La pandemia di Covid-19 ha reso l’ospedale un tema di attualità e la competenza medica un argomento da talk show popolare. Sullo sfondo dell’onnipresenza dell’ospedale nei media negli ultimi due anni, questa conferenza internazionale cerca di rivisitare e ripensare l”ospedale’ come un luogo che è allo stesso tempo universale e specifico a livello locale: un complesso in cui la scienza si inserisce in questioni sociali e politiche e in cui la tecnologia incontra le esigenze etiche. Le tendenze attuali in Svizzera vedono una crescente centralizzazione dell’ospedale come mega-istituzione con centri di eccellenza, che porta alla chiusura o alla trasformazione dei piccoli ospedali regionali. In Italia, invece, prevalgono la persistenza e l’adattamento delle vecchie strutture ospedaliere. In entrambi i casi gli ospedali rimangono inseriti in contesti locali, siano essi urbani o rurali, e sono modellati da contesti politici e finanziari locali. Anche all’interno dell’ospedale, la situazione del personale e dei pazienti rispecchia questioni sociali più ampie, relazioni di potere ed esigenze di società e culture specifiche. In definitiva, la pandemia ci ha ricordato che gli ospedali e le loro infrastrutture devono rimanere estremamente flessibili e adattarsi agli sviluppi talvolta improvvisi della salute pubblica e delle conoscenze mediche. Con questo incontro, l’Istituto Svizzero intende presentare e collegare le ricerche in corso sull’ospedale da diverse prospettive disciplinari. Mettendo in dialogo prospettive storiche e contemporanee, la conferenza cerca anche di contribuire a una comprensione storicamente informata delle sfide che gli ospedali devono affrontare oggi e in futuro. La conferenza fa parte della serie INNOVATION dell’Istituto Svizzero, che esamina le innovazioni nella ricerca, esplorandone le potenzialità e le sfide da una prospettiva tecnologica e sociale. L’esperienza cinese dell’Internet Hospital di Pechino

Durante la Presentazione di Academy Tech di Motore Sanità Tech, Wang Tianbing, Vicedirettore dell’Ospedale Popolare dell’Università di Pechino, DG dell’Ospedale del Distretto di Tongzhou e Vicedirettore del Centro di Ricerca del Ministero dell’Istruzione per il Sistema Ospedaliero Digitale ha condiviso l’esperienza cinese nella costruzione di un Internet Hospital con l’Italia. Tanti i temi trattati, dalle misure e le norme necessarie per il rispetto della sicurezza della rete e del paziente, al funzionamento vero e proprio di un Ospedale Digitale, dalla Consultazione online al follow up, dalla consegna a domicilio dei medicinali alla valutazione finale della prestazione da parte del paziente. Nella sessione di domande e risposte, il Prof. Wang ha specificato i problemi riscontrati durante la costruzione dell’Internet Hospital di Pechino, come la necessità di un riconoscimento del medico e di un confronto faccia a faccia da parte del paziente, lo scetticismo nell’accettare una nuova modalità di consulto medico da parte della popolazione, la mancanza iniziale di apparecchiature tecnologiche valide e di leggi che possano stabilire le responsabilità e le modalità di pagamento delle prestazioni. Al problema dell’accettazione, dice Wang, abbiamo risposto da una parte cercando di coinvolgere in primis solo alcuni reparti e di procedere per fasi (inizialmente solo consultazione, poi trattamenti) e dall’altra parte cercando di far accettare il nuovo sistema alla fascia della popolazione con un alto livello di formazione, con una conoscenza già solida delle nuove tecnologie. Per il problema della tecnologia e delle leggi, continua, siamo molto migliorati, perché la Cina ha fatto grandi passi in avanti in poco tempo, anche se tali problemi non sono ad oggi completamente risolti. Infine, conclude, lo sviluppo dell’Internet Hospital ha conosciuto una rapida crescita a partire dallo scorso anno, con l’inizio della pandemia da Coronavirus, quando la popolazione ha iniziato a capire che si aveva bisogno di un nuovo sistema di diagnosi e trattamento che evitasse il più possibile l’ingresso in ospedale. Roma Tor Vergata: Sistema Lazio sta funzionando

