Abortion reality in Germany and Poland

According to the World Health organisation “In countries where induced abortion is legally highly restricted and/or unavailable, safe abortion has frequently become the privilege of the rich, while poor women have little choice but to resort to unsafe providers, causing deaths and morbidities that become the social and financial responsibility of the public health system” and “Laws and policies on abortion should protect women’s health and their human rights. Regulatory, policy and programmatic barriers that hinder access to and timely provision of safe abortion care should be removed.” Germany, a country with 80 million population and one of the lowest abortion rates in the world (together with Belgium and the Netherlands) had around 99700 abortions in 2014 according to the German National Statistics bureau. The official number of abortions in Poland, a country with 38 million inhabitants, is only 744. If the abortion rate in Poland is as low as in Germany, in reality at least 48000 underground abortions take place in Poland every year!! Probably this number is much higher, as there is a lack of appropriate sexual education and accessible contraceptive services. Estimates are that at in reality least 5 times more, or 240000 abortions are done in Poland (44 per 1000 women in child bearing age have an abortion every year in Poland compared to 7 in Germany)
The medicines used for a medical abortion, mifepristone and misoprostol, have been on the list of essential medicines of the WHO since 2005 and are available in Germany and almost all other European countries. However this medicine is still not registered in Poland. Scientific research by the World health Organisation has shown that medical abortion can easily be done by women themselves at home without supervision by health professionals. A medical abortion has the same health impact as a spontaneous miscarriage. Usually women themselves without additional medical supervision handle a miscarriage. In Poland, a pregnant woman cannot be subjected to punishment for illegal abortion or for any other action leading to a miscarriage.For pregnancies of up to 9 weeks (63 days) a medical abortion is done:
1- A woman swallows 1 tablet of 200 mg Mifepristone
2- 24 hours later the woman can put 4 tablets (800 μg) of misoprostol under the tongue (sublingual). (photo abortion)

Olympic Archive Conservation to be Honoured by IBC

London, The International Olympic Committee will receive an award at IBC2015 for its work on conserving and managing its audiovisual archives through its. Patrimonial Assets Management programme (PAM). The award recognises the IOC’s positive approach both to conservation and to making the archives available to broadcasters, researchers and other professionals. Dating back to the first Olympic Games in modern times, in 1896, the audiovisual archives of the Olympic Movement include 2000 hours of film, 33,000 hours of video, 8500 hours of audio and more than 500,000 photographs, as well as 2000 archive documents and 22,000 pictures of Olympic Museum artefacts. “The IOC’s Patrimonial Assets Management programme has helped safeguard the IOC’s rich legacy by preserving the organisation’s historical archives and bringing them into the 21st century,” said Christophe de Kepper, the IOC Director General. “It was down to us to perpetuate the cultural heritage of more than a century of Olympic history that our forebears had handed down to us. The IOC patrimony can now withstand the test of time.” Michael Lumley, chair of the IBC Awards panel, added “This project is very important for two reasons. First, it ensures that more than a century of Olympic history is preserved for the future. But perhaps even more important it draws the industry’s focus on a subject which it is all too easy to ignore. “Our archives risk becoming inaccessible, not just because of deterioration of assets but also because the hardware to play them is obsolete and virtually impossible to replicate”, Lumley stated. “Broadcasters, production companies and anyone with an audiovisual archive can look to the IOC’s Patrimonial Assets Management project to see a model of conservation and access. IBC is pleased to be able to draw attention to this issue through this award, as well as recognising the excellent work the IOC is undertaking.”

Abortion Drone first flight to Poland

On Saturday June 27 th the Abortion drone will fly for the first time packages of abortion pills from Frankfurt an der Oder in Germany to Słubice in Poland.The campaign is a collaboration between Women on Waves; Cocia Basia, a Berlin based abortion support group for Polish women; Feminteka Foundation from Warsaw and the 8 th of March women’s rights informal collective “Porozumienie kobiet 8 marca”.The Abortion drone will mark the different reality for Polish women to access to safe abortion services compared to other women in Europe. In almost all European countries abortion is legal, only in Poland, Ireland and Malta abortion is illegal and women’s rights are still violated.The drone will start its journey at 11 AM from “Am Winterhafen” in Frankfurt an der Oder and fly to Słubice. There will be opportunity for the press to ask questions after the landing of the abortion drone in Poland. The exact location will be announced on friday evening.Drones are used to make areal shots and for military purposes. However they can also be used to deliver packages. Both Google and Amazon are also already testing the possibility to deliver packages. So drones can also be used to provide safe abortion pills by uploading the package in Germany, where abortion is legal and delivering it into a border town in Poland where abortion is severely restricted since 1993. The only exception is in cases of rape or incest, when woman’s life is in danger, or if there is potential damage to fetus, and even in these cases, abortion is very difficult to obtain.As the Abortion drone weighs less than 5 kg, is not used for any commercial purposes, will stay within the sight of the person flying it and does not fly in controlled airspace, no authorization is required under Polish or German law.

