level Government Officials will be hosted by the Ministry of Health, Well-being and Labour of Andorra and opened by Andorran Prime Minister Jaume Bartumeu. Member States agree that new and innovative policies are needed to deal with the pressing health issues in the European Region in a comprehensive, cost-effective and coordinated way. These issues include the epidemic of obesity, cancer and heart disease; large differences in health status and life expectancy; increasing mental disorders; re-emerging communicable diseases; and the need to plan for emergencies and pandemics. Action to address them has to take account of the impact of factors such as globalization, urbanization, climate change, a larger ageing population and the economic crisis.Health 2020 puts special emphasis on the key role of ministers of health as advocates and catalysts of action for health both within and beyond the boundaries of the health sector. Another positive development is the increasing involvement in decision-making of patients and citizens, who are no longer passive but, thanks to information technology, are more empowered than ever before to take more responsibility for their health in a different relationship with the health system. The Health 2020 framework will be built on the Health for All strategy and other key European health policy frameworks including the Tallinn Charter: “Health Systems for Health and Wealth”. An interim report on the follow-up of the Tallinn Charter commitments will be discussed at the meeting. The report highlights innovative examples of actions by countries and WHO that are consistent with the commitments of the Tallinn Charter, especially in light of the financial crisis. It also emphasizes the need for a rejuvenated effort in public health, and explains how Health 2020 will further many of the key concepts put forward in the Charter.WHO/Europe recently commissioned a number of studies that will inform Health 2020, including a European review of the social determinants of health and the health divide, led by Sir Michael Marmot, of University College London, United Kingdom; and a study on governance for health in the 21st century, led by Professor Ilona Kickbusch, of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. Other studies will address other key aspects of the Health 2020 policy framework such as the economics of prevention and an anticipatory analysis of drivers of and trends affecting health.

Università Italiane: superclassifica di campus

Posted by fidest press agency su venerdì, 11 febbraio 2011