Il Policlinico Tor Vergata ha attivato al suo interno il Covid 4 Hospital, con 123 posti letto di degenza ordinaria e 20 di terapia intensiva. Il polo ospedaliero nel quadrante Est di Roma svolge quindi un compito di primo piano nell’emergenza coronavirus. Ma qual e’ la situazione e come si e’ riorganizzata la struttura? L’agenzia Dire lo ha chiesto, in un colloquio Skype, al commissario straordinario del Policlinico Tor Vergata, Tiziana Frittelli.Al momento “c’e’ una certa tenuta del numero di nuovi positivi. Comunque siamo pronti a utilizzare gli ulteriori posti letto che ancora non sono saturi perche’ si e’ creata a livello regionale una rete abbastanza estesa per essere certi che la popolazione laziale avesse la possibilita’ di poter essere ricoverata all’occorrenza”, ha detto Frittelli, sottolineando che in questa emergenza “il punto centrale e’ che il sistema regione sta funzionando molto bene, con una cabina di regia stringata e anche disponibile tecnicamente per qualsiasi nostra esigenza. Quindi in realta’ questo coordinamento, che ha fatto si’ che ci fosse una completa integrazione tra mondo pubblico e mondo dell’accreditato, e’ in questo momento nel Lazio la soluzione e la chiave di lettura”.Frittelli ha precisato che “ad oggi abbiamo 98 pazienti ricoverati in degenza ordinaria e 19 in terapia intensiva. Abbiamo separato nettamente tutti i percorsi, dal Pronto soccorso alla degenza, e destinato altre 11 stanze per collocare i sospetti Covid-19 in attesa di tampone. Inoltre stiamo trasferendo all’esterno, nelle due strutture individuate dalla Regione, i pazienti ancora con Covid ma che ormai hanno cessato la fase acuta”.
Per quanto riguarda la riorganizzazione del Policlinico delle attivita’ non dedicate al coronavirus, Fritelli ha spiegato: “Abbiamo mantenuto alcuni reparti come la neurologia, la medicinad’urgenza e la gastro. Le attivita’ ambulatoriali, come in tutta Italia, vengono effettuate esclusivamente per visite urgenti e brevi, per evitare la presenza di troppi pazienti. Per quel che riguarda la chirurgia, da lunedi’ abbiamo cessato le attivita’ delle sale operatorie perche’ stiamo predispondendo altri 20 posti letto di terapia intensiva per Covid. Quindi le attivita’ chirurgiche funzionano per le urgenze, mentre abbiamo deviato gli accessi ordinari di 118 in altri ospedali. Ovviamente continuano le attivita’ sulla oncoematologia, ma ci stiamo organizzando anche con telemonitoraggi e la consegna a casa di farmaci per pazienti cronici di particolare delicatezza”.Infine, anche a Tor Vergata c’e’ stata una netta riduzione degli accessi al Pronto soccorso. “Sono calati incredibilmente – ha concluso Frittelli – Pero’ in questo caso sta funzionando una
impostazione di sistema per cui c’e’ stato un battage nazionale in cui abbiamo detto ai pazienti di non venire in Pronto soccorso ma di contattare i medici di base. Questo decremento deve farci fare un’ulteriore riflessione per il dopo emergenza, su come
riorganizzare la presa in carico dei pazienti su base territoriale con i medici in stretto contatto con le Asl, che in questo momento stanno svolgendo un lavoro pazzesco”. (fonte agenzia Dire)

“Aperto il Columbus Covid 2 Hospital”

La sindaca di Roma Virginia Raggi esprime, anche a nome di tutta la città, il suo apprezzamento per l’apertura del Columbus Covid 2 Hospital, il nuovo centro ospedaliero per la cura del Coronavirus e già operativo. “Nel giro di una settimana è stato aperto un ospedale per accogliere malati di coronavirus a Roma. È una grande impresa al servizio dei cittadini, per la quale ringrazio il Policlinico Gemelli e le persone che hanno lavorato per raggiungere questo obiettivo in tempi così rapidi. Il mio pensiero va anche a medici, infermieri e a tutto il personale sanitario che lavorerà al suo interno. Questo straordinario impegno nella lotta al coronavirus deve ricordarci che ciascuno di noi è chiamato a fare la sua parte, anche con piccoli gesti. Colgo quindi l’occasione per ricordare l’importanza di restare nelle proprie case e di rispettare le indicazioni del Governo” dichiara Raggi.