Libereso con la sua saggezza ed ironia conquista Modena

Con Bottura, Augias, Tozzi e Libereso è entrata nel vivo la programmazione de “I Giardini del Gusto e delle Arti”, che si svolge nei Giardini Ducali di Modena e che per tutta l’estate ospiterà artisti, spettacoli, concerti, proiezioni e incontri letterari. Nei giorni scorsi Massimo Bottura ha aperto cogliendo l’occasione per festeggiare il recente podio conquistato dall’Osteria Francescana come il “secondo miglior ristorante al mondo”. Grandi nomi si sono alternati in questi giorni e particolarissimo e di grande successo è stato l’incontro con il giardiniere Libereso Guglielmi e il giornalista Claudio Porchia.
Nella originale ambientazione del “Tinello letterario” hanno letteralmente incantato e divertito il numerosissimo pubblico , raccontando episodi e divertenti aneddoti della avventurosa vita di Libereso, partendo dai suoi ricordi della famiglia Calvino, dello scrittore Italo e di suo padre, Mario. L’incontro è proseguito sui temi molto cari al Libereso, dalla scelta di una alimentazione vegetariana all’utilizzo delle erbe aromatiche e medicinali per terminare alla presentazione del suo ultimo libro “Ricette per ogni stagione”, che sta riscuotendo un grande successo di vendite ed è giunto alla terza edizione.
“Mangiare piante e fiori – ha detto l’autore del libro – è anche un modo efficace per cercare di fare a meno delle medicine. Io ho 90 anni e non sono mai andato dal dottore, mi curo con una sana ed adeguata alimentazione che è prettamente vegetariana. E’ questo è il segreto per la salute. Tre quarti delle erbe che possiamo trovare nei prati e sulle colline della Liguria sono commestibili, mentre oggi invece si fa uso solo di poche decine di varietà. Esiste una varietà incredibile di piante commestibili che la maggior parte delle persone non conosce più e che una volta veniva utilizzata. Sono erbe molto utili, che non dovrebbero mai mancare nella nostra dieta”. Una lunga file di persone si è formata al termine dell’incontro per ottenere una dedica al suo ultimo libro, e Libereso si è intrattenuto con i suoi ammiratori fino a sera, regalando ancora momenti di grande amicizia e saggezza, non solo sull’importanza dell’alimentazione per la nostra salute, ma anche sulla sua filosofia di vita. Marco Bendotti nuovo Hotel Manager del Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte

Il Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte di Viareggio (LU) ha il suo nuovo Hotel Manager: è Marco Bendotti, 35 anni, originario di Monza (MB). Diplomatosi nel 2001 al liceo scientifico, laureatosi nel 2007 in Economia e gestione dei servizi turistici presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca con una tesi sul turismo sportivo, Marco Bendotti entra giovanissimo in carriera, subito dopo la laurea, ricoprendo ruoli di crescente responsabilità sia presso le strutture sia presso gli headquarter italiani di una grande catena alberghiera.
Oggi approda al Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte, uno degli alberghi simbolo della Versilia e del bel vivere italiano nel mondo, come Hotel manager. Risponde direttamente al General manager Claudio Catani. (foto marco)

Festa dei viandanti

Pennabilli (RN) Sabato 4 e domenica 5 luglio si svolgerà a Pennabilli la FESTA DEI VIANDANTI organizzata dall’associazione D’LÀ DE’ FOSS: escursioni, idee, sapori, incontri tra gli antichi sentieri del Montefeltro. La FESTA DEI VIANDANTI affianca, quest’anno, escursioni a incontri. Le prime toccheranno alcuni dei punti più suggestivi del territorio che circonda Pennabilli: il massiccio del Sasso Simone, l’ardita torre di Bascio, le bianche pietre della fortezza di Petrella Guidi, il bacino del lago di Soanne ammantato di verde. Non mancheranno poi le occasioni per incontrare tante delle persone che popolano Pennabilli e la animano con il loro spirito e la loro laboriosità, appassionati di escursionismo, occasionali compagni di viaggio e commensali e i cavalieri del gruppo MA’ LA PENNA A CAVAL, con cui, D’LÀ DE’ FOSS, a chiusura della manifestazione, celebrerà il gemellaggio. Per questa edizione della FESTA DEI VIANDANTI l’associazione D’LÀ DE’ FOSS, in collaborazione con l’altra associazione pennese CHIOCCIOLA LA CASA DEL NOMADE, organizza due incontri: “A proposito di… un gruppo d’acquisto a Pennabilli”, una tavola rotonda che si prefigge di promuovere la nascita di un gruppo d’acquisto solidale, a cui parteciperà Roberto Zanni del GAS Santarcangelo di Romagna.“Microcosmi – Viaggio reale tra progetti e proposte per lo sviluppo del territorio”, un convegno che presenterà alcune esperienze concrete con cui è stato dato nuovo impulso a terre collinari e montane. Interverranno: Alberto Di Gioia (Associazione Dislivelli di Torino), Filippo Lenzerini (Punto3 di Ferrara), Emiliano Oddone (Dolomiti Project di Feltre), Federica Santulli (Guide Me Right di Milano) e Franco Boarelli in rappresentanza del Piano Strategico di Rimini.Non mancheranno le pause conviviali che permetteranno di assaggiare i cibi genuini del territorio e di godere dei sapori unici di piatti frutto della contaminazione tra le gastronomie di quattro regioni, che qui intersecano i loro confini: Romagna, Marche, Toscana e Umbria.
Una serata sarà dedicata a trovare una risposta al difficile quesito: siamo soli nell’Universo? Uno dei maggiori astrofili italiani, Gian Franco Lollino, ci spiegherà a che punto sono le ricerche del “gemello terrestre” e con l’aiuto del telescopio ci inizierà alla scoperta dei segreti del firmamento.
Infine, domenica pomeriggio, apertura straordinaria della Biblioteca Diocesana “Mons. G. Francesco Sormani” in occasione di un’esposizione di libri antichi incentrata sui temi inerenti la FESTA DEI VIANDANTI.La FESTA DEI VIANDANTI ha ottenuto il patrocinio della Provincia di Rimini, del Comune di Pennabilli, della Pro Loco di Pennabilli e del Parco del Sasso Simone e Simoncello.L’intento degli organizzatori è quello di dare vita a un evento che possa lasciare nell’animo di coloro che vi parteciperanno almeno un ricordo, un’emozione, una parola, un’immagine che non dimenticheranno e li spingerà a tornare a trovarci.
