European Union: Being together divided

If we were to ask ourselves where Europeans find all these resources to “grow” despite the divisions that still remain deep, let’s say that they inhabit our genetic code. I sense this same “libertarian” yearning in a resolution of the Florentine municipality of the 1200s with an explicit reference to human freedom and natural law. Even then, in the cities, the first signs of that proletarian culture aimed at redeeming its humble origins in order to turn to a society of equals began to show. And in the 16th century a similar awareness was renewed with the peoples who manifested in all fields, more frequently and more clearly than in the past, the knowledge or rather the pride of their individuality which will be strengthened here and there, by the adherence to a new faith and opposition to the ecumenical Church of yore. And the seeds of good and evil were born precisely from these libertarian yearnings and from the oppressive and negative regurgitation of all freedom. There is therefore a direct thread that linked the age between the ‘200 and ‘300 with the ‘500 and it to the present day. The 20th century is, in effect, a “magical synthesis” of that Europe which expanded throughout the world by conquering the Americas and refining its gaze beyond its own galaxy.