Oklahoma Specialty Hospital Selects the Evident Thrive EHR System

Valley Presbyterian Hospital Hosts Health & Wellness Community Fair

Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) will host its free annual Health & Wellness Community Fair on Saturday, Oct. 13 between 10 AM and 2 PM. The fair will be held at the Hospital, located at 15107 Vanowen Street, Van Nuys, Calif. The fair will offer a variety of free health screenings, including blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), carotid artery, cholesterol, and foot health. Phoenix Health Systems Ranked First by Black Book Research for Comprehensive Hospital IT Outsourcing

Phoenix Health Systems, the leading independent provider of hospital IT outsourcing and consulting services, has been recognized by market and public opinion research firm Black Book Research as first among the top 20 non-EHR centric hospital IT outsourcing companies. African Partnerships for Patient Safety (APPS) has launched the second wave of Europe-to-Africa hospital partnerships to improve patient safety in five countries. APPS proposes a unique partnership model translating policy into action to improve patient safety in hospitals in the African region. Hospitals in Africa are teamed up with counterparts in Europe to allow the sharing of tools, processes and learning based on three core objectives: partnership strength, hospital patient safety improvements, and patient safety spread. Building on the success of the “first wave” of partnerships established by APPS in 2009, new partnerships between hospitals in Africa and the UK are being launched in a “second wave”. Representatives of the five partnerships between UK and African hospitals (in Ghana, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia) met at WHO Headquarters this week to kick off their new partnerships and to establish work plans to improve patient safety in their respective hospitals and further afield. http://www.facebook.com/WorldHealthOrganization?v=wall

Roma 21 dicembre p.v. alle ore 21:OO presso la discoteca Heaven a, su iniziativa dell’associazione “Il Capitale Umano” si terrà una serata  evento a sostegno della vita. Lo dice in una nota il Segretario Provinciale della Uil Fpl di Roma Paolo Dominici.  Nel corso della stessa i partecipanti, attraverso il libero versamento di una quota di partecipazione, potranno degustare prodotti della tradizione enogastronomica laziale. L’intero incasso verrà devoluto alla Associazione ONLUS  “Piccoli guerrieri della home in hospital” presso l’Ospedale G.B. Grassi di Ostia.  Il progetto di assistenza presso l’Ospedale G.B. Grassi di Ostia accoglie solo 4 bambini ed è un progetto pilota che va avanti tra innumerevoli difficoltà burocratiche. Noi vorremmo – continua il segretario provinciale della Uil Fpl di Roma – che il progetto potesse essere allargato ad ogni nosocomio di Roma e della provincia e che le Istituzioni si facessero carico dell’assistenza in regime di ricovero  garantendo l’accoglienza nelle strutture sanitarie competenti di questi sfortunati bambini. Questo consentirebbe tra l’altro, il recupero sociale e professionale dei nuclei famigliari che, in questa situazione, sono inevitabilmente posti in una condizione di esclusione dalla vita sociale, lavorativa e professionale.
Parteciperà alla serata il Presidente dell’associazione “Piccoli guerrieri della home in hospital” sig. Valter Mazza che porterà la propria diretta testimonianza, come genitore di uno dei tanti bambini sfortunati. La UIL FPL di Roma parteciperà alla serata attraverso amici ed iscritti, rappresentanti di base e  Segreteria romana. Sarà una occasione, conclude Dominici, per pensare e  riflettere tutti insieme, alle azioni da adottare per creare  un sistema di welfare che non tagli fuori sempre e puntualmente i piu’ deboli. The creation of a University Hospital Institute

Nantes. With support from Nantes Métropole urban council and the Pays de la Loire Regional Council, Nantes University Hospital and the University of Nantes have joined forces to push for the creation of a University Hospital Institute (Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire, IHU) provisionally entitled the “European Centre for Transplantation Sciences and Immunotherapy”. The French government is to set up a total of 5 IHUs, following a rigorous tendering process. The institutes will be funded from the proceeds of the country’s National Bond Scheme. Over the last 10 years, the city of Nantes’ healthcare cluster has forged a reputation as one of the best in France. It is gaining an international reputation in many fields (including immunology, transplantation, oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, human nutrition, cell & gene therapy and biomaterials). The cluster constitutes a key element in the Pays de la Loire region’s economic attractiveness and is a driving force for regional research efforts. Its success is based on close collaboration between Nantes University Hospital, the INSERM national medical research institute, the University of Nantes, other research providers and biotech companies, with the support of the local authorities and the French State. The Nantes-based IHU project focuses on the role of patient-centred translational research and medical care in understanding and curing disease. The IHU project is being led by Professor Jean-Paul Soulillou (one of the field’s leading physicians and researchers) and currently involves over 1100 staff (including almost 200 researchers- one of the French government’s criteria for the future IHUs). It is set to be Europe’s leading programme in the high-priority field of transplantation science.

New York. “Sono stato il primo chirurgo a introdurre in Inghilterra il trapianto di fegato da donatore ‘a cuore fermo’ e con la nostra equipé abbiamo raggiunto l’obiettivo, che ci siamo posti nel 2002, di eseguire il 10% degli interventi con questa procedura. Un risultato importante per far fronte alla scarsità dei donatori nel Regno Unito, e che in Italia non è al momento realizzabile”. Paolo Muiesan, 48 anni, chirurgo bresciano esperto di trapianti di fegato, è uno dei cervelli emigrati all’estero 17 anni fa. Ha lavorato come “Consultant Surgeon in Hepato-Biliary Surgery and Transplantation” prima al King’s College Hospital di Londra e poi al Queen Elizabeth Hospital di Birmingham (UK), entrambi centri prestigiosi, ai primi posti per numero di trapianti in Europa. Ha eseguito più di 550 trapianti di fegato ed oltre 100 pubblicazioni sulle più prestigiose riviste scientifiche internazionali portano la sua firma. A New York, a dimostrazione dell’eccellenza raggiunta dalle sue ricerche, sarà invitato a tenere una lettura magistrale durante il Congresso della ILTS (International Liver Transplantation Society), la più importante società scientifica al mondo dei trapianti di fegato. “Attualmente – spiega il prof. Muiesan – il maggior numero dei prelievi viene eseguito da donatore deceduto per morte cerebrale. Ma la penuria degli organi disponibili ha portato a implementare anche quelli da donatore per morte cardiaca, una procedura più rischiosa in cui gli organi da espiantare ‘soffrono’ maggiormente perché la circolazione del sangue si interrompe prima rispetto ai casi di morte cerebrale. Nel nostro centro abbiamo ottenuto risultati nei trapianti da donatore ‘a cuore fermo’ comparabili a quelli raggiunti con i donatori deceduti per morte cerebrale”. “Abbiamo messo a punto una tecnica particolare per il prelievo – continua il prof. Muiesan -, con una attenta selezione degli organi migliori, in grado di funzionare dopo il trapianto. E le nostre percentuali di successo sono più alte di quelle riportate negli Stati Uniti”. Il monito però è quello di non sovvertire il sistema. “La preferenza va sempre data ai casi di morte cerebrale perché garantiscono organi di alta qualità e solo in situazioni precise si può passare alla donazione ‘a cuore fermo’”. Nostalgia del nostro Paese? “Certo e molta – conclude Muiesan – anche perché la mia famiglia vive in Italia, però in questo momento all’estero si continua a lavorare bene e ci sono opportunità. Io non sono un caso isolato, e soprattutto nel mio campo, ci sono bravissimi chirurghi italiani in tutto il mondo che danno risalto al nostro Paese”.
